Al comienzo del año 2015 tuve un sueño; estaba en Roma frente al Vaticano con mi familia en espera de la bendición del Papa Francisco. Lo esperaba ansiosa por una puerta y lo vi salir con su vestimenta blanca. Luego de su presencia, la cual me impresionó muchísimo, me dejó con una “Madre Superiora” también vestida de blanco, la cual me presentaba a otras dos mujeres líderes de diferentes congregaciones. Yo no decía nada, la MS hablaba todo de mí, de la misión de CyE con mucho entusiasmo, al punto que las mujeres se admiraban y me admiraban. Yo al igual me sentía muy

alagada. Luego de tal introducción a mi derecha e izquierda de la MS, quien estaba al frente mío, había un aparador con muchos regalos, aceites, perfumes,

rosarios, crucifijos, frascos innumerables de bellezas que alegraban la vista. La MS me invito a que cogiera cuanto quisiera. Yo, prudentemente escogí algunos, pero ella insistió: “no, llévate más y más”. No cabían más en mis manos y brazos, ni en los de ella; ella me dijo: “te voy a buscar una bolsa grande donde los

puedas llevar”. Yo me sentía tan alegre, no solo vi al

Papa Francisco, sino que recibí tantos regalos. Luego en mi sueño me vuelvo a ver frente a ese lugar sagrado de donde salió el Papa y la MS; solo que esta vez veo sentadas sobre el contén o cera de la maravillosa estructura de piedra, a tres mujeres. Yo estaba de pie frente a ellas y pude observar que tenían la misma vestimenta. Llevaban un hábito del color “café con leche” o crema oscuro amarillento y en su cabeza un manto

Agradecemos a Dios y a todas las familias por haber hecho posible

esta hermosa celebración donde una vez más recibimos con amor a nuestro Señor

Jesucristo.

Todos los años comenzamos nuestras actividades con un retiro de facilitadores al cual se invita a todas las personas que son parte de nuestra comunidad de Camino y Esperanza. Este año asistieron más de 100 facilitadores y estamos muy contentos y agradecidos a Dios por estos retiros que son de gran importancia para cada uno de nosotros. Creemos firmemente que Dios a través de su Espíritu Santo se manifestó en cada una de los facilitadores que asistieron y se dieron la oportunidad de llenarse de las gracias que Dios nos brinda a cada día y que muchas veces ya sea por la vida diaria, por todas las cosas que hay en este mundo, tanta mentira que nos envuelve nuestra mente, nos dejamos llevar y poco a poco nos vamos alejando sin darnos cuenta. En cada retiro Dios nos habla de diferentes formas, en este en especial nos invita a seguir creciendo firmes como comunidad, el Señor quiere de nosotros que en verdad creamos y tengamos fe de que es El quien nos ha llamado. Debemos recordar la misericordia que ha tenido con nosotros, el Señor tiene el poder de quitarnos todo aquello que nos detiene a entregarnos a Él, pero solamente si nosotros estamos dispuestos a dejarlo todo y aceptar que es Dios quien mueve y dirige nuestras vidas a cada momento. Dios se nos revela en muchas formas, no dejemos que se apague el fuego, sigamos caminando con valentía, fortaleza y sobre todo con mucho amor, para que ese fuego crezca y que la luz que en nosotros brilla sea una luz de esperanza para los demás. Les invitamos a que sigan fuertes en oración, que todo lo que Dios permite siempre es bueno.

Every year we kick off our activities with a facilitators retreat in which those invited are members who make up the community of Camino y Esperanza. This year, more than 100 facilitators attended and we are very happy and grateful to God for this retreat which is of great importance to each of us. We firmly believe that God, through His Holy Spirit, manifested His self in each of the facilitators who attended and were given the opportunity to be filled with the grace that God gives us every day, many times either by daily life or for all the things that exist in this world, all the many lies that wrap up our minds, little by little we let ourselves go without even realizing it. In each retreat God speaks to us in different ways, but in this particular retreat, He invites us to continue growing firm as a community. We also believe that what the Lord wants from us is to truly have faith that He has called each and every one of us. We must remember the mercy which has been bestowed upon us - the Lord has the power to remove everything that is provided to us, but only if we are not willing to leave everything and accept that it is God who moves and directs our lives at every moment. God reveals himself to us in many ways and we must not let the flame from within extinguish, let's walk with courage, strength and above all, love. This fire grows and this light that shines in us is a beacon of hope for others. We invite you to follow in prayer, that everything God allows always is good.

