    Warm up

    Activities

Ill go over with the pupils the instruments and the instrumental families with flash cards.

The class is organized in 4 areas: a game of the goose, the mimes game, a guessing game, and the house of the instruments.

I present to pupils the 4 areas and later I explain to them what they have to do in each zone.

Zone No. 1: the game of the goose. One pupil throws the die and he has to move the counter to the new square. In order to goforward the pupil has to say correctly the name of the instrument and its family but if hefails the name or the family he will return the counter to the previous square. If the counter is in a square with an ear the pupil has to listen to an audio and he has toguess which instrument is sounding.

Zone No. 2: the mimes game. One learner takes a flashcard and then he has to mime a musician who is playing thatinstrument, their classmates have to guess the instrument with questions like: Is it a ?,is the sounding? ...

Zone No. 3: guessing game. Each pupil will take a piece of paper. They have to write a short description (4 sentences)

of one musical instrument. For instance, "it's a string instrument; it has 4 strings, it's biggerthan the cello"... Later, each learner has to read his description and his classmates have toguess the instrument.

Zone No. 4: the house of the instruments. In the middle of the table there are a lot of cards about instruments and 4 A4 papers ofdifferent color which represent the houses of the 4 instrument families. They have to take acard in turns and put the instrument in its house, later they have to explain to theirclassmates the reasons.
