Las Golondrinas
Julie Chase-Daniel
All the swallows of Grenadatake wing at dusk,a dark whorl against the sky, fleeting fingerprintpressed into memory.
Borne by a hot wind or by fate, blind forge of all experience,
our bodies too roseall at once weightless, free of known bearings, trusting the drafts of instinct. Our sensations broadcastingseeds of light in every direction,
we rooted, gleaming and tender in the dark.
