Summer vacations are coming soonand, and with them, relaxation and thechance of visiting some places in thecountry or abroad come too. Last seasonwas good but it did not have theexpected splendor. Families chose thedestinations according to the prices andthey spent less money; this is the reasonwhy this season is a complete challenge.

In this issue, we offer you many optionsfor adventure and relaxation. Thebeautiful city of Tandil, in Buenos Aires,seduces us into a proposal that includesnot only its famous hills but also underroof activities, such as a journey aroundthe most important museums in the district.

Se aproximan las tan ansiadas vaca-ciones de verano y, de la mano del des-canso, la oportunidad de visitar algún lu-gar del país o del exterior. La temporadapasada fue buena pero no tuvo el es-plendor esperado. Las familias eligieronlos destinos según precios y gastaron me-nos, por lo que este período estival estodo un desafío.

TANDILDistinción al pie de las sierrasRefinada y elegante, esta localidad del sureste de la provincia de BuenosAires ofrece un sinfín de propuestas al aire libre y bajo techo, para todaslas edades.

Día lluvioso en Capital Federal. Casi a las 8:30hs emprendimos cami-no hacia Tandil, a tan sólo 320km.

Al promediar el viaje la lluvia cesaba y las nubes parecían abrirse.Una imagen con un cielo despejado nos llega al celular por un mensajede WhatsApp y nos transmite que en Tandil nos espera buen tiempo.

El micro arriba a la ciudad alrededor de las 12:30hs; el cordón mon-tañoso se impone y el lugar se muestra en todo su esplendor. Nos dan labienvenida los representantes del Ente Mixto de Turismo, quienes nosguiarían durante nuestra estadía.

Día de MuseosUn amanecer ventoso nos hizo cambiar algunos planes. «El día es

ideal para recorrer museos. Es uno de los paseos no tan tradicionalesque ofrece la localidad», nos dicen y nos sumamos a la propuesta. Tandiltiene actividades para todos los gustos, edades y climas. Luego de al-morzar, nos dirigimos al Museo Todo sobre Rieles, donde se puedenapreciar increíbles maquetas de trenes, todo un mundo por descubrir enminiatura. Ahí nos reciben amablemente Jorge y Laura, marido y mujer,quienes comenzaron con este hobby en el año 1960.

«Teníamos una colección privada y quisimos hacer algo con todo lo quecontábamos», relata Laura. Así fue como arribaron a Tandil desde elGran Buenos Aires en el año 2011 hasta que finalmente abrieron laspuertas del establecimiento en el verano de 2012. «Veníamos a Tandilcomo turistas hasta que decidimos radicarnos para bajar los decibelesde vivir en una gran ciudad», agrega.

Luego nos dirigimos al Museo Vehículos de Época, que está confor-mado por un grupo de entusiastas de los fierros antiguos, que disfrutande su elegancia y su historia. En el lugar se pueden encontrar autosclásicos, de época y de colección, bicicletas antiguas, motores y motos.

Ubicado sobre la calle Chacabuco, a escasos metros de la Municipali-dad de Tandil, se encuentra el Museo de Bellas Artes, que atesora unpatrimonio de más de mil obras que forman parte de su acervo divididoen Arte Argentino del siglo XX, Arte Contemporáneo, Arte Sacro y laSala Mercedes Santamarina. Verónica, guía del lugar, nos cuenta queentrar a esta última «inspira el surgimiento de sensaciones, significa co-nocer una parte del pasado de esta bella mujer, sus gustos y aficiones,su recorrido por el mundo y su entorno social». Gran parte de su colec-ción se conforma por una variedad de objetos y pinturas con gran valorartístico e histórico, y fueron donadas por ella misma al Mumbat en elaño 1971. Nieta de Ramón Santamarina, nació en el seno de una familiacélebre y acaudalada de la región. Desde niña desarrolló una finasensibilidad estética que la convirtió en una destacada coleccionista.

Finalmente llegamos al Museo Tradicionalista FuerteIndependencia, donde tuvimos la oportunidad de con-versar con su presidente, Oscar Granato, con quien reco-rrimos las 15 salas. El lugar cuenta con más de diez milpiezas en exhibición sobre los orígenes de Tandil,iconografías, documentos que pertenecieron a José deSan Martín, Domingo F. Sarmiento, Julio A. Roca, entreotros. También se pueden encontrar prendas y armasdesde el granadero a caballo hasta los trajes usados enla Guerra de Malvinas. Pero sin duda, una de las colec-ciones que más sorprende es la de carruajes, «una de lasgrandes joyas del museo» según Granato. La primeraambulancia del servicio municipal de Tandil, carruajeseuropeos y norteamericanos usados para distintos finescomo paseo o caza forman parte de la exhibición.

