Notas de la Directora
Cuando tuve la oportunidad de leer la obra, Las mujeres verdaderas tienen cur-
vas, yo estaba dirigiendo por primera vez para Teatro Tercera llamada. La obra
que dirigía era Monsters in the Closet/Ogres Under the Bed. Esto fue en el 2014.
En aquel tiempo, “Mujeres verdaderas…” solo se mencionó como una posibilidad
pero se pospuso la idea porque yo no estaba preparada para dirigir una obra con
cinco actores. Además no sabíamos que tipo de talento podíamos conseguir en la
comunidad hispanoparlante de Louisville. Sabíamos que el elenco para esta obra
necesitaba verse de cierta forma para que el título hiciera realidad su mensaje,
mas no podíamos encontrar el elenco adecuado. Mas tarde, Carlos-Manuel, uno de
los fundadores de la compañía y miembros de la mesa directiva nos dejó saber que
una producción en español de la obra se estaba llevando acabo en Atlanta, Geor-
gia. Esto fué en el otoño del 2015 así que, naturalmente, Haydee y yo fuimos a
ver la obra. Después de verla nos convencimos que, debido a los tantos temas que
se presentan en la obra, era necesario producir “Las mujeres vedaderas…”.
La obra discute temas que la compañía busca presenter constantemente en sus
producciones: imigración, educación, el abuso, y muchos otros. “Las mujeres
verdaderas…” habla de le infertilidad, de las expectativas que se esperan de las
mujeres, de como se deberían verse, como deberían hablar, de como ser “buenas”
esposas: ser calladas, sumisas, ser mamás, amas de casa, y mucho más. En otras
palabras: expectativas machistas.
Originalmente, planeamos la producción para el otoño 2015, pero después que tu-
vimos la oportunidad de presentar una de nuestras obras en el Teatro MeX del
Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts, así que decidimos que Las mujeres
verdaderas tienen curvas era el proyecto perfecto para darle saber a la comuni-
dad teatral de Louisville y sus audiencias lo que Teatro Tercera Llamada puede
hacer como compañía. Con el ambiente politico del 2016, Haydee y yo nos vimos
entusiasmadas en cuanto a nuestra producción. Esperábamos que, nosotros como mu-
jeres, al elegir a Hillary Clinton como la primera señora presidente, le de-
mostraríamos al mundo que valemos más de lo que la gente piensa.
Durante su campaña, notamos que Hillary Clinton fue tratada como a muchas otras
mujeres que son francas, asertivas, y fuertes, son tratadas: como una desvariada
o fiera. “Era demasiado dura en unos casos pero no en otros. Es una mentirosa.
Sabe como manipular el sistema, sabe como ser una ficha de encaje.” Dijeron su
críticos. Entonces colocaron a Hillary contra un hombre que, en cualquier otro
caso, no hubiera sido un oponente digno, un oponente racista, narcisista, egoís-
ta, y muchas otras cosas. Este hombre de alguna manera convenció a las masas y
ahora es nuestro próximo presidente. Yo no me sentí felíz en ese momento, pero
entre más pensaba en esto, pude ver como Las mujeres reales tienen curvas es co-
mo un arma en contra de la injusticia de este mundo. Teatro Tercera Llamada es
la primera compañía de teatro en español que se presenta en el Kentucky Center
for the Performing Arts. Somos los primeros en presenter una obra totalmente en
español. Somos los primeros en presenter nuestra producción en la temporada 2017
del teatro “The MeX.” Con esta producción estamos tomando una posición y luchan-
do, como en la obra,--que contiene una poderosa historia acerca de las mujeres--
y los estamos haciendo a través de la comedia.

