Tricampeón del mundo de Moto GP en 2010, 2012 y 2015 y bicampeón del mundo en 250cc. Este luchador “espartano” se define como perfec-cionista dentro y fuera del asfalto y su propósito es siempre llegar a lo más alto del podio. Rompedor de récords, fue el piloto más joven en correr un Campeonato del Mundo, el de Jerez, con tan solo 15 años.

Jorge Lorenzo nació el 4 de mayo de 1985 en Palma de Mallorca y desde pequeño las mo-tos han sido su pasión. Su padre, mecánico, le construyó su primera motocicleta a los 3 años, con la que se presentó a una competición de minicross. Ahí empezó a crecer la leyenda, for-jada paso a paso con capacidad de superación y esfuerzo.

Energía, positivismo y madurez son palabras es-critas en el ADN del piloto. Deja huella en todo lo que hace; creó una marca a raíz de su particular manera de adelantar a los rivales: X-fuera, que se imprime en todo tipo de merchandising. Y en cada victoria clava su bandera, Lorenzo’s Land, dando rienda suelta a curiosas coreografías. En el asfalto, su sello de identidad es la concentra-ción, demostrando en cada competición el gran futuro que tiene por delante.

He is a record breaker and also the youngest pilot who ran a World Championship with only 15 years old (in Jerez, Spain).

Jorge Lorenzo was born in Palma de Mallorca on 4th of May, 1985. Motorcycles have always been his passion, even when he was just a kid. His father, mechanic, built him his first motorbike at the age of 3, and he went to a minicross competition with it. This was the moment when he started to create the legend, forget step by step with effort and overcoming ability.

Energy, positivism and maturity are words written in Lorenzo’s DNA. He leaves a mark in everything he does, and he also created a personal footprint from his particular way of overtake his opponents: X-out, which is printed in every kind of merchandising. Moreover, he nails his flag in each victory, performing curious choreographies. On the road his hallmark is the concentration, by showing in every com-petition the great future that lies ahead.

HOW ARE YOU LIVING THIS SEASON KNOWING THAT YOU COULD WIN YOUR SIXTH WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP AND WHO IS YOUR BIGGEST OPPONENT?

We have not reached the middle of the season yet, so it’s early to make predictions and I do not like it too much, but Valentino, Marquez and I are now the candidates for the title. Each race is a different story. The goal is to win the World Championship, but it’s all very tight.

WHAT WOULD MEAN FOR YOU WINNING YOUR FOURTH WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP IN MOTOGP WITH YAMAHA?

This is something that I have never got in MotoGP, revalidate a world title. It is a very big motivation and I’m totally focused on this. Giving Yamaha a world title before facing my new challenge for 2017 would be very special.

WE HAVE SEEN A LOT OF RIVALRY BETWEEN YOU, MARC MÁRQUEZ AND VALENTINO ROSSI. IF YOU WEREN’T THE CHAMPION, WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO WIN?

t’s not up to me so I wouldn’t be worried. All I want is that the best man wins, the one who has won more races, made more merits, been faster...

WHAT WAS THE MOTIVATION THAT PROMPTED YOU TO SIGN FOR DUCATI THE NEXT SEASON?

I needed a change just to keep my motivation high. In preseason I saw my future more blue than red, but after the GP of Qatar’s, Ducati’s interest was so great. The fact of being so many years in Yamaha, having nothing to prove, having won three titles, it leads me to the point where I want to prove that I can also win with another motorbike, with which only Stoner has won.

DO YOU HAVE FUTURE PLANS INVOLVING MOTORCYCLING OR WOULD YOU LIKE TO TRY SOMETHING NEW?

I just try to talk about the immediate future. For the moment, I know that I will be riding until 2018, which is what I signed with Ducati... then we’ll see. My motivation to continue in the World

Championship and winning it all is still intact, and that’s all that counts.

WHEN DID YOUR PASSION FOR MOTORCYCLES APPEAR AND HOW IT BECAME YOUR VOCATION?

My father taught me this passion. He had been an amateur pilot and worked in a garage in Mallorca. When I was 3, he built a bike with his own hands, based on parts of other bikes and with a 50cc engine. Then that bike became my favorite toy and my hobby.

