ABSTRACT

This research in action involves three universities: Canadá, México and the United States. The

objective of the work reported below is to detect and increase the knowledge base and practices

generated in transformational leadership in order to prepare school leaders Attention Centers

Multiples of Special Education Services assigned to the Quality Schools program in Monterrey,

Nuevo Leon, Mexico. The theory of transformational leadership in which this research is based is

that of Bass and Avolio (1995). The study is divided into five stages of professional training,

including a sample of seventy-six hundred twenty school leaders and participants in the workshop

of transformational leadership teachers, whose perceptions were explored from the Multifactor

Leadership Questionnaire. Preliminary qualitative and quantitative results determined the

existence of traditional leaders in administrative actions. Initial finding reveals that the profile of

perception managers who have their own policy function contrasts with the perception of

teachers, who believe that their leaders mainly develop actions and transactional leadership

behaviors.

Keywords: Transformational leadership, transactional leadership, leadership behaviors and

actions, school management, school leadership.
