Diferencia AcademicaHay muchas diferencias entre el modelo pedagógico / académico español y el de otros países angloparlantes (High School americano, IGCSE & A-Level inglés, Junior & Leaving Certificate irlandés). Si bien el nivel académico en España puede ser superior, el énfasis del modelo pedagógico en estos países es el uso de la educación en el día a día, un sistema que enfoca mas la puesta en práctica de los conocimientos de cada estudiante y su experiencia en el mundo real. Proyectos, presentaciones y prácticas forman gran parte de este modelo. Al estudiante se le da responsabilidad e independencia para hacer sus propias investigaciones, sobre todo en cuanto a los deberes se refiere, los cuales conllevan una gran importancia en el resultado final académico.

Last Words and RecommendationsOur string of newsletters has finally come to an end. Please forgive us, but our Don Quixote repertoire is dying out; at least those adages that might be relevant to our adventure. Let’s go with Macbeth. As he foresaw impending death, he continued on the futility of life: “Life is … a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.” Maybe so, but in our brief moment together in VaughanTown, we will produce unending sound and pursue our mission with ruthless fury. We will make these 6 days signify something very important indeed for our Spanish visitors. We will make them see that there is no other place on earth where more English is learned in less time than in VaughanTown.
Apart from our Spanish visitors, we noble English speakers will cast our fate to the wind and enjoy ourselves like little kids entering an amusement park. The psychologist Alfred Adler said that “the chief danger in life is that you may take too many precautions”. That’s easy to say, especially if, like Alfred Adler, you have few financial worries, but in any case, it’s a good thing for us to apply in our project at hand. Don’t take precautions in VaughanTown. Be inquisitive, delve into the lives of your Spanish counterparts, and enjoy the experience to its fullest. It is you and only you who will transform your Spanish friends into believers in their own ability to communicate.
You will be surprised at how instrumental you will be in effecting a genuine metamorphosis in the self-confidence of your Spanish friends. You will achieve more for more people in less time that you have ever achieved in your life. That we can guarantee. Most importantly of all, you will have a wonderful time. You will not feel the direct impact of your participation at least with your fellow Volunteers. You will ultimately be performing a collective miracle and you will see it happening as each day progresses. In the end you will build that bridge for your new friends and you will feel happy and fulfilled.
