1. Actividades

1.1 Activation

Estudia cuidadosamente la información relacionada con el uso del presente continuo para hablar de planes

en el futuro. Traduce el párrafo si es necesario.

Present Continuous/Progressive for the future

We can also use the Present Continuous tense to talk about the future - if we add a future word!! We must

add (or understand from the context) a future word. "Future words" include, for example, tomorrow, next

year, in June, at Christmas etc. We only use the Present Continuous tense to talk about the future when we

have planned to do something before we speak. We have already made a decision and a plan before

speaking.

I am taking my exam next month.

Past present future

A firm plan or programme exists now. The action is in the future.

Look at these examples:

• We're eating at Joe's Cafe tonight. We've already booked the table.

• They can play tennis with you tomorrow. They're not working.

• When are you starting your new job?

• We're having a party at Christmas.

In these examples, a firm plan or programme exists before speaking. The decision and plan were

made before speaking.

1.2 Presentation

Estudia cuidadosamente cómo se estructura el presente continuo en su forma afirmativa, negativa e

interrogativa.

• The auxiliary verb (be) is conjugated in the Present Simple: am, are, is

• The main verb is invariable in present participle form: -ing

• For negative sentences we insert not between the auxiliary verb and the main verb.

• For question sentences, we exchange the subject and the auxiliary verb.

Look at these example sentences with the Present Continuous tense:

1.3 Practice

Responde en inglés a cada una de las preguntas siguientes. Escribe las respuestas en futuro usando el

presente continuo. Escríbelas en tu cuaderno o computadora.

Example:

What is Kim doing on Monday evening? (to meet Tom)

She is meeting Tom.

1. What is she doing on Tuesday afternoon? (look after Carol's kids)

2. What is she doing on Tuesday evening? (play badminton)

3. What is she doing on Wednesday morning? (see the dentist)

4. What is she doing on Wednesday evening? (work late)

5. What is she doing on Thursday afternoon? (pick up Jen from the airport)

6. What is she doing on Friday evening? (go to a concert)

7. What is she doing on Saturday morning? (go on a sight-seeing tour with Jen)

8. What is she doing on Saturday evening? (have a party)

9. What is she doing on Sunday morning? (take Jen to the airport)

Escribe en tu cuaderno o computadora 10 oraciones en inglés en las que describas actividades que realizarás

en el futuro. Recuerda utilizar el presente continuo/progresivo.