THE MOTORSPORT IS VERY HARD. WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE WHO IS STARTING?

I am not pretty good at giving advice, but in my case the mentality, determination and curiosity to improve have been the key to success. Talent is important, but it can be trained and it is essential to succeed. It doesn’t matter how much talent you have, if you don’t work and train hard is very difficult to reach the top.

YOU STARTED VERY YOUNG. WHAT HAVE YOU HAD TO SACRIFICE IN YOUR LIFE?

The most important thing I missed are the hours I lost without my family and friends, and also the studies. With 15 years, I had to decide whether to dedicate myself 100% to motorbikes or combine it with the studies. It was clear that if I wanted to succeed I had to choose. ¿TE GUSTARÍA QUE EN UN FUTURO TU CA-RRERA PROFESIONAL SIGUIERA VINCULA-DA AL MUNDO DEL MOTOCICLISMO O TIE-NES OTROS PLANES?

Intento solo hablar de futuro inmediato. De mo-mento sé que estaré pilotando hasta el 2018, que es lo que he firmado con Ducati… después ya se verá. Mi motivación por seguir en el Mun-dial y por ganar sigue intacta y eso es lo único que cuenta.

¿CUANDO SURGIÓ TU AFICIÓN POR LAS MOTOS Y COMO SE CONVIRTIÓ EN TU VO-CACIÓN?

Mi padre me inculcó esta pasión. Él había sido piloto amateur y trabajaba en un taller mecánico en Mallorca. Cuando yo tenía 3 años me cons-truyó una moto con sus propias manos, a base de piezas de otras motos y un motor de 50cc. Y a partir de ahí, esa moto se convirtió en mi juguete favorito, en mi hobby.

EL MUNDO DEL MOTOR ES MUY DURO. ¿QUÉ CONSEJO LE DARÍAS A ALGUIEN QUE ESTÁ EMPEZANDO?

No soy muy de dar consejos, pero en mi caso la mentalidad, la determinación y la curiosidad por mejorar han sido claves para llegar hasta lo más alto. El talento es importante, pero todo se puede entrenar y es imprescindible para triunfar. Por mucho talento que tengas, sino lo trabajas y entrenas es muy difícil llegar a la cima.

EMPEZASTE DESDE MUY JOVEN. ¿QUÉ CO-SAS HAS TENIDO QUE SACRIFICAR EN TU VIDA?

Todavía no hemos llegado al ecuador de la temporada, es pronto para hacer pronósticos y no me gustan demasiado, pero tanto Valentino como Márquez como yo somos los candidatos ahora mismo al título. Cada carrera es una his-toria completamente diferente. El objetivo es ganar el Mundial, pero está todo muy apretado.

¿QUÉ SIGNIFICARÍA PARA TI GANAR TU 4º MUNDIAL DE MOTOGP CON YAMAHA Y EN-CIMA EL SEGUNDO CONSECUTIVO?

Sería algo que nunca he conseguido en Moto-GP, revalidar un título Mundial. Es una motiva-ción muy grande y estoy totalmente centrado en esto. Poderle dar un título Mundial a Yamaha antes de afrontar mi nuevo reto para 2017 sería muy especial.

EN LO QUE LLEVAMOS DE TEMPORADA SE HA VISTO UNA GRAN RIVALIDAD CON MARC MÁRQUEZ Y TAMBIÉN EN ESPECIAL CON TU COMPAÑERO DE ESCUDERÍA VA-LENTINO ROSSI. ¿SI NO FUERAS TÚ, QUIEN TE GUSTARÍA QUE GANASE?

No depende de mí y por lo tanto me da un poco igual. Lo único que quiero es que lo gane el me-jor, el que haya ganado más carreras, hecho más méritos, sido más rápido…

¿CUÁL FUE LA MOTIVACIÓN QUE TE IMPUL-SÓ A FICHAR POR DUCATI LA TEMPORADA QUE VIENE?

