    Once upon a time, a king and a queen had a baby daughter, and when

    she saw her black hair, snowy white skin and red red lips she decided to

    call her Snow White Snow White grew up to be a pretty child, but sadly,

    a!ter a !ew years, her mother died and her !ather married again "he

    new queen, Snow White#s stepmother, was a beauti!ul woman too, but

    she was very vain $ore than anything else she wanted to be certain

    that she was the most beauti!ul woman in the world

    She had a magic mirror, and she used to look at hersel! in it each clayand say%

    &$irror, mirror on the wall, Who is the !airest one o! all'

    (nd the mirror would always reply,

    &)ou, oh *ueen, are the !airest one o! all

     "he queen would smile when she heard this !or she knew the mirror

    never !ailed to speak the truth "he years passed +ach year Snow White

    grew prettier and prettier, until one day, her stepmother looked in the

    magic mirror and said,

    &$irror, mirror on the wall, Who is the !airest one o! all'

    &)ou, oh *ueen, are !air, but Snow White is !airer than you now

     "he queen was angry and ealous -n a terrible rage she decided that

    Snow White should be killed She called !or a hunter and told him to take

    Snow White !ar into the !orest and to kill her there -n order to prove that

    Snow White was indeed dead, she commanded him to cut out Snow

    White.s heart and bring it back to her

     "he hunter was very sad, because he loved Snow White very much, but

    he knew he must obey his orders /e took her deep into the !orest and,as he drew his kni!e, but he couldn#t kill her /e told her never to come

    back to the castle, then he killed a young deer and cut out its heart and

    took this to the queen, pretending it was Snow White#s heart

    0oor Snow White was tired, lonely and hungry in the !orest She

    wandered through the trees, until she came to a clearing and !ound a

    little house She opened it and went inside "here she saw a room with a

    long table laid with seven places with !ood, and she ate a little !rom each

    one Beyond the table were seven little beds She tried out some o!