Jay Marie Padilla
When we first looked at this play, Real Women Have Curves, I was directing my
first Teatro Tercera Llamada play, which was Monsters in the Closet/Ogres Under
the Bed back in 2014. Back then, “Real Women…” was merely mentioned as a possi-
bility but was shelved because I wasn’t ready to direct a five-person play. We
also did not know what kind of talent pool we could get within the Louisville
Spanish community. We knew that this cast needed to look a certain way in order
for the title to really make it’s message stand but we hadn’t found such ac-
tresses. Then, Carlos-Manuel, one of the founders of the company and members of
the board, told us that there was a Spanish production of the play being pro-
duced in Atlanta, Georgia. This was back in the spring of 2015 so naturally
Haydee and I went to go see it. After seeing the show, we were truly convinced
we needed to stage “Real Women…” because of the many themes explored in it. The
play looks at subjects the company constantly looks for in the shows we pre-
sent: immigration, education, abuse, and many others. “Real Women…” talks about
infertility. It talks about what’s expected of women, how we’re suppose to
look, how we’re suppose to talk, what makes us a ‘good’ wife: quiet, child
bearing, housekeeper and so much more. I other words, a man’s view. Originally,
we scheduled the production for the fall of 2015. But after we got a spot in
the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts lottery in The MeX Theater, we de-
cided that Real Women Have Curves was the perfect show to produce at The MeX in
order to give the Louisville theatre community and audiences an opportunity to
see who and what Teatro Tercera Llamada is and can do as a theatre company.
With the political climate of 2016, Haydee and I were even more excited about
the show. We were hoping Hillary Clinton’s elections as our first female presi-
dent that we as women, would be able to prove to the world that we are worth
more than what most people think of us. During her campaign though, I noticed
that Hillary Clinton was treated like many women who are outspoken, assertive,
and hardnosed are: like a bitch or a shrew. “She was too hard in some cases and
not hard enough in others. She’s a liar. She knows how to work the system.
She’s too fill in the blank.” Her critics said. She was then placed against a
man who, in any other case would not have been a worthy opponent, an opponent
who is an egotist, racist, narcissistic, and many other things. Somehow he
spoke to so many that he is our next president. I was not happy at the time but
the more I thought about it the more I took Real Women Have Curves as a way to
take a stand against the injustice of this world. Teatro Tercera Llamada is the
first Spanish theater company to perform in the Kentucky Center for the Per-
forming Arts. We are the first to do an all-Spanish play at this venue. We are
the first ones to be performing in The MeX in the 2017 season. We are taking a
stand and fighting, like in the play, which is about powerful story about
women, and we are doing it through comedy.

a traer teatro de español a Louisville y sus al-
rededores. Trabajamos una obra a la vez y ponemos todos nues-
tros
esfuerzo, tiempo y talento para llevarle Louisville, Kentucky
lo mejor que tenemos. Somos una pequeña compañîa de teatro, op-
erando como una organización sin fines de lucro, sin embargo

tucky Center for the Performing Arts. La importancia de esto no

All of us at Teatro Tercera Llamada are committed to bringing
Spanish Language theatre to Louisville and its surrounding com-
munities. We work one play at a time and put all our effort,
time and talent to bringing Louisville, Kentucky the best we
have. We are a small non-profit theatre company, but have
found ourselves today presenting Real Women Have Curves by
Josefina López at a very important venue, The Kentucky Center
for the Performing Arts. The importance of this has not eluded
us. For the first time, a Spanish language play will be per-
formed here.
This hasn’t happened in a vacuum. We reached this milestone
with the support of our community. The words of encouragement
from other theatre companies, the financial support of communi-
ty members and arts foundations.