Sentía que necesitaba un cambio sencillamen-te para mantener mi motivación al máximo. En pretemporada veía mi futuro más en azul que en rojo, pero tras el GP de Qatar el interés de Du-cati fue muy grande. El hecho de estar muchos años en Yamaha, de no tener nada que demos-

dedicarme al 100% a las motos o compaginarlo con los estudios. Tuve claro que si quería triun-far, tenía que escoger. Por suerte, estar dentrodel Mundial desde los 15 años me ha aportado otras cosas, he visto mundo, he convivido y apren-dido de gente mucho mayor que yo y además siempre he sido muy curioso, he leído mucho…

¿CÓMO ES UN DÍA CUALQUIERA EN LA VIDA DE JORGE LORENZO?

Soy muy casero y disciplinado, tengo una vida muy normal. Entreno unas 6 horas al día, mu-chas veces con doble sesión y según si entre-no con la moto, en bicicleta de montaña o en el gimnasio (según la época del año). Intento hacer una siesta siempre que puedo y comer bien. Siempre como muy sano, es uno de los sacrificios que también hago con este deporte.

EN EL PASADO MES DE MAYO PRESENTAS-TE EN ANDORRA EL PROYECTO WORLD CHAMPIONS COLLECTIONS. ¿QUÉ JOYAS DEL MOTOCICLISMO PODREMOS VER EN TU COLECCIÓN?

Hace unos 4 años que empecé a coleccionar monos y cascos de Campeones de Fórmula 1 y MotoGP. Empezó siendo una simple curiosidad y ha acabado siendo casi una obsesión. Lo que quiero es compartirlo con todos los aficionados al mundo del motor y por eso me he decidido a lanzar este proyecto, un museo-restaurante único en el mundo. Tengo cascos y monos de Ayrton Senna, Schumacher, Hamilton, Raikko-nen, Wayne Rayney, Casey Stoner, Alex Crivillé o Mick Doohan…

EL AÑO PASADO VIAJASTE A ANANTAPUR A VER LA FUNDACIÓN VICENTE FERRER. ¿QUÉ ES LO QUE MÁS TE IMPACTÓ DE LA INDIA?

manera como viven te hace tocar con los pies en el suelo. Es impresionante la energía que tienen y esa actitud positiva con la que los ciudadanos de la zona de Anantapur afrontan su día a día a pesar de las dificultades.

HACE 6 AÑOS TE VIMOS DE ACTOR EN UNA CONOCIDA SERIE ESPAÑOLA. ¿TE GUSTA-RÍA REPETIR ESA EXPERIENCIA?

Fue simplemente un cameo, pero siempre me ha gustado todo el tema de la interpretación. Admiro mucho a los grandes actores y me gusta mucho el cine. Durante algunos meses hice tea-tro, pero lo dejé. No podía dedicarle el tiempo suficiente y era absurdo seguir. Quien sabe, qui-zás vuelve a surgir alguna oportunidad.

About 4 years ago I started collecting jumpsuits and helmets from Formula 1 and MotoGP champions. It started as a curiosity and has ended up being almost an obsession. What I want is to share it with all motorsport fans and I have also decided to launch this project: a museum-restaurant unique in the world. LAST YEAR YOU WENT TO ANANTAPUR TO SEE THE VICENTE FERRER’S FOUNDATION. WHAT IMPRESS YOU THE MOST ABOUT INDIA?

People’s smiles, their way of facing life without having so much, it impressed me a lot. Seeing in first person what the Foundation does and how they live makes you stay with your feet on the ground. The energy they have and that positive attitude with the citizens of Anantapur facing their daily lives despite the difficulties are very impressive.

6 YEARS AGO WE SAW YOU AS AN ACTOR IN A POPULAR SPANISH SERIES. WOULD YOU LIKE TO REPEAT THE EXPERIENCE?

It was just a cameo, but I’ve always liked this whole world of interpretation. I really admire the great actors and I love movies. I did theater for a few months, but I quit. I could not devote enough time and it was absurd to continue. Who knows, maybe some opportunity appears again.

6. ¿CUÁL ES TU MAYOR EXTRAVAGANCIA?No sé si es una extravagancia pero me gustan los coches deportivos.