El mirador de la ciudadComo broche de oro a un día de mucha actividad nos

detuvimos a contemplar la ciudad durante la noche, des-

de el mirador del Parque Independencia. En silencio, nosdejamos maravillar por la luz de una ciudad que se im-ponía bajo un cielo plagado de estrellas, en una vistapanorámica que seguramente permanecerá en nuestrasmemorias. El mirador está situado en la zona urbana, a286,50 metros de altura. En la cima nos encontramos conel distinguido Castillo Morisco, donado por la Colectivi-dad Española, donde se puede almorzar, cenar o disfru-tar del té de la tarde frente a un paisaje de ensueño.

Al aire libre!Al día siguiente, el sol brillaba en todo su esplendor y

los paisajes tandilenses nos esperaban. Gran parte delencanto de Tandil es que ofrece la posibilidad de disfru-tar de variadas actividades, a escasos kilómetros unasde otras.

El Lago se impone en el paisaje serrano. Es un día her-moso y hay gente caminando por la costanera, haciendocanotaje y pescando en un escenario natural que cautiva.

Naturaleza, arte e historia se conjugan en el destinobonaerense de Tandil./ Nature, art and history arecombined in Tandil, a destination in Buenos Aires

En Villa del Lago se puede apreciar el Monumentoa Don Quijote y Sancho Panza, inaugurado en abrilde 2008 por iniciativa de la colectividad españolaresidente en la ciudad. Es una cita obligada para losturistas ansiosos que quieren tomarse fotografías juntoa ellos.

Finalmente arribamos a uno de los grandes atrac-tivos, el Complejo Cerro El Centinela, donde todo estáabsolutamente pensado para que el turista disfrutecada una de las actividades y servicios. Uno de losgrandes atractivos es el paseo en aerosilla. Dejamosel miedo a la altura a un lado y emprendimos latravesía. Desde el aire, el paisaje adquiere un nuevosentido, pareciendo de alguna manera más cercano.El camino de pinares durante el trayecto otorga co-lor al paisaje serrano y brinda una agradable sen-sación de protección.

Pero la aventura no terminó allí, aún nos faltabavisitar el gran atractivo: el monumento granítico ElCentinela, un gigante de casi 7 metros de altura queestá apoyado sobre una base considerablementepequeña en relación a su volumen. Una fotografíaallí es un imperdible para el visitante, que busca cap-turar esta imagen con un paisaje serrano de fondodigno de una postal.

El Complejo cuenta con parador, almacén, panade-ría y plantación de aromáticas. Sobresale su gastro-nomía, combinación de cocina serrana y de autor. Susespecialidades son la cocina en parrillas y hornos deleña que usan solamente piquillín (arbusto serranocuyo fruto es dulce y delicioso), que transmite su sa-bor inconfundible. Se destacan la parrilla de la casa,el cordero patagónico al romero, la bondiola de cer-do grillada a la salvia y tomillo, el conejo a la pi-mienta verde, cazuelas de verduras con caldo de aro-máticas al horno y papines al romero.

Luis Cerone, concesionario del lugar, rememora loscomienzos del emprendimiento y dice: «Cuando inau-guramos este lugar, el turismo en Tandil no existía.Arrancamos con una casa de té, luego decidimos am-pliarla al doble de espacio, y así fuimos creciendo».Y sintetiza en una frase que para el tandilense loresume todo: «Al cerro lo tenés que trabajar todoslos días… y lo tenés que querer» .

Fine and elegant, this district situated in the southeast of Buenos Aires offers anendless number of proposals in the open air and under roof, for all ages.

Rainy day in Capital Federal. It is almost 8.30. Weset out towards Tandil, just 320 km away. The rain isdiminishing and the clouds seem to open. We get awhatsapp with a picture of a cloudless sky and itpredicts that we are going to have good weather inTandil.

The bus arrives in the city at around 12.30; themountain chain dominates the place and everythinggets majestic. The representatives of the Ente Mixto deTurismo welcome us; they will guide us during our stayhere.

Days of MuseumsA windy dawn made us change some plans. «The day

is perfect to visit museums. It is one of the non-traditional places that the district offers», they say tous and we accept the proposal. Tandil has activities foreveryone, for all ages and climates. After having lunch,we headed for the Museo sobre rieles, where amazingtrain miniatures can be appreciated, a completely tinyworld to be discovered. There, Jorge and Laura –husband and wife- nicely welcome us. They started withthis hobby in 1960.

«We had a private collection and we wanted to dosomething with that», Laura says. This is how theyarrived in Tandil from Buenos Aires in 2011 until theyfinally opened the place in the summer of 2012. «Wecame to Tandil as tourists and we decided to settledown here with the aim of reducing the stress of living ina big city», she added.

After that, we went to the Museo Vehículos de Época,which is formed by a group of old cars´ fans who enjoytheir elegance and history. You can find classic, collectionand antique cars, old bicycles, engines and motorbikes.Located on Chacabuco Street, just some meters awayfrom the City Hall of Tandil, you can find the Fine ArtMuseum, which treasures a patrimony of more than athousand works that are part of its heritage dividedinto Argentine Art of the XX Century, Contemporary Art,Sacred Art and the Room Mercedes Santamarina.Verónica, a tour guide of the place, told us that whenyou come into the latter room, «it inspires theappearance of sensations, it means to know a part ofthe past of this beautiful woman –a fine local collector-,her tastes and hobbies, her trips around the world andher social environment». made up by a variety of objects and paintings with agreat artistic value, and she herself donated them toMumbat in 1971.

