ORIOLE VOLLEYBALL STAYS ON TOP OF TRI-RIVERS

After a 3-1 finish at the North Cedar tournament last weekend, the Ori-ole Volleyball squad returned to Machovec Gymnasium on Tuesday to resume conference play and they wasted little time in affirming themselves as the premier team on the court. The O’s won three straight, 25-8, 25-6, 25-13 to move to 19-7 overall and a perfect 4-0 in conference play. "I feel like we are hitting our stride as a team right now. They have made good adjustments against teams of different skill levels over the past two weeks and I have seen a steady level of play through it all. I'm proud of their focus on the court right now. ORIOLE FOOTBALL LOSES A SCOREFEST

In just their second home game of the season, the O’s scored an impressive 57 points, the most they’ve scored all year but it wasn’t quite enough as they dropped a 78-57 loss to Turkey Valley. Coach Martin said, “When we turn the ball over and give them short fields, that takes a lot of momentum away from us”. Turkey Valley hasn’t thrown the ball all season and against the O’s they lit up the Oriole defense with 6 tosses for a score and 238 yards in the air—totally unexpected. “ We still give up the big play too many times” added Coach Martin. Springville moves to 1-5 with the loss and looks to get back on the winning side when they travel to Central City for the Annual Tractor Bowl. The O’s are in possession of the rivalry trophy and will no doubt be prepared to keep it! JV will get us going at 5:30—see you on the sidelines! (Photo courtesy of Marty Hagensick)
