Prayerful remembrance of the faithful departed has been an integral aspect of the Judeo-Christian faith since the second century BCE. We Christians have always remembered the names of the dead; their names are heard in prayers of intercession during the liturgy and es-pecially in the chanting of the litany of the saints at the Easter Vigil, the celebration of the resur-rection. Especially in the month of November we remember our sisters and brothers who have left this world in God's friendship. In our Masses during the month of November, we will re-member all the deceased members and loved ones of the Our Lady of LaSalette faith commu-nity. We welcome you to submit names for our prayerful remembrance by using the Memorial Envelopes provided in the pews. Your memorial offering will be used to supply our faith commu-nity with reflection materials for the Advent-Christmas season.

Recordar en oración a los fieles difuntos ha sido un aspecto integral de la fe judeo-cristiana desde el siglo II. Nosotros los cristianos siempre hemos recordado los nombres de los difuntos, sus nombres se escuchan en las oraciones de intercesión en la liturgia y especialmente en el canto de la Letanía de los Santos en la Vigilia Pascual, la celebración de la resurrección. Espe-cialmente en el mes de noviembre recordamos a nuestras hermanas y hermanos que han deja-do este mundo en amistad con Dios. En las misas durante el mes de noviembre, recordare-mos todos los miembros fallecidos y seres queridos de la comunidad de fe de Nuestra Señora de LaSalette. Question for Children: Jesus showed that he loved Zacchaeus by having supper with him. How does Jesus show his love for you? Question for Youth: Jesus saw Zaccheaus as he was – mistakes and all. What masks, if any, do you hide behind so others won't see who you really are? Who do you trust to see your true self? Question for Adults: Why do you suppose Jesus was so kind to Zacchaeus? What lesson do you draw from this reading regarding those who are considered "public sinners" today?

Activities for the week Choose one of the following activities as a way to further reflect on the Sunday readings: ∗ Sit down as a household and talk about those people whom

you consider least welcome in your house. Are they people against whom you have a prejudice? Neighbors whom you don't like? Family members against whom you hold a grudge? Of others? Choose one name from this list and plan how to reconcile.

∗ Invite family members to make special "welcome" placements for a simple supper you make. Invite people whom you know but haven't seen in a while to come to supper and share with them.

∗ Read the newspaper together to see who in your community is rejected and hated, including prisoners, immigrants, and others. Become more aware of these people and if possible, help them feel welcome.

You are making a difference in the lives of those in need Your generous donations of food over the past weeks have enabled us to distribute over 150 bags of food to families in need. With your continued support we will be able to continue to feed the hungry in our community. Food items generally needed are dried or canned beans, rice, pasta, powdered milk, canned fruits and vegetables, canned meats, and peanut butter. All financial donations should be made to the church and clearly marked for “Soup Ministry.”

Los artículos de alimentos generalmente necesitados son: frijoles enlatados o secos, arroz, pastas, leche en pol-vo, frutas y vegetables enlatados, carnes enlatadas y crema de ca-cahuate.