Finally, we arrived at Museo Tradicionalista FuerteIndependencia, where we had the chance of talkingwith its president, Oscar Granato, who we visited the15 rooms with. The place has more than ten thousandpieces in exhibition about the origins of Tandil,iconographies, documents belonging to José de SanMartín, Domingo F. Sarmiento, Julio A. Roca, amongothers. You can also find garments and arms thatbelonged to the Mounted Granadiers and even theoutfits worn in Malvinas War. However, one of the mostsurprising collections is that of the coaches, «one of thegreatest jewels of the museum», according to Granato.The exhibition is formed by the first ambulance for themunicipal service in Tandil, European and Americancoaches used for different purposes such as riding orhunting.

The city overlookAfter such a hectic day, we stopped to contemplate

the city at night, from the overlook at IndependenciaPark . We silently marvel at the light of a city thatoutstands under a sky full of stars, in a panoramic viewthat surely will remain in our memories. The overlook issituated in an urban area, 286.50 meter high. We findthe outstanding Morisco Castle on top, donated by theSpanish Community. You can have lunch, tea or dinner infront of a breathtaking landscape.

In the open air!The next day, the sun was shining and the landscapes

from Tandil were awaiting us. A great part of thecharming in Tandil is based on the different activities itprovides, just some kilometers away one from the other.

The Lake outstands in the landscape surrounded byhills. It is a beautiful day and there are people walkingalong the coast, fishing and doing canoeing in acaptivating natural scenario.

In Villa del Lago you can appreciate the Momumentto Don Quixote and Sancho Panza, opened in April2008 thanks to the Spanish Community who lives in thecity. It is a compulsory visit for those anxious tourists whowant to take a photograph next to them.

Finally, we arrived at one of the greatest attractions:the Complex Cerro El Centinela, where everything isabsolutely thought for the tourist to enjoy every activityand service. The ride in chair lift is another attraction.We set the fear aside and we started the journey. Fromthe air, the landscape acquires a new meaning, it seemscloser somehow. The road full of pines offers both colorto the landscape and a nice sensation of protection.

Yet, the adventure has not finished there! We stillhave not visited the great attraction: the granitemonument El Centinela, a giant of almost 7 meter highthat lays on a considerably small base in relation to itsvolume. A photograph there is compulsory for thevisitors, who intend to capture this picture with a back-ground highland landscape.

The complex has a restaurant, a grocer´s, a baker´sand an aromatic herbs plantation. Its gastronomy, acombination of highland cookery and haute cuisine,outstands indeed. Its specialties are grilled cookery andwood stove that only use piquillin, a highland bushwhose fruit is sweet and delicious and transmits adistinctive flavor. The barbecue, the lamb fromPatagonia with rosemary, the pork grilled with sageand thyme, rabbit with pepper, vegetables casserolewith aromatic herbs stock and baby potatoes withthyme are remarkable.

Luis Cerone, local franchisee, remembers thebeginnings of the entrepreneurship and says: «Whenwe opened this place, Tourism in Tandil did not exist.We started with a Tea House, then, we decided towiden it and we grew that way». Moreover, he sums upwith a phrase that contains everything for the peoplefrom Tandil: «You have to work the hill every day… andyou have to love it» .

MSC Cruceros y Costa Cruceros son las empresas quecomercializan esta temporada los circuitos que partende Buenos Aires, en itinerarios que varían por 1 o 2puertos en algunos casos, dependiendo de las nochesde crucero que pueden ser 3, 7,8 ó 9, visitando Mon-tevideo, Río de Janeiro, Ilhabela y Buzios, y alternan-do, por ejemplo, con Ilha Grande, Porto Belo y Puntadel Este. También hay itinerarios de 13 noches querecorren el nordeste brasileño, y transatlánticos queparten de Buenos Aires a Europa.

En la actualidad, la opción del crucero es una de lasmás elegidas. En este sentido, Basilico explica: «es porla modalidad de viaje, el confort, podes visitar muchasciudades en un hotel flotante sin la necesidad de hacery deshacer valijas. Lo más importante es que te permi-te recorrer varias ciudades en un mismo transporte, adiferencia de cualquier paquete de viaje a Brasil, en

Si bien los cruceros son un «casi todo incluido», lasagencias ofrecen la contratación de paquetes debebidas para que el servicio a bordo sea completo,así como la posibilidad de adicionar las excursionesen cada ciudad del recorrido, en un pago financia-do y en pesos.

Aunque los cruceros por Sudamérica se suelen re-servar con un año de anticipación para aprovecharlas promociones que ofrecen las navieras, como el«2x1» o el «3° pasajero gratis» (lo que hace que latarifa quede muy económica), una salida para Na-vidad ronda hoy los ARS18.000 mientras que paraAño Nuevo asciende a casi 30.000 y para marzo2015 puede conseguirse por ARS15.550, siemprepor pasajero y en cabina con balcón.