Francisco expone que “el misterio de la misericordia divina se revela a lo largo de la historia de la alianza entre Dios y su pueblo Israel”. “Dios, en efecto, se muestra siempre rico en misericordia, dispuesto a derramar en su pueblo, en cada circunstancia, una ternura y una compasión visceral, especialmente en los momentos más dramáticos, cuando la infidelidad rompe el vínculo del Pacto y es preciso ratificar la alianza de modo más estable en la justicia y la verdad”. A su parecer, se trata de “un auténtico drama de amor, en el cual Dios desempeña el papel de padre y de marido traicionado, mientras que Israel el de hijo/hija y el de esposa infiel”. “Como hombre, Jesús de Nazaret es hijo de Israel a todos los efectos. Y lo es hasta tal punto que encarna la escucha perfecta de Dios que el Shemà requiere a todo judío, y que todavía hoy es el corazón de la alianza de Dios con Israel: Escucha, Israel: El Señor es nuestro Dios, el Señor es uno solo. Amarás, pues, al Señor, tu Dios, con todo tu corazón, con toda tu alma y con todas tus fuerzas”.

El Pontífice indicó que “mediante las corporales tocamos la carne de Cristo en los hermanos y hermanas que necesitan ser nutridos, vestidos, alojados, visitados, mientras que las espirituales tocan más directamente nuestra condición de pecadores: aconsejar, enseñar, perdonar, amonestar, rezar”. “La misericordia de Dios, en efecto, es un anuncio al mundo: pero cada cristiano está llamado a experimentar en primera persona ese anuncio” y por eso en la Cuaresma “enviaré a los Misioneros de la Misericordia, a fin de que sean para todos un signo concreto de la cercanía y del perdón de Dios”, explica el Papa. El Santo Padre indica que “María, después de haber acogido la Buena Noticia que le dirige el arcángel Gabriel, canta proféticamente en el Magnificat la misericordia con la que Dios la ha elegido” convirtiéndose así en “icono perfecto de la Iglesia que evangeliza, porque fue y sigue siendo evangelizada por obra del Espíritu Santo, que hizo fecundo su vientre virginal”.

El Vaticano ha presentado esta mañana el mensaje del Papa Francisco para la Cuaresma de este año con el título «“Misericordia quiero y no sacrificio” (Mt 9,13). Las obras de misericordia en el camino jubilar». En el texto, Francisco asegura que a través

de las obras de misericordia se puede mostrar al prójimo el amor de Dios, capaz de transformar “el corazón del hombre haciéndole experimentar un amor fiel, y lo hace a su vez capaz de misericordia”. “Es siempre un milagro el que la misericordia divina se irradie en la vida de cada uno de nosotros, impulsándonos a amar al prójimo y animándonos a vivir lo que la tradición de la Iglesia llama las obras de misericordia corporales y espirituales”. Además, explica que la Cuaresma “es un tiempo favorable para salir por fin de nuestra alienación existencial gracias a la escucha de la Palabra y a las obras de misericordia”.

