 Air dipecah sebagai sumber elektron di sistem cahaya II

Elektron yang tereksitasi mentransfer energinya kerangkaian pembawa elektron dengan tingkat energiyang lebih rendah untuk memompa proton (H+) daristroma ke ruang dalam tilakoid (matriks)

Terjadi perbedaan konsentrasi ion H+ antar duapermukaan membran (matriks dan stroma)

Beda potensial ini digunakan ion H+ kembali ke stromamelewati enzim ATP sintase untuk membentuk ATPdari ADP

Elektron akhirnya diterima oleh penerima elektronterakhir yaitu NADP+ sehingga berubah menjadi NADPH