Biografías
JAY MARIE PADILLA (Ana y Directora) está emocionado
de estar dirigiendo otro espectáculo con Teatro Ter-
cera Llamada. No solo dirigiéndolo sino tambiénhaci-
endo el papel de Ana con este elenco fabuloso. Su fa-
milia es de Puerto Rico, pero nació en Hawai. Ella
obtuvo su licensitura en la Universidad de Louisville
en Inglés y Teatro Artes. Recientemente dirigió el
estreno mundial de Silueta y estuvo en Algo de Un Tal
Shakespeare a principios de este año con Teatro Ter-
cera Llamada. También trabaja con varias otras com-
pañías de teatro en la ciudad como una actriz, direc-
tor o director de escena: El chico que lloró Lobo co-
mo Fransisco con Commonwealth Theatre Centre, The
Chamber Theatre como directora de escena, Looking for Lilith y Savage Rose al
nombre unos pocos. Ella está muy emocionada de presentar esta obra que aborda
las ideas de los cuerpos de las mujeres y sus papeles en la sociedad de una
manera humorística.
LUZ ESTELA GONZÁLEZ HOYOS (Carmen) Soy orgullosamente
Colombiana,estudie Administración de Empresas en Co-
lombia ,aquí trabajo en ventas y me encanta!Tengo dos
bellos hijos que son mi motor y mi mayor bendición. Mi
papel en esta divertida obra es el de Carmen! La típi-
ca mamá que piensa que las mujeres deben pensar solo
en encontrar un marido para que resuelva su vida así
como ella lo hizo! Sin importar sus sueños y aspira-
ciones!pero que al final de cuentas termina apoyándo-
las y sintiéndose orgullosa de sus logros! Esta linda
experiencia me ha recordado mucho a mi madre,de quien
herede esta afición por el teatro. Mil gracias a todas
y cada una de las personas que han hecho posible esta
linda obra tan llena de folclor y diversión.
PENELOPE QUESADA es la maestra instrumental Orff Musi-
cal de la Escuela Primaria Lincoln Elementary Perform-
ing Arts School. Le gusta mucho enseñar a los estu-
diantes de primaria usando la metodología Orff Schul-
werk. La Sra. Quesada asesora a nuevos maestros de
música en su distrito y supervisa y educa a maestros
de educación musical de la Universidad de Louisville.
Con una vasta experiencia como profesora de música
bilingüe, Penélope ha enseñado música en escuelas pri-
marias en su país natal, Perú, el Sistema Escolar
Católico de Louisville y JCPS. Le gusta investigar,
encontrar y crear formas innovadoras de enseñar música
a los niños para incluir el pensamiento creativo En
sus lecciones, integrar las artes y la tecnología en los currículos e incorporar
la música del mundo en su enseñanza diaria.
Biographies
JAY MARIE PADILLA is excited to be directing another
show with Teatro Tercera Llamada. Not only directing
it but also getting to be in it like Ana with this
fabulous cast. His family is from Puerto Rico, but he
was born in Hawaii. She has a Bachelors degree from
the University of Louisville in English and Theater
Arts. She recently directed the world premier of Silu-
eta and was in Something About A So Called Shakespeare
earlier this year with Teatro Tercera Llamada. Miss
Padilla also works with several other theater compa-
nies in the city as an actress, director or stage man-
ager as well as The Boy Who Cry Wolf as Fransisco with
Commonwealth Theater Center, The Chamber Theater as
Stage Manager, Looking for Lilith and Savage Rose to
name a few. She is very excited to present this work
that addresses the ideas of women's bodies and their roles in society in a hu-
morous way.
LUZ ESTELA GONZáLEZ HOYOS I am a proud Colombian, I
studied Business Administration in Colombia, here I
work in sales and I love it. I have two beautiful
children who are my passion and my greatest blessing.
My role in this fun work is Carmen. The typical mom
who thinks that women should think only about finding
a husband to solve her life just like she did. Regard-
less of your dreams and aspirations. But ultimately
end up supporting them and feeling proud of their
achievements. This beautiful experience reminded me a
lot of my mother, who inherited this love of theater.
A thousand thanks to each and every one of the people
who have made this beautiful work so full of folklore
and fun possible.
PENELOPE QUESADA is the Music Orff Instrumental teach-
er at Lincoln Elementary Performing Arts School. She
immensely enjoys teaching elementary students using
the Orff Schulwerk methodology. Ms. Quesada mentors
new music teachers in her district and supervises and
mentors music education student teachers from the Uni-
versity of Louisville. With a vast experience as a bi-
lingual music teacher, Penelope has taught music in
elementary schools in her native country Peru, the
Louisville Catholic School System and JCPS.She likes
to research, find and create innovate ways to teach
music to children to include creative thinking in her
lessons, to integrate the arts and technology in the curricula and incorporate
world music in her daily teaching.

