THE CORRECT PRONUNCIATION OF THE WORDS BY REPETITION. THE SS WILL IMITATE THE TEACHER.

WARM-UP (5 MINUTES)

I will greet the students and I will play the song “Hello” as in the previous class in order to make them do this as a habit.

I will ask the students to seat in a semi-circle and sing along the song. I will encourage the students to clap their hands or use gestures in time with the music.

PRESENTATION (15 MINUTES)

I: Let´s watch a video called: What´s the weather like today?

I: let´s do the same as in the video. Please, see outside the classroom through the window!!

I: “It´s cloudy today” (pointing to the sky). “It is grey!”

The students will guess the meaning of “Cloudy”. They guess correctly.

After that, I will stick on the board a picture of a sunny day.

I: “It is sunny (pointing to the picture)”. And the students say: “the sun is yellow!”

The students will guess the meaning perfectly.

I will do the same procedure with “Rainy” and “Snowy”. The student will do the task wonderfully!

What task? They will be inferring meaning. What about including these lexical items in a story? Otherwise, it is vocabulary out of context.

I will say: Very Good!

DEVELOPMENT

ACTIVITY 1 (15 MINUTES)

I will stick on the board a picture with all the types of weather, but I will ask the students to recognize the ones I have taught them in the previous presentation.

The students say: CLOUDY, SUNNY, RAINY AND SNOWY.

After that, I will say one of the new four words about vocabulary and I will ask one of the students to stand up and point to it in the picture on the board. The student will stand up and after pointing to the word I have said, he or she will seat in the semi-circle again.

I will do this with the four words. As the students are only 10 in the class, I will repeat the words 10 times in order to make them all participate.

Finally, I will say some of the sentences of the video, and I will ask the students to repeat each one after me. For example:

It is sunny!

The students repeat: It is sunny (all together).

Isolated words are not meaningful practice. The presentation stage could be part of a pre-listening activity, of a story or song. Please, revise.

TRANSITION (1 MINUTE)

Good Work!

I will tell the students that they will learn a new question in the following activity!

They will get ready!

ACTIVITY 2 (15 MINUTES)

The students will continue working with the video.

I: let´s learn the new question.

I will stick a flashcard with the question which appears in the video on the board!

I: What´s the weather like? (pointing to each word in the flashcard on the board)

WHAT IS THE WEATHER LIKE TODAY?

The students only recognize the word “weather” from the video.

I: Let´s stand up and stay next to the window. I will ask them to look outside. I will explain the new word through an example looking outside. I will ask:

- What´s the weather like today?

I will answer:

- It is Cloudy! (looking outside the window all together)The students understand the question perfectly. I will ask the students to seat in semi-circle again and I will ask the same question but that time pointing to the flashcards on the board. They will answer all together.

For example:

What´s the weather like? (I will point to the flashcard with the “rainy” weather picture on the board).

The students answer: “It is rainy”

The SS answer all together and they do it well with each one of the flashcards!

Your intention of making SS practice is good, but there is no context to practice the language.

ACTIVITY 3 (9 MINUTES)

I will read the question and the students should repeat it after me word by word. They will repeat all together.

Again, I will ask the students to answer the question orally, but that time the answer will depend on the flashcard I point!

TRANSITION (2 MINUTES)

I will say to the students: Well Done children!
