Mining For Coal . . . . . . . .
Discovering Diamonds
Queridos padres,
Toni Sullivan,
North Forsyth High School. Por favor, estén atentos para más
detalles.
“objetos perdidos y encontrados”. ¡Hemos logrado acumular
muchos de ellos! Gracias por su ayuda y apoyo.
El más cálido saludo,
Kimberly Davis

Veterans Day 2019 and School Poppy Program
The Pathway Teachers have been busily coordinating this year’s Veterans Day Assembly which is scheduled for Monday, November 11th beginning at 9:00am in the Coal Mountain Gym. We have many activities planned for the assembly to demonstrate the importance and significance of this
national holiday.
We are asking students and staff of Coal Mountain to invite Veteran friends and relatives to join in a special recognition of their service at the assembly by completing the form found in the school
newsletter or on the school website.
We are also hosting a Poppy Program that benefits the great programs the VFW offers for so many. Proceeds from Poppy distribution help needy and disabled veterans, and widows and orphans of deceased veterans. Proceeds are divided between national, state, and local charitable purposes.
This year our school has a goal to raise $500.00. We will divide this amount into four “House” goals of $125.00.
We will announce the winning “House” on the Miner Morning News on Veterans Day.
The Poppy Drive will begin on November 4th and end on November 8th.
Donations will be accepted each morning in the school lobby. Any amount is greatly appreciated to reach our “House” goal. Our hope is to present the VFW with our goal amount of $500.00! Poppies
will be distributed each morning to wear for the school wide Veterans Day Assembly and on Veterans Day.
We all need to wear our poppies proudly to honor those who have given so much to protect our great country!
Please donate! Thank you!
Long Sleeve House Shirt – Due by November 13th
Houses are learning communities at CMES. The House model splits our kindergarten through fifth grade into four
vertical teamed houses. Coal Mountain’s motto is “Mining for Coal, Discovering Diamonds” and each house is
named after a gemstone. The four houses are: Amethyst, Emerald, Ruby and Sapphire. Each Wednesday our
students are encouraged to show their house spirit by wearing their house shirts. In addition to Wednesday’s,
students are encouraged to wear their house shirts for early release days, pep rallies, field trips, etc. Our houses
help to build a solid foundation for all children to exhibit strong personal qualities now and throughout their
lifetime.
The cost of the long sleeve shirt is $20. Cash or checks (CMES) are accepted.
You may submit one check, but please complete a separate form for each child.

Día de trabajo del “Discovery Garden” Coal Mountain
El sábado, 9 de noviembre
8:00am-12pm

Birthday / Special Occasion Book Club
We will be changing our birthday / special occasion book club at Coal Mountain. This is a
great way to help out our school library and at the same time honor the birthday / special
occasion of your child. At the beginning of your child’s birthday / special occasion month, your
child will be able to choose a book from a special new book collection. The book will receive a
unique inscription inside with your child’s name and birth date. Your child will be the very first
to check it out from the library. In addition, a picture will be taken of your child with their book
and hung on the Birthday/Special Occasion Book Club display in the lunchroom. (We will honor June and July birthdays / special occasions in May, and next years
August birthdays / special occasions in September.)
Please complete the form and return it with $17.00.
