l consumo responsable de pescado y mariscos es esencial

para la protección y sustentabilidad de nuestros recursos pesqueros. El Consejo de Administración Pesquera del Caribe, desea promover ese consumo responsable de pescado y mariscos, y que todos aportemos a la protección de nuestras pesquerías. Usted, como consumidor responsable, cuando compra en la pescadería, en el supermercado o en un restaurante hace una aportación importante si:

• Aprende a reconocer las especies de peces y otros organismos marinos que se pescan en Puerto Rico.• Se familiariza con los datos de la historia natural de esas especies y los hábitas que ocupan.• Conoce las épocas de veda que se aplican a estas especies como medida de protección,• Compra o consume en su casa y en el restaurante solamente especies que no están en veda.• Selecciona otras especies de peces y de mariscos, pescados localmente que no están en veda. • Aprende a cocinarlo en diferentes formas que permiten un mejor aprovechamiento del producto.

• Learn to recognize the species of fish and other marine organisms that are fished in Puerto Rico.• Familiarize yourself with the natural history of these species and the habitats they occupy.• Know the closure dates and regulations that are applied to these species for their protection.• Buy or consume, at home and in the restaurant, only those species that are not prohibited. • Select other species of fish and seafood, locally caught that are not prohibited.• Learn to cook in different ways that allow a better use of the product.