SARAH C BAKER (Pancha) con alegría, se presenta otra vez
con el Teatro Tercera Llamada en el papel de Pancha, una
costurera apasionada y vivaz. Es su segunda oportunidad
para actuar con esta compañía teatral, primera vez era la
protagonista de la obra Henny Penny del año pasado, en el
papel principal, Henny Hen. Ella obtenía mucha experiencia
variada del teatro en su colegio, New Albany High School,
también representando con sus grupos de danza, coro, y ot-
ras artes pompas.Sarah es de Carolina del Norte, y estudió
Química a la Universidad de Louisville antes de especial-
izándose en Español. Después, ella pasó mucho tiempo en el
Caribe y se sumergió en la cultura, la música, y el baile.
Entonces, ella ha estudiado baile de salsa y bachata por 4
años, y ha bailado en festivales y congresos en varios países.Sarah está muy en-
tusiasmada de ser parte de un reparto adorable y chistoso como ellas analizan
las temas feministas todavía muy pertinentes de esta obra teatral, mientras
también exponiéndolas desde el punto de vista de los inmigrantes en los EEUU.
XENIA MILLER (Rosali) nació en San Salvador, El Salvador.
Ella es Rosali en la obra. Desde muy niña le gustaba
escribir poesía, actuar y cantar . Escribió un guión para
una obra llamada "El día de la madre" que actuó y dirigió.
También escribió un cuento llamado" La luz de la Navidad".
Aunque se dedicó a estudiar la carrera de Ciencias Ju-
rídicas en la Universidad Centroamericana 'José Simeón Ca-
ñas' UCA. Su sueño siempre fue actuar en teatro. Ella
agradece infinitamente a la actriz y productora Haydee Ca-
novas y a la actriz y directora Jay Marie Padilla por esta
maravillosa oportunidad y a su familia por su apoyo incon-
dicional.
DIRECTORA DE ESCENA JASMINE JONES está extática de estar trabajando con Teatro
Tercera Llamada de Nuevo. Con su hogar en Indiana, ella está emocionada de
ayudar a su nueva familia de teatro a poner en esta emocionante, divertida y
conmovedora producción de Curvas. ¡A las damas del espectáculo y al escenario!

