LAS APARICIONES THE APPARITIONS

PRIMERA APARICIÓN

El 9 Diciembre de 1531, al pasar por el cerro del Tepeyac, Juan Diego escuchó una dulce voz desde la cumbre lo llamaba “Juanito, el más pequeño de mis hijos, mucho deseo, mucho quisiera que en este lugar se me construya un templo...”

FIRST APPARITION

On December 9, 1531, while taking a walk by the hill of Tepeyac, Juan Diego heard a sweet voice that called to him from the summit: “Juan Diego, littlest of my children, I desire so much, I would like that a church be built for me in this place...”

SEGUNDA APARICIÓN

El 10 de Diciembre de 1531, nuevamente Juan Diego encuentra a la Santísima Virgen, “Yo soy la Perfecta Siempre Virgen Santa María, Madre del Verdaderísimo Dios por quien se vive”, y lo cita para el día siguiente.

SECOND APPARITION

On December 10, 1531, Juan Diego again sees the Holy Virgin, who reveals her identity: “I am the Immaculate Ever Virgin Holy Mary, Mother of the most true God for everyone that lives.” She also makes an appointment to meet him the following day.

TERCERA APARICIÓN

A las 6 de la mañana del 12 Diciembre de 1531, Juan Diego encuentra al la Señora del Cielo que le dice: “Que nada te inquiete, que nada te perturbe, tu tío ya sanó. ¿No estoy Yo aquí que soy tu madre...?” Y después de que lo mandó a cortar las rosas, la Virgen las tocó y lo envió con el Obispo Zumárraga, para entregarle la prueba solicitada por este.

THIRD APPARITION

At 6 o’clock in the morning, December 12, 1531, Juan Diego finds the Lady of the Heavens and she said: “Let nothing trouble you, nothing disturb you. Your uncle has already been healed. Am I not here? Am I not your mother?” Later she sent him to the hilltop to cut roses. The Virgin touched them and she sent Diego with the flowers to Bishop Zumárraga as the requested proof.

CUARTA APARICIÓN

El 12 de Diciembre de 1531, frente al Obispo Fray Juan de Zumárraga, Juan Diego despliega su ayate y mientras las rosas se esparcen por el suelo, aparece plasmada en la burda tilma la prodigiosa imagen de la Siempre Virgen, Santa María de Guadalupe.

FOURTH APPARITION

On December 12, 1531, in front of Bishop Juan de Zumárraga, Juan Diego unfolds his “ayate tilma.” While the roses fall to the ground, the prodigious image of the ever Virgin, Holy Mary of Guadalupe appears on the “tilma.”

Virgen santísima, aquí me tienes Madre mía, con el

corazón lleno de gratitud y esperanza. Vengo a buscar tu consuelo y protección.

Vengo confiado a refugiarme en tu amoroso regazo de madre divina y para agradecerte todas las

bendiciones con que has colmado mi vida.

Siempre me has ayudado a remediar mis males, has sido mi abogada incondicional ante tu hijo Jesucristo,

por quien sufriste dolorosamente cuando lo crucificaron por nuestros pecados.

Te ruego Madre mía, sigas pidiendo a tu divino hijo por mí, por mi familia y

por todos aquellos que te llevan en el corazón.

Dame tu aliento virgencita de Guadalupe, para afrontar con entereza la vida y concédeme la

gracia de gozar diario de tu presencia, ya que estando cerca de tí me siento seguro,

protegido y confiado de tu cuidado. Estando contigo soy feliz. Gracias por concederme la

dicha de estar a tus pies.

Most Blessed Virgin, my Mother,

I am yours. I am here with my heart full of gratitude and hope.

I come to seek your consolation and protection. I confidently come to take refuge in your loving

bosom as a Divine Mother and to thank you for all the blessings with which you have given me.

You have always helped me to resolve my misfortunes; you have been my unconditional

advocate before your Son, Jesus Christ, with whom you painfully suffered

when he was crucified for our sins. I beg you my Mother; continue interceding to your Divine Son for me, for my family,

and for all those who carry you in their hearts. Give me your encouragement, dear Virgin of

Guadalupe, to face life with integrity and grant me the grace of enjoying your presence daily, since I feel

secure when I am close to you, protected and confident in your care.

I am happy being with you. Thank you for granting me the joy of being at your feet.

Virgen de Guadalupe,

que a México le has querido dar especiales muestras de amor y has prometido consuelo y ayuda a los que

te aman y siguen, Mira benignamente a todos tus hijos que te

invocamos. Conserva en nuestras almas el don precioso de la gracia divina. Haz que seamos fieles a la voluntad de Dios, de tal manera que cada vez se

extienda más su reino en los corazones, en las familias y en nuestra nación.