En definitiva, el viaje incluye el alojamiento, 5 co-midas por día (desayuno, almuerzo, merienda, cenay buffet de medianoche), entretenimiento y activi-dades a bordo, propinas (en salidas desde Bs. As.)y el uso de todas las instalaciones. Los únicos gastosextra son el casino y los servicios de spa que noestán incluidos en las tarifas.

Vacaciones con espíritu navideño La Navidad se festeja en navegación, con una ce-

lebración que incluye fuegos artificiales, un menú es-pecial, juegos y actividades con temática navideña.

En Año Nuevo, la fiesta comienza a bordo. Ancla-dos en el puerto de Copacabana, el espectáculo esúnico: los fuegos artificiales iluminan el cielo y dancuenta del inicio del nuevo año. Desde el crucero, enmedio del mar, el show abarca 360° y hace que lamirada se apure para no perderse nada.

En algunos barcos existe la posibilidad de bajarpara continuar el festejo en la playa, desde las 22hs.hasta las 3 de la mañana. Más de un millón de per-sonas vestidas de blanco se concentran para des-pedir a la Nochevieja, llamada Reveillon, en una fies-ta en donde todo es alegría y en donde el mar y laarena crean la postal perfecta para la ocasión.

Así, descalzos en la arena o a bordo de un lujosocrucero, comienza un año por seguro inolvidable, conel augurio de tiempos de felicidad y unión familiar .

En Navidad y Año Nuevo, los barcos se decoran para la ocasión con el objetivode crear un escenario en el que los huéspedes puedan disfrutar de lostradicionales villancicos, actuaciones del coro y misa de Gallo, así como de unespectáculo único de luces brillantes y parpadeantes sobre las olas.

Por las sierras

DESAFÍO EN LA NATURALEZA

Ubicada en el municipio de Saavedra, a 545 kmde Capital Federal, la localidad se encuentra encla-vada en un valle rodeado por los majestuosos cordo-nes serranos de Cura Malal y Bravard.

En bici, en cuatriciclo, a pie, en vehículo, en parapenteo en moto, el circuito serrano espera a todo aquel queesté dispuesto a atravesar el Abra del Hinojo, conocerel Sitio Histórico Nacional Campos de Curamalal (Mo-nolito a la 1ra Conscripción) y visitar establecimientosrurales que abren sus tranqueras al turismo.

En bici se puede descubrir y atravesar los caminosinterserranos, paisaje geológico formado hace milesde años. La variedad de terrenos permite el desarro-llo de diferentes niveles de entrenamiento, ya sea paraprepararse para competir o simplemente para disfru-tar del paisaje sobre ruedas.

Además, se puede participar de los acontecimien-tos programados que se desarrollan año a año:Cicloturismo rural en Dufaur (en el mes de septiembre),Circuito de cicloturismo en Colonia San Martín de Tours(en octubre) y Vuelta al Cerro Curamalal (en noviem-bre).

Otra opción son las travesías en cuatriciclo y enmoto. En este sentido, hay que destacar que se abrióun sinuoso sendero con pronunciadas subidas, bajadasy vados de arroyos serranos en los caminosinterserranos desde el Monolito al Abra del Hinojo,para que transiten solamente cuatriciclos y motos, sien-do un lugar inaccesible para otro tipo de vehículos. Elcircuito, de dificultad media, va de un abra natural aotra y puede realizarse durante todo el año.

A pie, en dos o cuatro ruedas obien sobrevolando su paisaje, el

recorrido por las sierras dePigüé se justifica a cada paso.Por tierra o por aire, todas las

Una de las alternativas más elegidas para disfru-tar de Pigüé a pleno es el trekking. Diferentes esta-blecimientos rurales ofrecen la práctica atravesando ytransitando los dos cordones serranos más antiguos delSistema de Ventania: el de Curamalal y Bravard.

Para los que prefieren disfrutar de la calma rei-nante y un espacio natural privilegiado, el golf es unade las mejores elecciones. En el viejo basural de Pigüécobró vida hace 15 años un proyecto de diez golfistaslocales. Hoy es una cancha de 9 hoyos quebrada, atra-vesada por el arroyo PI- HUÉ con vista a las sierras.Está abierta para jugar todos los días, con torneosabiertos los días martes, sábados y feriados de todoel año, a tan sólo 5km de Pigüé, sobre la Ruta Nacio-nal N°33, en el kilómetro 128,5.

Por último, el parapente en el Aeroclub de Pigüé esideal para los que van en busca de adrenalina.Guillermo Besada, instructor de la Federación Argenti-na de Vuelo Libre -F.A.V.L.-, explica que «se trata de

vuelo a vela» y que «su tiempo de duración dependedel clima y de la habilidad del piloto». Y revela undato interesante: «Si vuelan 100 personas, 80 son mu-jeres, aunque no son ellas el mayor porcentaje que des-pués se convierte en piloto».