    them, and when she !ound one that was com!ortable, she !ell into a deep

    sleep, !or she was e1hausted by her long ourney through the !orest

     "he cottage was the home o! seven dwar!s (ll day long they worked in a

    nearby mine digging diamonds !rom deep inside the mountain When

    they returned home that evening, they were ama2ed to see that

    someone had been into their cottage and had taken some !ood and drink

    !rom each place at their table "hey were also surprised to 3nd their

    beds disturbed, until one dwar! called out that he had !ound a lovely girl

    asleep on his bed

     "he ne1t morning Snow White awoke and met the dwar!s, and she told

    them her story When she e1plained how she now had no home, the

    dwar!s immediately asked her whether she would like to stay with them

    Back at the palace the queen welcomed the hunter when he returned

    with the deer.s heart She was happy that now she was once more the

    most beauti!ul woman in the world (s soon as she was alone, she

    looked n her magic mirror and said, con3dently,

     "o her horror, the mirror replied,

    &)ou, oh *ueen, are !air, .tis true, But Snow White is !airer still than you

     "he queen trembled with anger as she reali2ed that the hunter had

    tricked her She decided that she would now 3nd Snow White and kill her

    hersel! "he queen disguised hersel! as an old pedlar woman with a

    basket o! apples, and one o! them was poisoned When she knocked at

    the cottage door, the queen o4ered Snow White an apple as a present

    Snow White stretched out her hand !or the apple and also took a bite (t

    once Snow White was a4ected by the poison and !ell down as though

    dead

     "hat evening when the dwar!s returned they were quite unable to revive

    her "hey watched over her through the night, but when morning came

    she still lay without any sign o! li!e, and they decided she must be dead

    Weeping bitterly, they laid herein a co5n and placed a glass lid over the

    top so that all could admire her beauty, even though she was dead "hen

    they carried the co5n to the top o! a hill where they took turns to stand

    guard

    6ot long a!ter this a prince came riding through the !orest and came to

    the hill where Snow White lay in her glass&topped co5n She looked so

    beauti!ul that he loved her at once and he asked the dwar!s i! he could

    kiss her (s the prince kissed Snow White gently, he moved her head

     "he piece o! poisoned apple !ell !rom her lips Slowly she came back to

    li!e Snow White saw the handsome prince kneeling on the ground

    beside her, and !ell in love with him straight away

     "hen the queen !ar away in the palace heard !rom the mirror,

    &)ou, oh Oueen, are !air, tis true, But Snow White is !airer still than you

    She was !urious that Snow White had escaped death once more (nd

    now the king discovered what mischie! she had been up to, and

    banished her !rom his land 6o one ever saw her or her mirror again (s

    !or Snow White, she said !arewell to her kind !riends the dwar!s, and

    rode away on the back o! the prince#s horse (t his castle they were

    married and they both lived happily !orever a!terwards

    Once upon a time down on an old !arm, lived a duck !amily, and $other

    8uck had been sitting on a clutch o! new eggs One nice morning, the

    eggs hatched and out popped si1 chirpy ducklings

    But one egg was bigger than the rest, and it didn´t hatch. Before she had time to think about

    it, the last egg hatched.

    ( strange looking duckling with gray !eathers that should have been

    yellow ga2ed at a worried mother "he ducklings grew quickly, but

    $other 8uck had a secret worry

    said to hersel! 

    Well, the gray duckling certainly wasn.t pretty (s the days went by, the

    poor ugly duckling became more and more unhappy because his

    brothers didn.t want to play with him

    him&96obody loves me, they all tease me: Why am - di4erent !rom my

     "here was once a miller who, when he died, had nothing to leave to his

    three sons but a mill, a donkey, and a cat

    The mill he left to his eldest son, the donkey to the second, and to the youngest he left the

    cat.

    was brought be!ore the throne and there, with a low bow, 0uss said,

    &9Sire, pray accept this rabbit as a gi!t !rom my lord the $arquis o!

    Carrabas, who commanded me to present it to )our $aesty with the

    assurance o! his respect9

    &9"ell your master,9 said the king, 9that - accept his gi!t and am much

    obliged9

    ( !ew days later, 0uss again went to the 3eld (gain she lay down as i!

    dead with her sack open beside her "his time she captured two 3nepartridges (gain the cat went to the king and presented the partridges

    as she had done the rabbit "hey, too, were accepted, and the king was

    so pleased that he ordered the cat to be taken to the kitchen and !ed

    the king, made a low bow, and said,

    6ow the truth was that the cunning cat had hidden the clothes under alarge stone

    &9"hat is most un!ortunate,9 said the king, and he gave orders to a

    servant to !etch a suit !rom the castle

    When the miller.s son was dressed in the 3ne clothes he looked like a

    gentleman, and very handsome "he princess was taken with his

    appearance, and the $arquis o! Carrabas had no sooner cast upon her

    two or three respect!ul glances than she !ell in love with him "he king

    insisted that he get into the carriage and take a ride with them "he catran on ahead o! the carriage and, reaching a meadow where mowers

    were cutting the grass, he said to them,

    &97nless you tell the king when he asks you that these meadows belong

    to the $arquis o! Carrabas, you shall be chopped as 3ne as mincemeat9

    When the king drove by and asked the mowers who owned the meadows

    they answered, trembling,

     "he king then turned to the miller.s son and said, 9

    $eantime, 0uss had run on !arther and reached a corn3eld in which

    there were reapers busy at work

    whom these 3elds belong, you must say that they are the property o!

    So when the king drove by and asked whose 3elds these were, the

    !rightened reapers answered,

    as he looked at the miller.s son&9- do believe he would be a good

    6ow the 3elds really belonged to an ogre who lived in a castle a little

    By this time the king had arrived at the castle 0uss, hearing the carriage

    wheels, ran to the gate and cried,
