Auxiliares Modales

Los auxiliares modales varían el significado de los verbos a los cuales acompañan y reflejan la disposición o actitud del que habla, expresando ideas de habilidad, posibilidad, probabilidad, obligación, necesidad, aprobación y conveniencia.

Los auxiliares modales no cambian de forma.

Los verbos que siguen a los auxiliares modales van en su forma base (no toman ninguna marca de tiempo).

Los auxiliares modales no tienen forma pasada, a excepción de COULD y WOULD, que funcionan como formas pasadas para CAN y WILL, respectivamente.

Estructura Afirmativa:Sujeto + Auxiliar Modal + Verbo Principal + (C/O/A)1

Estructura Negativa:Sujeto + Auxiliar Modal + NOT + Verbo Principal + (C/O/A) en su Forma Base

Even if I work hard, I might notnot finish on time!(¡Aún si trabajo duro, no podría terminar a tiempo!)

Might I sleep on that couch?(¿Podría dormir en ese sofá?)

Auxiliares Modales:Expresando Probabilidad

People must take care of the environment.(La gente debe cuidar el medio ambiente.)

You must notnot smoke here.(No debe fumar aquí.)

Must I do the test now? (¿Debo hacer el examen ahora?)

Auxiliares Modales:Expresando Fuerte Obligación,Prohibición, Necesidad

She should go on a diet!(¡Ella debería ponerse a dieta!)

I should notnot go out in the morning.(Yo no debería salir en la mañana.)

Auxiliares Modales:Expresando Sugerencia, Consejo

We will go to a restaurant tonight.(Iremos a un restaurante esta noche.)

It will notnot rain today.(No lloverá hoy.)

Coloque el Auxiliar Modal apropiado en el espacio en blanco para completar la oración y darle sentido. Tenga en cuenta el contexto.