El Santo Padre explica que “el Hijo de Dios es el Esposo que hace cualquier cosa por ganarse el amor de su Esposa, con quien está unido con un amor incondicional, que se hace visible en las nupcias eternas con ella”. “Es éste el corazón del kerygma apostólico, en el cual la misericordia divina ocupa un lugar central y fundamental”, destaca. En definitiva, “en Jesús crucificado, Dios quiere alcanzar al pecador incluso en su lejanía más extrema, justamente allí donde se perdió y se alejó de Él. Y esto lo hace con la esperanza de poder así, finalmente, enternecer el corazón endurecido de su Esposa”. Sobre las llamadas obras de misericordia, el Papa pide reflexionar durante este Año Santo porque es un modo de “despertar nuestra conciencia, muchas veces aletargada ante el drama de la pobreza, y para entrar todavía más en el corazón del Evangelio, donde los pobres son los privilegiados de la misericordia divina”. En el Mensaje, el Papa también manifiesta la existencia de personas que se creen ricas pero en realidad son pobres. “Esto es así porque es esclavo del pecado, que lo empuja a utilizar la riqueza y el poder no para servir a Dios y a los demás, sino parar sofocar dentro de sí la íntima convicción de que tampoco él es más que un pobre mendigo”. “Y cuanto mayor es el poder y la riqueza a su disposición, tanto mayor puede llegar a ser este engañoso ofuscamiento”, afirma. A su juicio, este ofuscamiento lleva a un “soberbio delirio de omnipotencia en el cual resuena siniestramente el demoníaco ‘seréis como Dios’, que es la raíz de todo pecado”. “Ese delirio también puede asumir formas sociales y políticas, como han mostrado los totalitarismos del siglo XX, y como muestran hoy las ideologías del pensamiento único y de la tecnociencia, que pretenden hacer que Dios sea irrelevante y que el hombre se reduzca a una masa para utilizar”, advierte el Pontífice. “Y actualmente también pueden mostrarlo las estructuras de pecado vinculadas a un modelo falso de desarrollo, basado en la idolatría del dinero, como consecuencia del cual las personas y las sociedades más ricas se vuelven indiferentes al destino de los pobres, a quienes cierran sus puertas, negándose incluso a mirarlos”.

El Papa también señala que “a través de este camino también los ‘soberbios’, los ‘poderosos’ y los ‘ricos’, de los que habla el Magníficat, tienen la posibilidad de darse cuenta de que son inmerecidamente amados por Cristo crucificado, muerto y resucitado por ellos”.

In modern times, this illusion is seen in “the ideologies of monopolizing thought and technoscience, which would make God irrelevant and reduce man to raw material to be exploited.” The Pope went on to explain how the illusion can link back to the “idolatry of money,” leading to a lack of concern for the poor “on the part of wealthier individuals and societies.” “They close their doors, refusing even to see the poor,” he said. “For all of us, then, the season of Lent in this Jubilee Year is a favourable time to overcome our existential alienation by listening to God’s word and by practising the works of mercy.” Pope Francis stressed that “the corporal and spiritual works of mercy must never be separated.” “By touching the flesh of the crucified Jesus in the suffering, sinners can receive the gift of realizing that they too are poor and in need,” he said. “This love alone is the answer to that yearning for infinite happiness and love that we think we can satisfy with the idols of knowledge, power and riches.” The Pope warned against constantly refusing “to open the doors of their hearts to Christ who knocks on them in the poor,” as such consistent refusal on the part on the part of the “proud, rich and powerful” leads to condemnation. He describes Mary as the “perfect icon of the Church which evangelizes, for she was, and continues to be, evangelized by the Holy Spirit, who made her virginal womb fruitful.” Pope Francis then reflected on the history of mercy as seen in the covenant between God and the people of Israel. “God shows himself ever rich in mercy, ever ready to treat his people with deep tenderness and compassion, especially at those tragic moments when infidelity ruptures the bond of the covenant, which then needs to be ratified more firmly in justice and truth,” he said. “Here is a true love story, in which God plays the role of the betrayed father and husband, while Israel plays the unfaithful child and bride.” “This love story culminates in the incarnation of God's Son,” who the Father has made “mercy incarnate,” the Pope said, citing the Jubilee Bull of Induction. “As the Son of God, he is the Bridegroom who does everything to win over the love of his bride, to whom he is bound by an unconditional love which becomes visible in the eternal wedding feast.” Pope Francis reflected how it is through mercy that God restores his relationship with the sinner. “In Jesus crucified, God shows his desire to draw near to sinners, however far they may have strayed from him. In this way he hopes to soften the hardened heart of his Bride.” Pope Francis concluded the message by calling on Mary's intercession during the upcoming Season of Lent. “Let us not waste this season of Lent, so favourable a time for conversion!”

gozando en sus hogares de la maravillosa presencia de Jesucristo Nuestro Señor. También quiero presentarme ante aquellos que todavía no conocen de nuestra misión. Solamente estamos siendo obedientes al llamado que Dios nos has hecho a través de la persona de Cristo y dirigidos por la Iglesia a través de los obispos. Hemos sido llamados a fortalecer el matrimonio y a integrar la familia, acentuando el valor infinito del Sacramento del Matrimonio en la Persona de Cristo como Esposo de la Iglesia. Mi Esposa Ana Mercedes, nuestra hija Eileen y su servidor Roberto Rivas, somos los encargados junto con los obispos, sacerdotes y facilitadores que han creído en la misión, porque han visto los frutos en las familias, adultos, jóvenes y niños que gracias a Dios alcanzamos a través de esta misión.