Virgen Santísima, acompáñanos en el trabajo cotidiano, en las plegarias, en las penas, en las

dificultades de la vida, de modo que nuestro espíritu inmortal pueda elevarse libre y puro al Señor, para servirlo gozosamente, con generosidad y fervor.

Defiéndenos de todo mal Madre de México; haz que seamos fieles imitadores de Jesús, que es Camino,

Our Lady of Guadalupe,

you wanted to give Mexico a special display of your love, and you have promised consolation and help to those that love you and follow you. Look kindly upon

all your children that invoke you. Conserve in our souls the precious gift of divine grace. Make us be

faithful to the will of God, in such a way that His reign will always spread more and more in all hearts,

families, and in our nation. Most Blessed Virgin, accompany us in our daily work, in our requests, in our pains, in the difficulties of our

lives, so that our immortal spirit can rise free and pure to the Lord, to serve Him joyfully, with

generosity and fervor. Defend us from all evil, Mother of Mexico,

make us faithful imitators of Jesus, who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Enable us to one day reach

the prize of eternal glory in heaven. Amen.

Pertenezco a tí por mil razones, pero no me contento con ser tuyo por esta potestad quiero ser tuyo también por la elección de mi propia voluntad.

Postrado delante tuyo, te elijo por mi reina y Señora, y con este motivo confirmo el dominio que tienes

sobre mí; quiero depender de tí; que los designios que tiene para mí la divina Providencia pasen por tu

manos. Dispon de mí como te agrade. Que los succesos de mi vida sean guiados por tí. Confío

plenamente en tu benignidad. Amén.

Act of Contrition My Lord Jesus Christ, true God and true man,

my Creator and Redeemer, for being who you are and because I love you above all things, I am sorry

with all of my heart for having offended you, I resolve to amend my life and to confess my sins as soon as I

can. I offer everything I do in expiation for my sins and I trust that you will forgive me by your infinite

goodness and mercy. I ask you to give me your grace so as to not sin again.

This I ask through the intercession of our Blessed Mother, Our Lady of Guadalupe. Amen.

First Day Prayer

O Most Blessed Virgin of Guadalupe! You are Queen of the Universe. As Daughter, Mother, and Spouse of the Most High, you have an absolute power over all creatures. Thus, I am content to be yours. Yet, I am

yours for a thousand other reasons. I am not satisfied to be yours because your power. I also want to be

yours by the choice of my own will. Prostrated before you, I choose you as my Queen and Lady. For this

reason I confirm the dominion that you have over me. I want to depend on you and I desire that the designs

which Divine Providence has for me may pass through your hands. Dispose of me as you please.

May the successes of my life be guided by you. I fully trust in your goodness. Amen.

ésto que desde el trono de la gloria en donde existes como reina de los ángeles y de los hombres,

intercedes divinamente, rogando y procurando a favor nuestro.

you exist as the Queen of the Angels and of humankind, you divinely intercede, asking and seeking

in our favor. With what acts of recognition and gratitude will I be able to repay you for so much kindness? But if my heart does not have sufficient riches to repay you, I still ask you to enrich me with the precious gift of an unconditional obedience to the Lord. Multiply your mercies, O my Mother, and don't cease asking the

O Most Blessed Virgin Mary of Guadalupe! Seeing you surrounded by light, I can only think how you are intimately united to the sun of the Divinity! There is nothing in you that is not splendor, that is not grace, and

that is not sanctity. I can only think that you are immersed in the sea of the most exalted

perfections and attributes, and that God always has you in His heart. Our Lady, may such utmost happiness be for all the saints. I, meanwhile, enchanted by the joy that this causes in me, present myself before you,

pleading that you deign to send the light of faith into my heart. In this way, illuminate

my understanding and ignite my will. Amen.

O Most Blessed Virgin of Guadalupe! What great honor the heavenly angel has to be at your feet. He opens his arms and extends

his wings with such joy as to form with them a mantel to your divinity! What can I do to

manifest my veneration to you but offer you my heart and my soul, so that being

sanctified by you, they become worthy of you? That is why, my Lady, I ask you to

accept this gift despite whatever merit it is lacking due to my unworthiness. I compensate

this lack with my good will and my sincere love. Enter into my heart, and you

will see that no other wings move it, except the wings of desiring to be yours, and the

fear of offending your Divine Son. Let Jesus and Mary live eternally in my heart. Amen.

¿Con qué podría adornarse una belleza todo celestial, sino con los brillos de unas virtudes tan lúcidas y tan resplandecientes como las tuyas?