ASISTENTE DE DIR. DE ESCENA ISABEL VILLA MARTINEZ nacío en México en el bello
estado de Michoacan. Soy madre de dos hermosas hijas y abuela de seis preciosos
nietos que son mi mayor bendición. Estudie enfermería y por cuestiones famili-
ares imigre a este país ase 20 años y lo que más disfruto hacer es servicio a la
comunidad. Desde muy niña me a gustado el teatro, pero por cuestiones del idioma
nunca pude asistir a uno pero cuando escuché del teatro tercera llamada decidí
apollar el teatro en español aquí en KY, asistiendo y invitando a la comunidad
puesto que considero que nuestros hijos y nietos deben tener la oportunidad de
conocer un poco más de su cultura y fue así que conocí a esta maravillosa señora
Haydee Canovas y fue ella la que me invito junto con la hermosa Jay Marie Pa-
dilla a participar en esta gran obra. Estoy muy agradecida con ellas por permit-
irme vivir esta hermosa experiencia la cual me permite conocer personas maravil-
losas que me dejan una gran enseñanza.
Biographies
SARAH C BAKER happily takes the stage once again with
Teatro Tercera Llamada in her role as the spirited
seamstress, Pancha. This is her second time working
with Teatro Tercera Llamada, beginning her Spanish-
speaking theatre experience by starring in last year's
production of Henny Penny as Henny Hen. Her extensive
and varied involvement in theatre productions at New
Albany High School paved the way for her to continue
performing in various avenues including winter guard,
drum corps, dance, and collegiate choir. Sarahhails
from North Carolina and studied Chemistry at the Uni-
versity of Louisville before shifting her focus to
Spanish. Afterward, she traveled and immersed herself
in the culture of the Caribbean, which included music
and dance. She has been studying salsa and bachata for 4 years, and has since
performed at salsa festivals and congresses here and abroad.Sarah is excited to
be a part of this endearing and hilarious cast as they tackle the ever-relevant
feminist themes in this play, presenting them through the lens of the immigrant
experience in America.
XENIA MILLER was born in San Salvador, El Salvador. She
is Rosali in the play. From a very young age she liked
to write poetry, act and sing. He wrote a play called
"Mother's Day" that she acted and directed. She also
wrote a story called "The Light of Christmas". Although
she dedicated herself to study Juridical Sciences in
the Central American University 'José Simeón Cañas'
UCA. Her dream was always to act in theater. She is
grateful to the actress and producer Haydee Canovas
Hernandez and the actress and director Jay Marie Pa-
dilla for this wonderful opportunity and her family for
their unconditional support.
STAGE MANAGER JASMINE JONES is ecstatic to be working with El Teatro Tercera
Llamada again! With her home in Indiana, she is excited to help her new theater
family put on this heart-warming, fun, and touching production of Curves. To the
ladies of the show and to the stage- cheers!
ASSISTANT STAGE MANAGER ISABEL VILLA MARTINEZ was born in Mexico in the beauti-
ful state of Michoacan. She is the mother of two beautiful daughters and grand-
mother of six precious grandchildren who are her greatest blessings. She studied
nursing and immigrated to this country for 20 years ago. She enjoys community
service. I am very grateful to Jay Marie Padilla and Haydee Canovas for allowing
me to live this beautiful experience which allows me to meet wonderful people
and experience another world. The world of theatre.

