Note from the Pastor: I know that for all of us as a community, we have been facing difficulties because of Hurricane Harvey. The first thing that has been in my heart and in my prayers is you and your families. We have been trying to help each other in the recovery process. If you still need help, don't hesitate to contact me in order to try to find ways we can assist each other. As you know, our home parish is damaged. As we are finding ways to help each other, it is imperative that we help our home church. The procedures are too complicated for us to do the repairs ourselves. Our roof was leaking before the storm and this complicates the claim with the insurance. We cannot use the church because of the mold and toxins in the air. I appreciate everyone’s understanding about this situation. Its not just to understand and accommodate we need to go a step further. Instead of giving advice and opinions, I am inviting everyone to use their hands, working together as a community in order to raise money. I am offering you very clearly the ways that we can be successful in fundraising. 1. Asking for donations in person or online at

www.mtcarmelalive.org 2. Being active with the Sunday breakfasts (if you

would like to cook a Sunday breakfast, you can be put on the schedule)

3. Selling your raffle tickets. If we sell all the raffle tickets, we can raise $160,000!

4. We are putting together a cook off contest on November 4th and a Festival on November 5th. I am thinking that if we work together we can raise $50,000.

Nota del Pastor: Sé que todos nosotros como comunidad, hemos tenido dificultades debido al huracán Harvey. Lo primero que he tenido en mi corazón y en mis oraciones es a ustedes y sus familias. Hemos estado tratando de ayudarnos mutuamente en el proceso de recuperación. Si todavía necesitan ayuda, no duden en ponerse en contacto conmigo para tratar de encontrar maneras de ayudarlos. Como saben, nuestra parroquia esta dañada. Como estamos encontrando maneras de ayudarnos mutuamente, es imperativo que ayudemos a nuestra iglesia. Los procedimientos son demasiado complicados para que podamos hacer las reparaciones nosotros mismos. Nuestro techo estaba goteando antes de la tormenta y esto complica la reclamación con el seguro. No podemos usar la iglesia debido al moho y a las toxinas en el aire. Aprecio la comprensión de todos sobre esta situación. No es sólo entender y aceptar tenemos que ir un paso más allá. En lugar de dar consejos y opiniones, invito a todos a usar sus manos trabajando juntos como comunidad con el fin de recaudar dinero. Les estoy ofreciendo muy claramente las formas en que podemos tener éxito en la recaudación de fondos. 1. Pedir donaciones en persona o en línea a www.mtcarmelalive.org 2. estar activo con los desayunos del domingo (si te gustaría cocinar un desayuno de domingo, se puede poner en el calendario) 3. Preparing for Next Sunday

27th Sunday in Ordinary Time Isaiah uses the beautiful image of the vineyard in describing the people of Israel. It takes work to have a good harvest, just as it takes work to remain faithful to the Lord. In the second reading, Saint Paul encourages us to turn our anxieties over to the God of peace. In the Gospel, Jesus also uses the image of the vineyard, saying that the vineyard - the kingdom of God - is for those who will produce its fruit.

Our girls visited I n c a r n a t e W o r d Academy and our boys visited St. Thomas High Schoo l . As a community, please have our 8th grade Crusaders in your prayers for their discernment. We believe God has the perfect High School for them. Together in prayer for the future.
