Hi everybody, we are Italian students from Collegio Rotondi’s

High School. We are very pleased to meet you and now we are going to introduce ourselves.

Who we are

Where we are• We are a Catholic

school situated in Gorla Minore, about 30 km north-west of Milan.

• Northern Italy is a heavily industrialised region, but there are also green areas.

• Winters are quite cold and it often snows, while summers are very hot, with temperatures up to 35°C.

With the death of Marquis Giovanni Andrea Terzaghi in 1599 part of his estate became property of the religious order of the Oblates. In his will the nobleman asked the priests to set up a school for the poor children of the village. Since then the school has continued to operate and expand until 1730. When Napoleon came to Italy in 1810 he ordered that all religious orders and schools be suppressed and their properties confiscated.

In 1816 the headmaster Giorgio Rotondi, a priest belonging to a rich family, completed the purchasing of the estate, started by his predecessors. In 1839 the school officially reopened and remained committed to educating and nurturing the minds of its students (erudire et edocere).