Diseñador de Luces John Newman ha estado diseñando iluminación para las
producciones alrededor de Louisville por casi 10 años, y ha diseñado para
la etapa uno, Looking for Lilith,Pandora Productions, Louisville Reperato-
ry Theatre, Wayward Actor’s Company, The Alley Theatre , Savage Rose Clas-
sical Theatre, Globe Players at Kentucky Shakespeare Festival, Collegiate
School de Louisville y la Universidad de Bellarmine. Esta es su primera
producción con Teatro Tercera Llamada.
Diseñadora de Sonidos Catalina Ibarra, estudió comunicaciones en IMS en
Illinois y se mudó a Louisville hace seis años. Actualmente trabaja en Co-
rona Spanish Media como director de estación y director de programa para
Poder 101.9fm y 94.1fm. Productor y editor de La Ruta TV.
Utilerías Jill Marie Schierbaum es una artista de teatro local. Ella está
muy emocionada de trabajar con el Teatro Tercera Llamada por primera vez.
Ella ha estado trabajando profesionalmente con Looking for Lilith Theatre
Company. Ella no es sólo su diseñador escénico residente y miembro de la
compañía, sino el Co-presidente de su Comité de Comunicaciones. Ella le
gustaría dedicar su parte en esta producción increíble a su niña, que la
lleva a seguir siempre sus sueños.
Productora, Diseñadora de Vestuario y Escenarío Haydee Cánovas es co-
fundador y productora de "Teatro Tercera Llamada". Ha sido productora en
las compañias : Teatro Tercera Llamada, Looking for Lilith Theatre Compa-
ny y El Delirio Producciones. Por profesión, la Sra. Canovas es una
enfermera avanzada y como hobby produce teatro.
Supertítulos Roxell Karr es un músico y multimedia artista electrónico que
reside en el área metropolitana de Louisville.
Diseñadora Grafíca Elizabeth Perello Alarcón es diseñadora gráfica con una
licenciatura de University of Chile. La señora. Perello Alarcón es la
diseñadora gráfica de El Kentubano en Kentucky y ha sido la diseñadora de
cabecera de Teatro Tercera Llamada.
Fotografía y Videografía Julio Samayoa en su paso por el teatro ha tenido
la oportunidad de participar en varias obras teatrales. La Pastorela, en
el papel de Diablillo, en Henny Penny de Carlos Manuel donde hizo el papel
de Ramón Rooster y como el Chamoy en Pa’Gringolandia. El Señor Samayoa
está contento por participar con Teatro Tercera Llamada, ahora en el área
de foto y video.
Biographies
Lighting Designer John Newman has been designing lighting for productions
around Louisville for almost 10 years, and has designed for Stage One,
Looking for Lilith, Pandora Productions, Louisville Repertory Company,
Wayward Actors' Company, The Alley Theater for Young Audiences, Shoestring
Productions, Little Colonel, Savage Rose Classical Theater Company, the
Globe Players at Kentucky Shakespeare Festival, Louisville Collegiate
School, and Bellarmine University. This is his first production with
Teatro Tercera Llamada.
Sound Designer Catalina Ibarra, studied comunications at IMS in Illinois
and moved to Louisville six years ago. Currently working at Corona Spanish
Media as station manager and program director for Poder 101.9fm and
94.1fm. Producer and editor for La Ruta TV.
Props Manager Jill Marie Schierbaum is a local theatre artist. She is su-
per excited to work with Teatro Tercera Llamada for he first time. She has
been working professionally with Looking for Lilith Theatre Company. She
is not only their resident scenic designer and company member but the Co-
chair of their Communications Committee. She would like to dedicate her
part in this amazing production to her little girl, who drives her to al-
ways follow her dreams.
Producer, Set and Costume Designer Haydee Canovas is co-founder and pro-
ducer of Teatro Tercera Llamada. Mrs. Canovas has been a producer for
the following companies: Teatro Tercera Llamada, Looking for Lilith Thea-
tre Company and El Delirio Producciones. By profession, Mrs. Canovas is a
Family Nurse Practitioner and produces theatre as a hobby.
Supertitles Roxell Karr is a musician and multi-media artist residing in
the greater Louisville metropolitan area.
Graphics Designer Elizabeth Perello Alarcón is a graphic designer with a
Bachelors degree from the University of Chile. Mrs. Perello Alarcon is
the graphic designer for El Kentubano en Kentucky and has been the house
designer for Teatro Tercera Llamada.
Photography and Videography Julio Samayoa in his short time in the theater
has had the opportunity to participate in three plays. La Pastorale in De-
cember. 2014 playing the role of Narco Devil and in Henny Penny by Carlos
Manuel in June 2015 where she played Ramon Rooster. He plays the role of
Chamoy (Enrique) in Pa'Gringolandia ago, and is grateful to Teatro Tercera
Llamada for the opportunity to participate in this great project. Mr. Sa-
mayoa is happy to continue working with Teatro Tercera Llamada in the ca-
pacity of photographer and videographer.

propósito de presentar obras de teatro en español para la comunidad his-

la comunidad latina de la ciudad de Louisville, KY y sus alrededores.
Como compañía no lucrativa, TEATRO TERCERA LLAMADA depende del trabajo de
voluntarios y donativos de aquellas personas que desean, de alguna
manera, ayudarnos a fomentar el teatro en español.

Teatro Tercera Llamada
Teatro Tercera Llamada is a non-profit theatre company with the purpose or
presenting Spanish language plays for the Spanish speaking community in
the city of Louisville, Kentucky and it’s surrounding communities.
It’s first purpose is to present entertaining, cultural, educational and
social conscience plays.
It’s second purpose is to present plays for adults and for children and
young adults.
It’s third purpose is with to work in collaboration with latino organiza-
tions to help and strengthen the social, educational, economic and cultur-
al levels within the latino community in the city of Louisville, Kentucky
and its surrounding communities.
As a non-profit company, TEATRO TERCERA LLAMADA depends on volunteers and
donations from persons and organizations that want to enhance the Spanish
language theatre community in our city.
