Childhood obesity prevention
“Prevention of childhood obesity is a rather new
area that has attracted recent attention for several
reasons, particularly because of the drastic
increase in the prevalence of obesity and the
persistent failure of treatment to achieve long-term
succes.”

In conclusion, the totality of the evidence can look very
different depending on how the systematic review is
designed. The question remains, which are the appropriate
criteria to apply?

Prevention of obesity in children
In conclusion, the findings are inconsistent, but overall suggest that
combined diet and PA interventions may help to prevent children
becoming overweight in the long term.
Dietary interventions such as providing breakfast for adolescents and
PA interventions particularly in girls in primary schools may help to
prevent these children from becoming overweight in the short term.

Introduction
EPODE was developed to upscale the encouraging results from a pilot study(1) conducted in Northern France between 1992 and 2004 (FLVS)
EPODE (Together let’s prevent childhood obesity) is a methodology aimed at preventing childhood obesity at community level. From 10 French pilot towns involved in 2004, today more than 500 communities are involved in programmes using the EPODE methodology in the world
With the support of the European Commission (DG SANCO), the involvement of 4 European Universities and the support of private partners, the EPODE European Network (2008-2011) has been aimed at facilitating the implementation of the EPODE methodology in Europe (2)

Recomendaciones
