Background

to provide opportunity for pre-service student teachers among universities in Southeast Asia to do their practicum (teaching experiences) in schools in other countries in Southeast Asia.

Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in

Southeast Asia

- Purchase insurance in advance for students.- Ex. affordable price is available via Bupa

Insurance which cover international travel - Students themselves have to take care of this –

just in case sickness during the practicum period.

- Students should aware and prepare for the circumstances where English is not well-spoken

- Ex. in teaching and in communicating with the students.

Barrier

- Students should be informed to be responsible to prepare their own personal medicine just in case they are sick during the practicum period.

- Can be included in the Orientation prior to travel.

Students should be flexible and learn how to problem solve concerning food and pray time adjustment.

- Prepare lesson plans in advance prior to travel.- Adjust later after classroom observation. This

way, the students will have enough materials and document that they can use to suit the teaching.

There is a need to strengthen the role of Mentor, so that the students have opportunity to improve and learn.

- Update on the progress and it will help on the coordination between and among all parties.
