• For 42 years, we conducted an annual association convention
• Our annual convention was losing viability:– 350,000 – 400,000 association members– Average attendance dropping to < 5,000– Cost to execute a convention was > $2.5 Million– Decreasing member satisfaction and net promoter scores– In last 18 years, we reached only 37,000 unique attendees (< 10% of
membership)– Membership transactions averaged 11.75 per day
• Members were complaining about our culture:– Too corporate & glossy; “not for the common person”– Not about the “fun” in aviation