El parapente se practica en Pigüé desde hace yamás de una década. El relieve de la zona permite quese haga de las tres formas posibles que admite la acti-vidad: despegue de sierras en el cordón serrano deBravard (uno de los más antiguos del Sistema deVentania), despegue con remolque en el llano, yparamotor. Se dictan cursos de piloto para aquellosque quieran profesionalizarse en la práctica, y se brin-dan vuelos de bautismo para quienes se animen avolar por primera vez, acompañados por un instructor .

Located in the district of Saavedra, 545 kilometersaway from Capital Federal, it is placed in the heart ofa valley surrounded by the majestic highland chains ofCura Malal and Bravard.

By bike, by four tracks, by motorbike, by car, by hangglider or on foot, the highland circuit awaits everyonewho is willing to go through the Del Hinojo Cove, to knowthe National Historical Site Curamalal Fields (Monolith-First Conscription) and visit rural places that open theirgates to tourism.

Riding a bike, you can discover and go through theinternal highland ways, a geologic landscape formedthousands of years ago. The variety of lands allow thedevelopment of different levels of training, whether it isto get ready to compete or simply to enjoy thelandscape on wheels.

Besides, people can participate in the scheduledevents that take place year after year: Rural biketourism in Dafaur (in September), bike tourism circuit inColonia San Martín de Tours (in October) andCuramalal Hill Ride (in November).

Another option is the journey by motorbike and fourtracks. A sinuous track was opened with steep slopesand highland streams in the internal highland ways fromthe Monolith to the Del Hinojo Cove, only for motorbikesand four tracks; it is inaccessible for other kind ofvehicles. The circuit, with a medium difficulty, goes froma natural cove, to another one and can be performedall year long.

One of the favorite alternatives to fully enjoy Piguéis trekking. Different rural places offer trekking bygoing through the two oldest highland chains of theVentania System: Curamalal and Bravard.

For those who prefer to enjoy the calmness and aprivileged natural space, golf is one of the best options.Fifteen years ago, a project was created by ten localgolfers in the old garbage dump of Pigué. Today, it is a9- hole course, where the stream PI-HUÉ goes through itoverlooking the hills. It is open every day and there are

open tournaments on Tuesdays, Saturdays and onholidays, all year round, just 5 kilometers from Pigué, onNational Route N° 33, on the kilometer 128.5.

Finally, hang gliding at the Airclub of Pigué is idealfor those who look for adrenalin. Guillermo Besada,Instructor of the Federación Argentina de Vuelo Libre,explains that «it is about a hang glider flight» and that«its duration depends on the weather and the pilot´sability». He also reveals an interesting fact: «If 100people fly, 80 are women, although they are not theones who later become pilots».

Hang gliding has been practised in Pigué for morethan a decade. The geography of the area allows it tobe performed in the three possible ways admitted bythe activity: take-off from the hills in the highland chainof Bravard (one of the oldest of Ventania System),take-off with a ground-based tow and aerotowing.People who are interested in the practice can takecourses, and there are also baptism flights for thosewho dare to fly for the first time, accompanied by aninstructor.

Qué ganas de viajar, de moverme,de salir… Hoy mi tour empieza y ter-mina en casa, con dos niñas pequeñasa quienes atender, mimar, alimentar,cobijar y amar. El viaje más maravillo-so y agotador que he emprendido entoda mi vida, más exigente que el tu-rismo aventura, más espiritual que elturismo religioso y más enriquecedorque todos los viajes por el mundo quehice o que hubiese podido hacer.

Dicen que viajando se fortalece elcorazón… Cierro los ojos y aún en micaótica realidad puedo sumirme en elrecuerdo y escaparme, aunque más no

sea por un breve momento de ininte-rrumpida paz, a algún lugar de esteplaneta en el que he estado y en elque la he pasado estupendamente bien.

Hoy viajo a Nueva York, mi espaciode cuentos, mi ciudad iluminada y fríaen un invierno crudo y mágico, con pis-tas de patinaje de película y rascacie-los que llegan hasta donde la sonrisano quiere desdibujarse.

Por sus calles heladas en nuestro ve-rano, se va formando el circuito, un pocoya previsto y otro poco hecho al an-dar. Como en todo viaje, el factor sor-presa se acomoda perfectamente en-

tre los planes, porque bien vale dejar-se maravillar por esas pequeñas cosasque no aparecen en ningún mapa y quelejos están de ser el punto turístico porexcelencia. Un pasaje, una calle pinto-resca, un rascacielos igual a tantos peroque nos deslumbra como ningún otro,un puente que no es el de Brooklyn, unsubte que alberga infinitas culturas,una noche de bares ocultos, una tiendade ropa que milagrosamente pareceaccesible.

dad y en donde se encuentra La Bolsa de New York(New York Stock Exchange), el edificio en donde sedecide, nada más y nada menos, el futuro de la econo-mía mundial. Con la parsimonia que sólo alguien queestá de vacaciones tiene, es imposible no sentirse unestorbo para aquellos que van y vienen con el pasoapurado, de traje y hablando por celular, comprandoy vendiendo acciones o tal vez cerrando algún acuer-do millonario.

