Luteca was born out of a passion to showcase modernist design, inspired by the rich legacies of Mexico and Latin America, as well as honoring the traditional

craftsmanship of mid-century design. Founded in New York by husband and wife, Amanda and Sebastian Reant, and Swedish-Mexican designer Alexander Andersson,

with the purpose of bringing a unique aesthetic to an international design scene.

The first collection is comprised of Andersson’s own designs - seamless hybrids of both sides of his background. Minimal, Modernist silhouettes injected with tenets of

Mexican craft, and those of the late iconic Mexican architect Pedro Ramírez Vázquez, who’s never before seen furniture has been put into production for the first time

since inception in the late 1960s.

The beautiful simplicity of each sculptural piece is made possible by the detailed complexity of manufacture. Everything is produced in Mexico City and painstakingly

hand crafted and finished to a meticulous level.

Our idea is to create contemporary products and preserve Mexican handcraft.

One of the most famous, well-respected and award-winning Mexican architects and cultural figures of the twentieth century. His career spanned more than six

decades and included the design of some of Mexico’s most iconic modernist landmarks, including the Museum of Anthropology, the Basilica of Guadalupe

and the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City. He is also well known as the CIO and visual designer of the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico.

Recognized as a pioneer for innovation and his political involvement to build a modern Mexico, he also designed countless pieces of ingenious furniture,

only ever prototyped for his own personal use. His famed Equipal table and chair designed in 1964, along with never before produced occasional tables from the

1970s, formed from cut and folded sheet steel, are part of Luteca’s first collection.

The architecture of Pedro Ramírez Vázquez is being honored in an exhibition called “Latin America in Construction” at the MoMA in New York

from March 29th to July 12th, 2015

A Swedish Mexican designer that has been designing and making furniture for almost a decade. Having become widely viewed as a designer to be

watched, Alexander collaborated on a wide range of interior design projects, as well as developing successful furniture for a number of Mexican brands. Born in Sweden, he has immersed himself in the rich history of Mexico City

and is responsible for giving the light of day to the unknown furniture collections of Pedro Ramírez Vázquez.

Combined with exceptional skills for designing furniture that know no

boundaries of time, space or constraints of trend, and concerned only with an innate intuition for beautiful design, Alexander designs and curates Luteca’s

collection with mindful editing to resonate with an international design community.
