The highly innovative SR710reflectance gauge is a uniquesensor specifically designed toallow accurate, on-linemeasurement of thin coatings onmetal foils or metallised papers andplastics. Its clever opticalconfiguration minimises opticalinterference effects and its use ofintense mid infrared absorptionsallows the thinnest of coatings,such as lube layers on can stock, tobe easily and accurately measured.

New technology introduced in the SR710ensures users achieve the highest accuracyand measurement speed, critical formeaningful control of a high speed productweb. Selective infrared technology meanssubtractive measurement is normallyunnecessary, offering a cost-effectivemeasurement solution eg. lube on lacquer.
The SR710 high speed measurement(ca. 7.5msecs), up to 10 times faster thanconventional NIR gauges, reducesmeasurement noise, improves accuracy andallows far greater cross direction (CD) andmachine direction (MD) resolution of theproduct coat weight. Reduced noise allowsoperation closer to the process target for amore rapid return on investment.
The SR710 uses our proven Dual DetectorReferencing technology, for unrivalled longterm stability, essential when used as aninput for process control. Gauge stabilityalso removes the need for costly “re-calibration”.
The SR710 features Virtual Full Spectrum(VFS) technology allowing moresophisticated calibration models to be usedfor improved robustness. New algorithmsused in the SR710 mean it is less affected
by substrate variations, which benefits usersby minimising ongoing calibration activity.
Multi wavelength operation allows selectivemeasurement of the key coating or barrierlayer without need for differentialmeasurement, keeping the installationsimple and cost effective.
Up to 4 measurements may be made in onegauge which can reduce cost and hardwarerequirements for multiple measurementapplications eg. multi layer extrusion coating.
SR710 gauges have SpeedCal pre-calibrations, which reducecommissioning and installation time. Theunique NDC Infrared Engineering filtertechnology also ensures that the SR710 isnot affected by ambient lighting, humidityor temperature.