Después de Wall Street, el segundo mayor centroeconómico de Manhattan es el Rockefeller Center, uncomplejo de edificios comerciales en donde se encuen-tran algunas de las boutiques más lujosas, empresas yteatros de gran reputación, como la NBC, el Radio CityMusic Hall y la casa de subastas Christie´s. Un indiscu-tible atractivo turístico es su plaza, que se usa comopista de patinaje en invierno y como restaurante alaire libre en verano. Detrás de ella, el lujoso edificiode General Electric domina el conjunto con su decora-ción Art Decó.

Naturaleza, algo de shopping y lugares de películaPara el mediodía, antes del almuerzo, un paseo por

el Central Park. Inmenso y laberíntico, esconde en suinterior una pista de patinaje sobre hielo ceñida entrelos árboles y enmarcada por la postal de esa ciudadde construcciones infinitas. Patinar allí es meterse en lapelícula, ser estrella y protagonista.

Y cuando de compras se trata, sólo en Nueva Yorkes posible entrar a una tienda de zapatos y que a unolo reciban con una copa de champagne. Zapatos deuna marca más, ni siquiera de los que se conocen ex-clusivos… (¿qué harán en estos?)

Hay tiendas de todo tipo y, en las que nuestra bille-tera no puede ni detenerse a pensar, es común toparse

con alguna «Mujer Bonita» seleccionando vestidos jun-to a su asesora, mientras su marido la mira y asiente oreprueba desde un mullido sillón ubicado a la salidadel probador.

Claro que también hay para los que llevan un dólarcomplicado. Las grandes cadenas multimarcas, comoH&M, se adaptan a todos los presupuestos, así comolas pequeñas tiendas en el Soho que venden bueno,barato y variado.

Cruzar a Staten Island en ferry es una tarea osadapero ineludible. Parece imposible soportar la heladatan cerca del agua, y cuando uno cree que ya no po-drá levantar de entre los hombros la cabeza acobar-dada, se alza ante nuestra vista la mítica estatua dela Libertad, todo un símbolo de la cultura estadouni-dense, que parece burlarse del frío al resguardo delcalor de su antorcha y cubierta tan sólo por una túnica.

De vuelta en Manhattan, la vista desde el EmpireState en el observatorio del piso 86 es uno de losclásicos imperdibles cuando cae el sol. Allí donde estu-vieron Tom Hanks y Meg Ryan en «Sintonía de Amor»,para los enamorados la consigna es besarse en lo alto,con el viento helado en la cara y las luces de la ciudadiluminando una inmejorable escenografía.

Después de mucho andar, el puente de Brooklyn invi-ta a cruzar y descubrir del otro lado uno de los distri-tos más emblemáticos de Nueva York. Son 1.825 me-tros de extensión que dejaremos para recorrer al díasiguiente. Cae ya la noche y la temperatura amilanalos cuerpos cansados.

Barrio chino y sushi para llevar. Hora de regresar alhotel y cenar en una habitación calentita, junto a laventana y contemplando la vista de un puente ilumina-do del que nunca supe el nombre, pero que quedó enmi memoria como uno de esos tantos pequeños gran-des recuerdos .

A trip in the memory

A journey with the eyes closed to evoke the feelings that were hidden in the cornersof a luminous city. A permission to enjoy its attractions again and to travelthrough time, in memory of a city where it is forbidden to forget.

Forbidden to forgetJust next to Wall Street is the World Trade Center, the areawhere the Twin Towers were located.After the attack in 2011, the place became a memorial to the 11-Svictims. In the building of the new World Trade Center complex, theOne World Trade Center skyscraper –whose grand opening isexpected for the beginning of 2015- rises as the seventh higheststructure in the world, with 541 meters.

I really feel like traveling, moving, going out… Today, mytour starts and ends at home, with two little girls who I takecare of, pamper, feed, wrap up and love. The mostwonderful, rewarding and tiresome trip that I have everhad or could have done, more demanding than adventuretourism, more spiritual than religious tourism.

It is said that «traveling makes the heart stronger»…. Iclose my eyes and even in my chaotic reality

I can sink into the memory and escape, at least for just abrief moment of endless peace, to some place on this Planetwhere I have been and where I have had such a great time.

I´m traveling to New York today, my place for shortstories, my illuminated and cold city in a magical and severefall, with fabulous skating rinks and skyscrapers reachingsmiles that don´t want to get blurred.

The circuit is getting some shape around its frozen streets,a little bit foreseen and a little bit improvised. Like in anytrip, surprise perfectly fits among the plans since it is wellworth marveling at those small things that do not appear inany map and that are far from being in the tourist center. Alandscape, a picturesque street, a dazzling skyscraper thatimpresses us like no other, a bridge that is not the one inBrooklyn, a subway that covers endless cultures, a night indark bars, a clothes store that miraculously seemsaccessible.