Mi nombre es María López ¿Cómo empezó nuestro camino con Dios y Camino y Esperanza? Bueno antes de conocer a Dios y a Camino de Esperanza mi familia estaba junta, pero a la vez separada, había muchos gritos y muchos pleitos, muchos enojos, todos los días peleábamos y siempre estábamos así. Pienso que desde niña había mucho coraje en mi. Gracias a Dios me dio un buen esposo, pero no sabía valorado. Todo empezó un día que estamos en misa una pareja de Camino y Esperanza pasó a dar un anuncio que iba a haber un retiro de parejas. La pareja que estaba anunciando dijo, “el que quiera ir, nosotros vamos a estar afuera apuntando a todos los interesados y yo me anoté”. Y la señora me decía “María si vas a ir al retiro, yo puedo ir a tu casa a buscarte”. Y si, ella fue a buscarme a mi casa porque a mí ya se me había olvidado del retiro. Y cuando por fin vivimos nuestro retiro quedamos enamorados porque ahí en ese retiro me llegó muchísimo lo de los hijos. Nosotros fuimos a al retiro pensando que no teníamos problemas entre mi esposo y yo y pensamos que estábamos bien y ahí nos dimos cuenta que teníamos muchos .

Teníamos muchos problemas con nuestros hijos y entre nosotros. A nuestros hijos nunca le dimos el tiempo que ellos necesitaban porque no estábamos ahí por ellos, no les tenía paciencia por mi trabajo, por el estrés que había en la casa. Tenemos 4 hijos y por la vida que vivíamos no tenían confianza en mí porque se la pasaban haciendo sus propias cosas y como yo decía que no tenía tiempo para ellos, tampoco ellos tenían tiempo para mí. Después que salimos del retiro me di cuenta de la clase de persona que yo era, como yo no era una buena madre porque mis hijos no podían contar conmigo ni siquiera como una amiga y como esposa tampoco valoraba a mi esposo. No importaba si el 90% de las cosas iban bien, con el 10% malo que hubiera bastaba para tener pleitos. Nosotros vivimos nuestros retiros de parejas y yo las de mujeres y él de hombres. Todos nuestros retiros, hablando por mí misma me han ayudado a ver que yo no era una buena madre, una buena esposa y mucho menos una buena hija. Aunque aún sigo en el proceso de cambio.

