Introduction with Sri Ramakrishna :- Ramakrishna more well known as

paramahansa-had already become ahousehold name in calcutta.PrincipleHastie advice Narendranath to met withSri Ramakrishna at Dakshineswar.

According to Narendranath in his first

visit-"He [Ramakrishna] looked just like an

ordinary man, with nothing remarkableabout him. He used the most simplelanguage and I thought 'Can this man be agreat teacher?' I crept near to him andasked him the question which I had been

asking others all my life: 'Do you believe inGod, Sir?' 'Yes,' he replied. 'Can you proveit, Sir?' 'Yes.' 'How?' 'Because I see Himjust as I see you here, only in a muchintenser sense.' That impressed me atonce. [] I began to go to that man, dayafter day.

    Ramakrishna:As a guru of Narendranath:-

Though Narendra could not acceptRamakrishna and his visions, he could not

neglect him either. It had always been inNarendra's nature to test something

thoroughly before he would accept it.

He tested Ramakrishna, who never asked

Narendra to abandon reason, and faced allof Narendra's arguments and examinationswith patience"Try to see the truth from allangles" was his reply.[

During the course of five years of histraining under Ramakrishna, Narendra was

transformed from a restless, puzzled, impatient youth to a mature man who was

ready to renounce everything for the sake ofGod-realization.

In time, Narendra accepted Ramakrishna, and when he accepted, his acceptance was

    whole-hearted.[34]

Teachings &Philosophy:- All power is within you. You can do anything and

everything. Believe in that. Do not believe that you are

weak; do not believe that you are half-crazy lunatics, asmost of us do nowadays. Stand up and express thedivinity within you.

Always discriminate--your body, your house, the peopleand the world are all absolutely unreal like a dream.

Always think that the body is only an inert instrument.

And the Atman within is your real nature.

Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life--think of

it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and

just leave every other idea alone. This is the way tosuccess, and this is the way great spiritual giants are

produced. Others are mere talking machines.

Work unto deathI am with you, and when I am gone,

my spirit will work with you. This life comes and goeswealth, fame, enjoyments are only of a few days. It is

better, far better, to die on the field of duty, preachingthe truth, than to die like a worldly worm.

Comments on Vivekananda:- I cannot touch these sayings of his, scattered as they

are through the pages of books, at thirty years'

distance, without receiving a thrill through my bodylike an electric shock. And what shocks, whattransports, must have been produced when in burningwords they issued from the lips of the hero!

    - Romain Rolland

"Swami Vivekananda's writings need no introductionfrom anybody. They make their own irresistibleappeal.

    - Mahatma Gandhi

"If you want to know India, study Vivekananda. In himeverything is positive and nothing negative."

    -RabindranathTagore

"Behold, Vivekananda still lives in the soul of hisMother and in the souls of her children.

Vivekananda:Science&Religion:- In his book Raja Yoga, Vivekananda explores traditional

views on the supernatural and the belief that the

practice of Raja Yoga can confer psychic powers such as'controlling all the forces of nature .

However, Vivekananda takes a skeptical approach and in

    the same book states:

Each soul is potentially divine,The goal is to manifestthis divinity within,by controlling nature, external &Internal.Do This, either by work or worship or psychiccontrol or philosophy-by one or more or all of these and

be free. This is the whole religion.Doctrines,or dogmas orrituals or books or templetes or froms are but secondary

    details.

The great electrical engineer, Nikola Tesla, after listeningto Vivekananda's speech on Sankhya Philosophy, wasmuch interested in its cosmogony and its rational

theories of the Kalpas (cycles), Prana and Akasha. Hisnotion based on the vedanta led him to think that

matter is a manifestation of energy . Later he couldprove that mass can be reduced to potential energy

    mathematically.

Completes works of Vivekananda: Vivekananda left a body of philosophical works

(see Vivekananda's complete works) which Vedic

scholar Frank Parlato has called, "the greatestcomprehensive work in philosophy everpublished." His books (compiled from lecturesgiven around the world) on the four Yogas(RajaYoga, Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Jnana Yoga) arevery influential and still seen as fundamentaltexts for anyone interested in the Hindu practiceofYoga .

His letters are of great literary and spiritual value. He was also considered a very good singer and apoet. By He had composed many songs including

his favorite Kali the Mother. He used humor forhis teachings and was also an excellent cook. Hislanguage is very free flowing. His own Bengaliwritings stand testimony to the fact that hebelieved that words - spoken or written should befor making things easier to understand ratherthan show off the speaker or writer's knowledge.

    Conclution:-
