FFue un histórico y grande a la vez. Guillermo Stábile tiene dos joyas en su carrera.
Como jugador, haber sido goleador de un Mundial (en 1930). Como técnico, ganar
nada menos que seis veces la Copa América, un récord prácticamente imbatible. Tres
de esos títulos fueron consecutivos (1945, 1946, 1947). Stábile gozaba de una gran
estabilidad en su puesto: dirigió a Argentina desde 1939 hasta 1958.

history, a born winner. Guillermo
Stábile can boast of two jewels in his
crown. As a player, he has the merit of
having been a World Cup’s striker
(1930). As coach, he attained the
Copa América six times, in an
unparalleled record. Three of those
titles were won in a row (1945, 1946,
1947). Stábile enjoyed a great stability
in his post, he coached Argentina
from 1939 to 1958.

mano, la Selección de Perú se coronó campeón en
1975. La última vez que el conjunto incaico había
logrado el título fue en 1939, a través del inglés Jack
Greenwell, único caso de un técnico europeo campeón
en la historia de la Copa América.

Peruvian National Team to attain the
Championship in 1975. The last time the
Inca squad won the title was in 1939,
under a foreigner’s coaching, namely
Jack Greenwell, in what was the only
case in the Cup’s history.

AAlvim, Brazil’s midfielder in the conquest of the 1949
Copa América, had the honour of conducting Bolivia
to the famous 1963 Championship. Together with
Englishman Jack Greenwell (Peru 1939), they are the only
foreign champion coaches.
LLlevó a Uruguay a lo alto de la cima con dos
resonantes títulos. El primero de ellos en 1959, en
el Extraordinario de Guayaquil, y el segundo, en su
tierra luego de ocho años, al doblegar a la Argentina
en áspera final.
HHe led Uruguay to the peak of
glory with two striking titles.
The first of them in 1959, in
Guayaquil’s Extraordinary
Championship, and the
second, in his own land, after
an 8-year lapse, by defeating
Argentina in the final.
NNotable jugador y destacado entrenador, logró consagrar
campeón a Paraguay en 1953, venciendo en el partido
desempate al favorito Brasil. También fue técnico de Libertad
en Paraguay, de Newell’s Old Boys en Argentina,
de Flamengo en Brasil y de Real Madrid en
España, entre muchos otros.

off. He was also the coach of