Tourism in the center of businessIt is key to get up early when there

is a lot to know. However, in winter inNew York, so early in the morning,you must wrap up very well. The coldweather freezes the knees and thechin and it is very difficult to speak.Nevertheless, it is worth. It is time towalk around its streets already busy,to sit down and have breakfast in asmall bar and admire the hecticpedestrian. The thing is that NewYork is the center of big business.

One of the main economic arteriesin the world is located in a small andnarrow road in the south ofManhattan: Wall Street. It is the mostimportant financial district in the citywhere the New York Stock Exchangeis located, the building where thefuture of the world economy isdecided. With the lack of haste thatonly a person who is on vacation has,it is impossible not to feel a nuisanceamong those who are in a hurry, insuits and talking on their cell phones,maybe buying or selling shares orconcluding some million- dollaragreement.

After Wall Street, the secondgreater economic center inManhattan is the Rockefeller Center,a complex of commercial buildingswhere you can find some of the mostluxurious boutiques, firms and famoustheatres such as NBC, Radio CityMusic Hall and Christie´s Auction. Anundeniable tourist attraction is itssquare, which is used as a skatingrink in winter and as a restaurant inthe open air in summer. Behind this

square, the luxurious General Electricbuilding stands out with its Art Decóstyle

Nature, shopping and awesomeplaces

At midday, before lunch, a journeyaround Central Park. It is enormousand labyrinthine; its interior hides askating rink on ice surrounded bytrees and framed by the postcard ofthat city of endless buildings. Skatingthere means being the star of themovie.

When it comes to shopping, only inNew York you are welcome with acup of champagne the moment youenter a common shoe store. (Whatshall they do in the exclusive ones?)

There are all kind of shops and, inthose in which our wallet cannot evenstop to think, it is common to comeacross a «Pretty Woman» choosingdresses together with her assistant,while her husband looks at her andnods or shakes his head from a softarmchair placed by the changingroom.

Of course, there also are stores forthose whose budgets are tight. Thebig multi brand chains, such as H&M,are adapted to all kind of budgetsas well as the small stores in the Sohowhere they sell good, cheap andvaried stuff.

Crossing Staten Island by ferry is achallenging but essential task. It

seems impossible to tolerate thefrost so close to the water. When onethinks that he won´t be able to movethe head, the mythical statue ofLiberty -a symbol of the NorthAmerican culture- appears beforeus. It seems to be making fun of thecold by protecting itself under theheat of its torch and it is just coveredby a tunic.

Again in Manhattan, the view fromthe Empire State observatory on the86th floor is one of the classic mustsat dusk. There, where Tom Hanks andMeg Ryan were at «Sleepless inSeattle» («Sintonía de Amor», in theSpanish version), lovers kiss eachother at the top, with the frozen windin their faces and the city lightsilluminating a superb staging.

After such a long ride, theBrooklyn Bridge invites us to crossand discover one of the mostcharacteristic district in New York onthe other side. It is 1,825 meter widethat we will let aside for the nextday. It is dark already and thetemperature frightens the exhaustedbodies off.

Chinatown and sushi to take away.It is time to go back to the hotel andhave dinner in a cozy room next tothe window and contemplating theview of an illuminated bridge whosename I never knew, yet it remaines inmy memory as one of those little bigmemories .

Aunque sus primeros pasos fueron en puntasde pie, Mora Godoy se autodefine como una«tanguera». Apasionada por la danza porte-ña, triunfó con su propia compañía de tango yprodujo «Chantecler Tango», una original come-dia musical. Tras el reestreno en Buenos Aires, labailarina se irá de gira a fin de año para co-menzar el 2015 en China. Entre los ensayos para«Showmatch», la artista habló con Cambio deAire sobre sus sueños, sus logros y sus conviccio-nes.

- ¿Cómo fueron los comienzos de tu carrera?- Soy egresada del Teatro Colón, por lo que

me inicié en el ballet de muy chiquita. Hace vein-te años comencé a estudiar tango, entré en unacompañía que había en ese momento, estuve cincoaños y empecé a pensar e imaginar cómo ar-mar mi propia escuela y mi propia compañía debaile.

El proceso hasta llegar al presente que ten-go fue un trabajo de hormiga, con mucho es-fuerzo y mucho trabajo, año a año, mes ames iba teniendo pequeños logros. Cuan-do estaba en «Tango por dos», miprimera compañía, veía los espec-táculos del exterior y me pre-guntaba porqué a nadie sele había ocurrido hacerun musical de tango.Ahí empecé a escri-bir «Tanguera»,después vino

«Chantecler Tango» y ya no paré, una vez que entré en el tango no me fuimás.

Es importante remarcar que cuando incursioné en el tango no había lamovida que hay ahora, no había milongas ni academias y era difícil estu-diarlo. Cuando creé la escuela, que fue la primera de tango integral,bailábamos todo el día. Con los años se va viendo la cantidad de jóvenesque se suman, ese es el gran cambio y algo fuerte a nivel baile.

