Quiero aprovechar esta oportunidad para enviar un afectuoso saludo a todas y todos los participantes en Fruit Attraction 2011. Esta feria se ha consolidado como cita anual ineludible para el sector hortofrutcola espaol e internacional por su capacidad para interrelacionar y provocar sinergias positivas entre todos los agentes que intervienen en la cadena alimentaria. Cuestiones como la calidad y excelencia de nuestras producciones, sus implicaciones medioambientales, la promocin, la investigacin cientfica, las innovaciones tecnolgicas o la eficiencia energtica tendrn en esta feria un lugar destacado.

Espaa es lder mundial en exportacin de frutas y hortalizas, de forma que este sector se ha convertido ya en uno de los principales activos de nuestra economa. Por eso, quiero desear a expositores, visitantes y colaboradores de esta feria que su participacin en este certamen les sirva para mejorar la competitividad y sostenibilidad de su actividad, avanzando hacia ese futuro ilusionante y prometedor que este sector se merece.

I would like to take advantage of this opportunity to extend my warmest regards to each and every participant at Fruit Attraction 2011. This trade fair has become firmly established as the essential annual event for the Spanish and international fruit and vegetable industry thanks to its capacity to interrelate and create positive synergies between the

intervening agents in the food chain. Matters such as the quality and excellence of our production, the environmental implications, promotion, scientific research, technological innovations or energy efficiency shall all have a spotlight at this trade event.

Spain is the world leader in terms of fruit and vegetable exports, to such an extent that this sector has already become one of the principal assets in our economy. For this reason I hope that the participation of all the exhibitors, visitors and collaborators in Fruit Attraction helps them all to improve the competitiveness and sustainability of their activities and move towards the brighter and better future this sector so deserves.

Es para mi una gran satisfaccin poder dirigirme desde estas pginas a ustedes, profesionales del sector hortofrutcola. Este espacio, me proporciona la ocasin de darles la bienvenida a la Feria en una edicin especialmente emblemtica por los desafos a los que ha tenido que hacer frente el sector espaol en pasados meses. A pesar de los problemas, las empresas y profesionales dedicados a este segmento han demostrado, una vez ms, la fortaleza y la competitividad de las compaas que trabajan para que el sector espaol mantenga su liderazgo en la exportacin de frutas y verduras, al mismo tiempo que refuerza el prestigio de sus productos en los mercados internacionales.

Desde IFEMA, y con esta tercera edicin de FRUIT ATTRACTION, pretendemos hacer nuestra aportacin para subrayar la calidad de la oferta hortofrutcola espaola, y crear el escenario para que la gran distribucin internacional pueda comprobar sus cualidades, y favorecer as, las transacciones comerciales entre una y otra parte. De esta forma, pretendemos tambin contribuir a la dinamizacin de un relevante sector para la economa espaola, en una coyuntura tan delicada como en la que nos encontramos.

Creo que puedo decir, sin miedo a equivocarme, que la eficacia de la Feria ha quedado corroborada durante sus dos ediciones anteriores. Por esta razn, FRUIT ATTRACTION sigue creciendo y atrayendo a nuevos expositores que tambin desean disfrutar de las oportunidades que se crean en el Saln. Un certamen con el que hemos querido llevar a la mxima expresin nuestra vocacin de servicio a los expositores, verdaderos protagonistas de la cita, creando un modelo ajustado a la realidad y trasladando al escenario de la Feria las peticiones transmitidas por los profesionales para responder, con eficacia, a las necesidades del sector.

Tambin guiados por las demandas de los profesionales, en esta ocasin de los visitantes pertenecientes a la gran distribucin que acuden a FRUIT ATTRACTION, hemos intensificado la campaa para atraer a las compaas latinoamericanas, que completan con su oferta especfica y de complementariedad estacional, las exigencias de los compradores de ms alto nivel. Adems, es un papel consolidado de IFEMA servir como puerta de entrada a los mercados europeos en Hispanoamrica, regin con la que nos une nuestra cultura y nuestro idioma, y viceversa.

Todos estos factores, nos hacen indicar que estamos ante una nueva provechosa edicin de FRUIT ATTRACTION, un foro de encuentro para favorecer el negocio de las empresas hortofrutcolas.

I am delighted to be able to address you, the fruit and vegetable industry, from these pages. It as an opportunity for me to welcome you to a particularly emblematic edition of the trade fair in the light of the challenges the Spanish sector has faced during recent months. In spite of the problems, companies and trade professionals in this segment have shown, yet again, the strength and competiveness of the companies working in the Spanish sector and that they are still leading fruit and vegetable exporters, while enhancing the prestige of their products in international markets.

With this, the third edition of FRUIT ATTRACTION, IFEMA wants our contribution to be to highlight the quality of Spains fruit and vegetable products and to create a setting where international mass distribution will witness this first hand, thus encouraging business transactions between both parties. We also aim to breathe life into a sector that is extremely important to Spains economy, given the delicate situation in which we find ourselves.

