Possessive ‘s Singular John’s calculator is Japanese La ‘s de darrera el nom propi indica possessió en singular. La seva traducció al català és:

La caculadora d’en John és Japonesa. Per tant, l’ordre de les paraules no es correspon en les dues llengües. L’ordre del possessiu singular en anglès és: 1.persona que posseeix 2. ‘s 3. cosa o persona posseïda

Tina ‘s mother is a teacher John i Tina són dos noms propis en singular. Plural Quan els noms (posseïdors) són en plural (la majoria acabats amb –s) només es marcarà amb un apòstrof (´) darrera el substantiu plural.