I want to take this moment to thank each and every member of this beautiful and essential mission of Camino y Esperanza, without whom many families would not be rejoicing the wonderful presence of Jesus Christ our Lord within their homes. I would like to take this time to introduce myself to those who do not know about our mission, that we are only being obedient to the calling that God has made to us through the person of Christ and directed through the Church by way of our bishops, to be servants and subjected to the Holy Spirit, to strengthen marriage and the family, to recognize the infinite value of the person of Christ the Lord in this Sacrament. My wife, Ana Mercedes, our daughter Eileen and your server Deacon Roberto Rivas, are in charge in collaboration with the bishops, priests, and facilitators who together have believed in the mission, because they have seen the fruits of the efforts of the families, adults, youth and children, thanking God we have reached this goal by way of this mission. Lo hermoso que al momento que me acercaba para inclinarme a ellas, de mi lado izquierdo de mi cabeza veo que rueda hacia mi rostro el mismo manto azul y blanco, entonces observe mi vestimenta y yo vestía el mismo hábito que ellas. De la alegría y emoción, mientras ellas me sonreían, desperté. Desperté con esa alegría, emoción y sensación tan real, que me dije: “es real”. Gracias Dios mío, Tu vas a permitir que veamos al Papa y traigamos bendiciones para nuestras familias y sobre todo para la Misión. Comprendí que la Madre, era y es la Virgen y las tres monjitas, traían la vestimenta de la Sagrada Familia: el café claro o crema poco Amarillo es San José, el Azul es la Virgen y el Blanco es Jesús. Hoy es 11 de enero del 2016. Estoy en mi pueblo natal Añasco, P.R. Quise coger unos días de Sabático, para según yo, descansar y reflexionar un poco sobre todo el trabajo y la labor del año 2015 y proyectar hacia el año en curso. La realidad es que desde que vine de Roma, el 6 de Noviembre 2015, he estado enferma y aún no me recupero. Ese año fue muy duro para mí y a la vez muy lleno de bendiciones. Casi escuché la voz de Jesús, decirme como a Pedro: “Satanás ha pedido permiso para sarandearte, pero Yo he rogado por tí, para que tu fe no se vaya abajo” Gracias Señor! O como le dijo el Señor a Pablo: “mi Gracia te basta”. Había momentos en que en verdad, no sabía si era gracia o desgracia”. Pero estoy consciente del refrán: “El que se mete a redentor, muere crucificado”. No en vano Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: “El que no carga con su cruz para seguirme, no puede ser mi discipulo”. Reconozco qué he sido envidiosa, rencorosa celosa, muy gritona y sobre todo me gustaba juzgar a las personas sin conocerlas. Le doy gracias a Dios porque ahora sé que Él ha estado siempre conmigo y que lo haya tenido todo y no he valorado nada. Gracias a Dios tengo unos hijos sanos y un marido bueno. Yo les diría a todas las personas que se den la oportunidad de venir a vivir un retiro, de conocer a Dios, porque ahí nos damos cuenta de nuestros errores ahí reconocemos quiénes somos, cuando uno reconoce quién eres cambia tu vida, ves la realidad y sobre todo aprendes a valorar a tu familia. El hecho de reconocerse uno mismo nos ayuda a poder dar amor a los demás, cuando conoces a Dios lo ponemos en el centro de nuestro hogar, en tu corazón tú con esa fe te fortaleces de él dejas todo en manos de Dios, y Dios nunca nos abandona siempre nos ayuda, siempre tiene un plan para nosotros. Esto es lo que nos dijo José López: Antes de llegar a Camino y Esperanza yo no era muy creyente de Dios, sabía que existía, pero no lo creía. Mi esposa llegó un día invitándome a un retiro y yo le dije que sí que cuando ella quisiera yo iba, entonces hubo la oportunidad de vivir el primer retiro y pues maravilloso me encantó. Ahí vimos todos los problemas que teníamos porque supuestamente nosotros no teníamos ninguno como para vivir un retiro. Pero vivirlo nos llevó a ver la verdad, yo me la pasaba mucho trabajando, trabajaba de 6 de la mañana hasta las 11 de la noche según para que no nos faltara nada en la casa, pero faltaba lo más importante que era el amor y siempre con el entusiasmo de juntar dinero, entre más ganaba más gastaba y nunca juntaba nada sólo era gastar y gastar. Pero le doy gracias a Dios por traernos a esta misión dónde nos hicieron ver nuestros errores y lo mal que estábamos y pues estoy aprendiendo porque yo reconozco que soy un pecador. Quiero seguir conociendo de Dios, quiero ser mejor persona, no voy a enderezar tantos años que viví en el mundo donde maltratar y hablar de manera vulgar era la

vida que llevaba. Gracias a Dios puedo decir que quitado el 95% de todo lo malo que yo hacía, es un caminar y no es fácil y seguimos aquí en la lucha. Yo lo que puedo decir a otras personas es que les hago la invitación a que se den la oportunidad, mucha gente dice que no son buenos los retiros, mucha gente dice que los que se acercan a la iglesia son gente hipócrita. Yo que soy un pecador y no digo que soy un santo, pero como dice la palabra de Dios,” vino a buscar el enfermo, no al sano”. Entonces yo soy uno de esos enfermos y a mi esposa y a mí nos gusta estar en esta misión, tenemos nuestras luchas, pero gracias a Dios ya no son como antes, ahora uno puede entender, nos enojamos, pero sabemos resolver nuestros problemas con Dios en nuestro corazón. Invitó a todas las personas yo sé que hay muchas que no pueden por su trabajo o por otras circunstancias, pero cuando uno se enferma uno deja de hacer todo eso uno trabaja tanto que al final de cuentas no tenemos nada, y de qué sirvió hacer tanto esfuerzo. Para mí ahora estando en la misión tengo mi trabajo y a veces tengo que trabajar los fines de semana, pero para mí ahorita lo más importante es aprender de Dios, conocer más de Él y no importa ahora porque yo voy servir a Dios, aunque tenga que trabajar creo firmemente que Dios es el que me da las fuerzas, es El que me da el pan de cada día, el trabajo. Yo sé que Dios no me va a desamparar, espero que mi fe siga creciendo y en los momentos difíciles espero que Dios siempre esté conmigo para soportar todo lo que venga.