- ¿Cómo definirías a «Chantecler Tango», comparándolo con tu primerespectáculo, «Tanguera»?

- Para mí «Tanguera» fue y es un espectáculo maravilloso, porque fue elprimero, con una historia muy fuerte, muy intensa, con un éxito impresionan-te, y fue un gran despegue a nivel personal, porque fue la primera vezque me mostré como creadora, como bailarina, como coreógrafa. Pero«Chantecler» tiene una vuelta más teatral, porque aunque tiene muchísimadanza y es fortísimo el baile, es más teatral porque son tres historiasparalelas que se unen al final, es una evolución en la historia.

Por eso, siempre digo que es como un escalón más en mi carrera, porqueal tener ese tinte teatral te atrapa mucho más, te emociona y es máspotente.

- ¿Por qué te autodefinís como «tanguera»?- Soy tanguera porque el tango es argentino, yo soy argentina, tanguera

y de Boca (risas). Yo me siento tanguera porque me gusta ir a San Telmo,a La Boca, ir a bares, caminar por Buenos Aires. También me gusta ir a lasmilongas, bailar unos tanguitos, recorrer mi ciudad, escuchar tangos, laradio 2x4 y a los cantantes de antes. Por todo eso, me siento tanguera.

- ¿Qué proyectos te esperan para el 2015?- Cierro el 2014 en China, con el mismo tour del año pasado. Arranco

también ahí el 2015 y después nos vamos con «Chantecler Tango» a Ja-pón. El año que viene tengo ocho semanas en Rusia y otros países más quese están confirmando.

- ¿Cuál es el mayor logro de tu carrera y qué objetivo te falta alcanzar?- Uno de mis mayores logros fue «Chantecler Tango» porque me sume

otro ítem más, porque pude producir en mi país, aunque nadie creía en eltango, ya que acá no vende como en el mundo. Entonces, no conseguíasponsors y me jugué los ahorros de toda mi vida. Esa es mi gran satisfac-ción, haberme jugado todo lo que tenía en algo que yo creía que iba afuncionar, y lo logré. Es creer en mí y en lo nuestro, el tango. Estoy muy felizcon los resultados. Me gustaría llegar a Broadway. Ojalá se cumpla .

Un tango por un sueño La bailarina logró una mayor popularidad gracias a su participación en el certamen «Bailando por un sueño»,conducido por Marcelo Tinelli y emitido por canal 13. «Es una experiencia totalmente diferente en mi vida,nunca había hecho televisión y menos, televisión continuada. Siempre iba a los programas a promocionar misespectáculos y nada más», explica.Sobre cómo vive la masividad que brinda la televisión, Mora asegura: «Siento que llegué muy lejos con eltango, a Siberia, a China, a lugares que jamás hubiese pensado, pero la popularidad que te da la televisión enel país es increíble, porque hay mucha gente que no me había visto bailar hasta entonces. De todos modos,tengo claro que no fue el «Bailando…» lo que me puso en el escenario de un teatro».«No me siento en una gran exposición pero la popularidad me gusta. Ver a la gente que me para por la calley se enoja cuando el jurado me puntúa de determinada manera no sólo me da alegría, sino que me divierte»,agrega entre risas.

-What was the beginning of yourcareer like?

- I got graduated from TeatroColón, therefore, I began a careerin ballet since an early age. Istarted studying tango twentyyears ago; I was in a company forfive years and I began thinkingand fantasizing about how toform my own school and my owndancing company.

The process up to this presenttime was hard work, however, Ibegan celebrating considerableachievements month after month,year after year. When I wasworking in my first company,«Tango por dos», I saw the showsfrom abroad and I wondered whynobody had thought of making atango musical. This is when Istarted writing «Tanguera», after

- How would you define«Chantecler Tango», comparing itto your first show «Tanguera»?

- In my opinion, «Tanguera» wasand is a wonderful show becauseit was the first one with a veryintense history, an impressivesuccess and it was a great perso-nal start since I showed myself asa creator, dancer andchoreographer at the same time.Yet, «Chantecler» has a moretheatrical mark, because on theone hand it has much and strongdance and on the other hand ithas three parallel stories thatmatch in the end, it is an evolutionin history.

That´s why I always say that it isa higher step in my careerbecause as it has that theatricaltouch, you get involved much more,you get moved and it is morepowerful.

- Why do you self-define as a«tango dancer»?

-I am a tango dancer becauseTango is Argentine, and I amArgentine, a Tango dancer and aBoca Fan (laughters).

I feel myself a tango dancerbecause I love going to San Telmo,la Boca, and bars, walking around

Buenos Aires. I also love going tomilongas, dancing tango, travelingaround my city, listening to tango,the 2x4 radio and to old singers.This is the reason why I feel atango dancer.

- Which projects await in 2015?-I finish in China in 2014, with