I believe I can say, without fear of error, that the effectiveness of this trade fair has been proven by the results of its two previous editions. That is why FRUIT ATTRACTION is continuing to grow and to attract new exhibitors who also want to enjoy the opportunities created at the Trade Fair. We want this event to be the maximum expression of our mission to be of service to exhibitors, the real stars of the event, by creating a model adapted to the situation and taking into account the requests made by trade professionals and to respond to the sectors needs in an efficient manner.

Also guided by the demands of the sector, on this occasion we have stepped up our campaign to attract representatives of Latin American mass distribution to FRUIT ATTRACTION, who meet the needs of high level buyers thanks to their specific products and their complementary seasons. Whats more, IFEMA is committed to its role to serve as a gateway to European Markets in Latin America, a region with which we share our culture and language, and vice-versa.

All these factors enable us to say that this edition of FRUIT ATTRACTION will be a worthwhile one, a meeting place that will boost business for fruit and vegetable companies.

Fulfilling the expectations that you, the sector, have from the trade fair, will also mean we have achieved our own aims.

Es para m una satisfaccin darles la bienvenida a FRUIT ATTRACTION, la feria de frutas y hortalizas que celebra este ao su tercera edicin y que ha sido catalogada como internacional. En tres aos consideramos que la feria se est posicionando como un potente instrumento comercial del sector hortofrutcola, que tambin contribuye a demostrar la importancia social y econmica de nuestra actividad productiva y comercial. Ello se debe, en gran medida, al apoyo que estamos recibiendo tanto de los expositores como de los visitantes.

A los visitantes les deseo que Fruit Attraction cumpla sus expectativas de negocio que genera un proyecto nuevo y en crecimiento, que surge y se consolida en plena crisis. A los expositores desearles una buena feria. El 93% de los expositores del ao pasado vuelven en esta tercera edicin y eso es una buena seal en un momento como el actual. Estos expositores, muchos de ellos productores de frutas y hortalizas, estn pasando por momentos difciles y precisamente ahora quiero reivindicar la figura del productor, en sus mltiples facetas, y su importancia para la agricultura y la economa. En un momento de grave crisis econmica propiciada, en gran parte, por actividades econmicas especulativas y por burbujas de diversos tipos, se habla de volver a la actividad productiva, de invertir en el tejido productivo, de volver a la economa real. Pues bien, creo que el sector de frutas y hortalizas es un ejemplo de actividad econmica ligada al desarrollo de su territorio, y adems, con orientacin al mercado, lo que requiere el acceso a mltiples bienes y servicios, tambin presentes en FRUIT ATTRACTION. Los bienes y servicios, la industria auxiliar, las actividades complementarias a la produccin, determinan, en gran medida la competitividad de nuestros productos y empresas por eso quiero agradecerles tambin su implicacin en la feria.

Por ltimo me gustara concluir destacando que ofrecemos los productos ms saludables de la dieta alimenticia. Es indudable y nadie cuestiona los beneficios para la salud de las frutas y hortalizas y en este sentido FRUIT ATTRACTION cuenta tambin con actividades para fomentar el consumo, que complementan la actividad comercial. FRUIT ATTRACTION ha tenido en cuenta todas las vertientes de nuestra realidad sectorial y creo que est contribuyendo al desarrollo comercial, poltico y social del sector de frutas y hortalizas.

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to FRUIT ATTRACTION, the fruit and vegetable trade fair. This year marks the third year the fair has been held, an event that has been heralded as international. Over these last three years, we believe the fair has positioned itself as a powerful commercial tool in the fruit and vegetable sector, one that helps to demonstrate the social and economic importance of our business, both in terms of production as well as commercial activity. This has come about largely as a result of the support that we have received from both exhibitors as well as visitors. For our visitors,

I hope that FRUIT ATTRACTION meets your expectations and that it leads to new projects and sustained growth in the midst of this crisis. For our exhibitors, I wish you a great fair. Ninety-three percent of our exhibitors from last year returned to take part in this, the third annual fair. This is a good sign indeed in times like these. Our exhibitors, many of whom are fruit and vegetable producers, are going through some rough times, and it is precisely now that I believe we need to breathe new life into the figure of the producer, their many facets, and the critical role they play in our agricultural sector and in our economy. In this time of deep economic turmoil, largely brought about by financial speculation and bubbles of different types, there is talk of returning to production, to investing in the productive community, to returning to the real economy. Well, I think that the fruit and vegetable sector is an excellent example of a business that is linked to the development of a region, and furthermore, in terms of the market, it is a sector which requires access to a large array of goods and services, which you will also find here at FRUIT ATTRACTION. It is these goods and services, the auxiliary industries, the business activities which are complementary to production, which by and large determine the competiveness of our products and our business. This is why I would like to thank you for being part of this trade fair.

To conclude, I would like to remind everyone that what we offer here are the healthiest products for a nutritional diet. There is no dispute; no one questions the health benefits of fruits and vegetables. And it is for this reason that FRUIT ATTRACTION also presents activities which promote the consumption of fruits and vegetables, activities which are complementary to commercial endeavours. FRUIT ATTRACTION has taken into account all of the different facets of the current climate of our sector, and I believe that it contributes significantly to the commercial, political and social development of the fruit and vegetable sector.