English Version

My name is Maria Lopez, and how did we begin our journey with God and Camino y Esperanza? Well, before I met God and Camino y Esperanza my family was together, but separated at the same time. There were many disagreements and accusations, and much anger all the time. All this anger probably stems from my childhood. I thank God He gave me a good husband, but I never appreciated him. My journey started one day when we were at mass and a couple from Camino y Esperanza proceeded to give an invitation for a couples retreat. The couple that was announcing this asked, “whoever wanted to go, that they would be taking names of those who wanted to attend", so we signed up.

This same lady told me, "Maria if you're going to go to the retreat, I can go to your house to pick you up". And yes, she showed up at my house because I had forgotten about the day. And when at last we lived our retreat we fell in love with it because it put into perspective about the children. We went to the retreat thinking that we had no problems between my husband and I and we thought that we were good and we realized that we had many issues. We saw we had many problems with our children and with each other. We never gave the kids the time because we were not there for them, never had patience for them because of work, and the stress we had at home. We have 4 children and we lived our lives with no confidence in each other because they spent it doing their own thing and as I said, I had no time for them, nor they had no time for me. Realizing this, we left the retreat recognizing the kind of person that I was, I was not a good mother because my children could not count on me even as a friend and also as a wife for not valuing my husband. It didn’t matter if 90% of the things were going well, the 10% bad would be used to argue. We lived all our retreats for couples, I have lived the women’s and he has lived the men’s retreats. All of the retreats, speaking for myself, have helped me to see that I was not a good mother, a good wife, and much less a good daughter. Although, I can say I am still in the process of change. I recognize that I have been envious, spiteful, jealous, someone that to judge people without knowing them. I thank God because now I know that He has always been with me and that I had everything but I valued nothing. Thank God I have a healthy children and a good husband. I would say to all those that are given the opportunity, to come and live a retreat and get to know God. We have recognized our errors and when you recognize who you are, one recognizes to start changing your life, see reality and above all learn to appreciate your family. Recognizing this helps us to be able to give love to others, and we know God put it in the center of our home, in our hearts and gives us faith and strength to leave everything in the hands of God, and God never abandoned us.

My name is José López and before Camino y Esperanza, I wasn't a believer of God. I knew that He existed, but did not believe it. My wife came one day inviting me to a retreat and I said that I would go if she wanted and from there I was able to experience the retreat and I loved it. We were able to see the problems that we had because supposedly we didn't have none to even live a retreat. But the experience made us to see the truth - I was working too much from 6AM until 11PM so that we had everything we needed in the house, but it was missing the most important thing, LOVE. I was preoccupied with making money and the more I made the more I spent and never saved, just spend and spend. But I thank God for bringing us to this mission which made us see our mistakes and how bad we were and had me learn and acknowledge that I am a sinner. I want to be a better person, but

I’m not going to straighten out after years of living in the world where I spoke in such a vulgar manner. Thank God I can say that I don’t do 95% of the bad things I did, but walking with God is not easy but we are still here in the struggle. While many people say retreats are not good, I invite those to give themselves the opportunity to live one. Many people say that those who go to church are hypocrites. I know I am a sinner and I'm not a saint, but as the word of God says, "He came for the sick, not the healthy". I'm one of those who were sick but like my wife we love this mission We have our struggles, but thankfully they are no longer as before, now we understand even with our problems we have God in our hearts. Being with this mission it is very important to learn about God even if I work at times during the weekends but I firmly believe that God gives me the strength to work because He is the provider of our daily bread, our jobs. I know that God will never abandon me, I my hope is that my faith keeps growing even in difficult moments and I hope that God is always with me to support everything that comes our way.
