As the Directors of the Sangre de Cristo Health Care Project, we never tire of sharing about the good that is being done through our many services. La espiritualidad fue un elemento importante que nos guió durante el 2016 y nos fortaleció para el servicio. Comenzamos el año con una bendición ceremonial y reflexión dirigida por Hna. Dani, seguida a medio año con un encuentro espiritual para el equipo durante el cual mucha energía y bendiciones fueron compartidas. Nuestro año terminó bajo los árboles con un ritual de gratitud, dando gracias por la gracia que habíamos recibido y compartido durante 2016.Spirituality was an important element that guided us through 2016 and strengthened us for service. We started off the year with a ceremonial blessing and reflection led by Sister Dani, followed by a midyear spiritual encounter for the team during which lots of energy and blessings were shared. And our year ended with an outdoor thanksgiving ritual, giving thanks for the grace we had received and shared during 2016.

La educación y la capacitación del personal durante 2016 abrieron de nuevo las puertas al aprendizaje para un mejor servicio. 91% del personal participaron en actividades educativas extracurriculares. Nuestras cuatro médicas completaron 5 años de educación continua con la Liga del Pulmón. La relación con este grupo ha sido una bendición para nuestras médicas y aún más para nuestros pacientes que son los que realmente reciben los beneficios de esta educación y la atención de especialistas. Cinco auxiliares de farmacia recibieron su diploma para otro nivel del curso de farmacia ofrecido en la Universidad de San Carlos. Otros talleres incluyeron computación, técnicas de archivar y procesos de comunicación. Además, 6 miembros del equipo continúan su educación formal a nivel universitario. Un personal mejor preparado nos ayuda a servir mejor a los y las que reciben nuestros servicios.

En conmemoración de Día de la Madre Tierra y viviendo nuestro compromiso de promover el cuidado de los recursos naturales, el equipo médico acompañó a las personas de la #MarchaPor-ElAguaGt, lavando los pies de personas quienes han recorrido cientos de kilómetros, limpiando sus heridas,repartiendo suero y atendiendo sus dolencias. Y el Programa de Salud Ambiental juntó con la escuela de San Luis creando conciencia en los niños y las niñas sembrando un pequeño bosque.In commemoration of Earth Day and living out our commitment to promote the care of natural resources, the medical team accompanied the people of the #MarchaPorElAguaGt, washing the feet of persons who had walked hundreds of kilometers, cleaning their wounds, distributing rehydration fluids and attending to their ailments. And the Environmental Health and Sanitation Program, together with the San Luis School, raised children's awareness by planting trees.

Celebrando nuestra gente: Amayda De León, una enfermera ejemplar, fue honrada por su 20 aniversario de servicio en el Proyecto de Salud y el Dr. Antonio Cambranes fue honrado por el Colegio de Estomato-lógico de Guatemala por su 25 aniversario como dentista y estamos muy agradecidos de que 18 de estos años ha estado brindando ser-vicio en nuestras clínicas dentales.

Celebrating our staff: Amayda De Leon, an exemplary nurse, was honored for her 20th anniversary of service in the Health Care Project and Dr. Antonio Cambranes was honored by the Guatemalan Dental Board for his 25th anniversary as a dentist and we are so grateful that 18 of these years has been providing service in our dental clinics.

ACTIVIDADES Y EVENTOS NOTABLES DE 2016/HIGHLIGHTS AND HAPPENINGS OF 2016

Staff education and training during the course of 2016 opened the doors once again to learning for better service. 91% of personal participated in extracurricular educational activities. Our four physicians completed 5 years of continuing education with the Guatemalan Pulmonary Association. The relationship with this group has been a blessing for our doctors and even more for our patients who are the ones that really receive the benefits of this education and the attention by specialists. Five pharmacy techs received their diploma for another level of the pharmacy course offered at the San Carlos University. Other workshops included computer skills, filing techniques and communication processes. In addition, 6 staff members continue their formal education at the university level. Better prepared staff has assists us to better serve those who receive our services.

Respondiendo a nuestro compromiso social, el Programa de Salud Ambiental de Proyecto de Salud Sangre de Cristo, en coordinación con el IARNA, de la Universidad Rafael Landívar, organizó el evento de FORO: IMPACTO DE MEGAPROYECTOS EN AGUA, SALUD Y AMBIENTE. El foro tuvo lugar en San Pedro Ayampuc con ponentes Lic. Virginia Mosquera y Dr. Marcelo Zamora, IARNA y Ioannen Pérez, UAS, de la Universidad Rafael Landívar y la participación de representantes de los Ministerios de Educación y Salud, la PNC y la Sociedad Civil.Responding to our social commitment, the Environmental Health Program of the Sangre de Cristo Health Care Project, in coordination with IARNA, Rafael Landívar University, organized the event FORUM: IMPACT OF MEGAPROJECTS IN WATER, HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT. The forum took place in San Pedro Ayampuc with speakers Dr. Virginia Mosquera and Dr. Marcelo Zamora, IARNA and Ioannen Pérez, UAS, of Rafael Landívar University, along with the participation of representatives of the Guatemalan Education and Health Departments, the National Police and members of civil society.

En diciembre, la junta directiva 2014 - 2016 celebró su última reunión. Acciones notables de la Junta durante este período incluyeron el aumento de la participación activa en la toma de decisiones del Proyecto, la construcción de la nueva clínica en La Laguneta y la intervención en la resolución de complicaciones de construcción, el apoyo técnico para mejorar las evaluaciones de los programas y el inicio de la reestructuración administrativa. Les damos las gracias por el servicio y la dirección que han proporcionado en los últimos 3 años.In December the 2014 – 2016 Board of Directors held their last meeting. Noteworthy actions of the Board during this period included increased active participation in Project decision making, the building of the new clinic in La Laguneta and intervention in the resolution of construction complications, technical support in bettering program evaluations and the initiation of administrative restructuring. We thank them for the service and guidance they provided over the past 3 years.

El presupuesto operativo por el año 2016 fue de $ 463,824.00 (Q 3,501,875.00) y con estos recursos economicos tuvimos un impacto positivo a traves de servicios directos en la calidad de vida de mas de 95,000 personas que viven en las comunidades de nuestra area.
