“To go”

• “Ir” is one of the most common irregular verbs in Spanish.• Like some verbs we’ve learned before,

it has a connector word that must be used when working with another verb or with a place.• Did anyone notice what that connector

• Ir + a + [location] to go to a place OR to be going to a place. (REMEMBER: a + el = al• Yo voy al estadio. I go to the stadium OR I am going to the stadium.• Ellos van al parque. They go to the park OR They are going to the park.• Nosotros vamos a la piscina. We go to the pool OR We are going to the pool.

• Ir + a + [infinitive] to be going to do something• Tú vas a esquiar. You are going to ski.• Vosotros váis a tomar el sol. Y’all are going to sunbathe.• Ella va a escribir una carta. She is going to write a letter.