Benditas mil veces las manos de aquel Dios que supo unir en tu belleza peregrina con tal pureza

exaltada. Y gala tan brillante y rica con humildad tan apacible.

Yo quedo, Señora, absorto de belleza tan amable y quisiera que mis ojos se fijaran eternamente en tí para que mi corazón no se dejara arrastrar en otro

afecto. No podré logar este deseo si esos resplandecientes asiros de que estas adornada, no

sparkles of such lucid and radiant virtues as yours? A thousand times blessed are the hands of God who knew how to unite in you such beauty with exalted

purity and such brilliant and rich elegance with such placid humility.

I remain, my Lady, absorbed in your beauty. I would like my eyes to be fixed eternally on you so that my heart would not allow itself to be swept by another affection. I will not be able to achieve this desire if

such radiant pendants of which you are adorned, do not infuse in me an ardent and fervent charity, with which I will love God and you with all my heart and

with all my strength, and as my sole reason and end. Amen.

you were full of grace! Have mercy on me, loving and tender Mother, as I am like the moon under your feet, always firm in your

devotion and love. May I not suffer the ebbing of sin and guilt. Instead, may I do my best in all my obligations, rejecting

everything that could offend God. Amen.

Día Séptimo Oración ¡Santísima Virgen María de Guadalupe! Nada veo en ésta hermosísima imagen que no me lleve a conocer las altas perfecciones de que dotó el Señor a tu alma inocentísima. Este modesto lienzo, este pobre pero

feliz ayate en que se estampó tu singular belleza, da a conocer la profundísima humildad que le sirvió de

fundamento a tu asombrosa santidad. No desdeñaste la pobre tilma de Juan Diego para que en ella se estampase tu Imagen, que es encanto de

los ángeles, hechizo de hombres y mujeres, y admiración de todo el universo. Por eso, ¿cómo no

he de esperar de tu benignidad que la pobreza de mi alma no sea obstáculo para que albergues en ella

tu imagen graciosísima? Yo te lo pido Señora, y para eso te ofrezco mi corazón. Tómalo Señora en tus

manos y no lo dejes jamás, pues es mi deseo que no se emplee en otra cosa sino en amarte y en amar a

Dios. Amén.

O Most Blessed Virgin Mary of Guadalupe! I see nothing in this most beautiful image that does not lead

me to know the graces with which the Lord has blessed your most innocent soul. This modest cloth,

this poor but happy "ayate" where your singular beauty was stamped, shows us the most profound humility which has served as a foundation for your

admirable sanctity. You did not disdain the poor "tilma" of Juan Diego, on which you placed your image which is the enchantment of the angels, the spell of men and women, and the admiration of the entire universe. For

that reason and your kindness, I can hope that the poverty of my soul will not be an obstacle for you to imprint your most gracious image. I ask you this, my Lady, and for this I offer you my heart. Take it, my

Lady, in your hands and don't ever abandon it. For it is my desire that my heart should not be occupied in other way but loving you and loving God. Amen.

imposible a tu poder, cuando multiplicando los prodigios, ni la pobreza ni la modestia del ayate le impidieron plasmar tan primorosamente tu Imagen,

que ni la voracidad del tiempo en más de quatro siglos ha sido capaz de destrozarle or borrarle?

¿Qué motivo más poderoso para alentar mi confianza y suplicarte que abriendo el seno de tus

piedades y acordándote del amplio poder que te dio la divina omnipotencia del Señor para favorecer a los mortales, te dignes estampar en mi alma la Imagen del Altísimo que ha de borrar mis culpas? No afecte

tu piedad la ofensa de mis malas costumbres; dígnate solo mirarme y con eso alentaré mis

esperanzas, porque si posas tus divinos ojos en mí, seguramente te condolerás de mi pena. Escucha mi

ruego Madrecita, porque mi única esperanza, después de Jesús, eres tú Sagrada Virgen María de

The Ninth Day Prayer

O Most Blessed Virgin of Guadalupe! When we count all the wonders, what is impossible for you? Neither

the poverty nor the insignificance of the "ayate" impeded your image from being so skillfully embodied,

nor have the ravages of time in more than four centuries been able to destroy or erase. What more

powerful reason to encourage my trust and plead you to open the bosom of your mercies, while

remembering the broad power that the divine omnipotence of the Lord gave you to favor mortals?

Deign to imprint in my soul the image of the Most High, which will erase my faults. Don't let my offenses and bad habits affect your compassion. Deign to only look at me and that will raise up my hopes, because if

you settle your divine eyes on me, surely you will sympathize with my pain. Hear my petition, Mother, because my only hope after Jesus, is in you Holy

Virgin Mary of Guadalupe. Amen.
