Due to the growing consumer interest in consumption of fresh products with extendedshelf life and controlled quality, manufacturers have to provide modern and safe packaging. It is a challenge forthe food packaging industry and also acts as a driving force for the development of new and improvedconcepts of technology packaging.

Interesterificación enzimática de aceite de coco y aceite degirasol alto oleico para aplicación en films comestiblesPublicada el 03/03/2017
Blends [60:40, 70:30, and 80:20 (w/w)] of coconut oil (CO) and high oleic sunflower oil (HOSO) wereinteresterified using immobilized enzyme, Lipozyme® TL IM (Novozymes North America Inc., Franklinton, NC,USA). The structured lipids (SLs), referred to as interesterified products (IPs) IP60:40, IP70:30, and IP80:20,were compared to CO and HOSO for application in edible films.

Nanotechnology promises manyinteresting changes for a better life, such as to improve health, wealth, products and quality of life, as well asreducing impact on the environment. Food nano-packaging is, however, still poorly developed despite severalpotentials to improve packaging materials and functions.

Abstract Chitosan films (CF) [1 and 2% w/v] alone and with cinnamaldehyde (CNE) [0.25, 0.5 and 1% v/v] wereprepared using an emulsion method, and the obtained films were characterized in terms of water vaporpermeability (WVP), water solubility and optical, mechanical and antioxidant properties. The incorporation ofCNE at 1% (v/v) significantly decreased the water solubility of the film by approximately 4% for the 1 and 2%CF films, whereas the WVP increased (2.5–3.5 times).

In this study, 10 wt% sugarcane bagasse fiber-reinforced starch foam composites were prepared with differentoregano essential oil (OEO) contents in the range of 2–8 wt% to improve the antimicrobial effectiveness ofbioactive packaging. FT-IR analysis confirms that OEO penetrates into starch foam composite.

In this study, Chitosan–green tea extract composite film was synthesized by a simple one-pot procedure andwas ably characterized using XRD, FTIR, SEM, etc. The influence of noted factors such as water content,water solubility, water vapour transmission rate, contact angle and thermal stability was investigated in detail.

A food container (e.g., tray) with a thermal reagent adhesively attached toits outer surfaces reacts with water. The attached reagent undergoes anendothermic (i.e., cooling) or exeothermic (i.e., heating) reaction in thepresence of water. A burstable water pouch releases water for the reactioninto a lower container (e.g., tray) when the food container is pressed intothe lower container, with the pouch therebetween.
