The Foundation for National Scientific Computing (FCCN) was founded in 1986 as a private foundation by the National Board of Scientific and Technological Research (JNICT), the National Laboratory of Civil Engineering (LNEC), the National Institute of Scientific Research (INIC) and the Council of Rectors of Portuguese Universities (CRUP). INIC was integrated into the JNICT, which in 1997 gave rise to the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). In 2013, the FCCN was integrated into the FCT by a governmental decision, renaming it the Unit for National Scientific Computation (UCCN). FCT-UCCN's main mission is the planning and management of the Science, Technology and Society Network (RCTS), a digital research infrastructure that covers all areas of knowledge and covers the entire national territory.

Dear user,

CIÊNCIAVITAE is a platform that allows you to create, generate and promote

your curriculum vitae in a quick and easy way.

To assist you in the creation process the platform offers you a guide, the “Import

Wizard”, which helps you to speed up the completion of your curriculum by

reusing existing information on other national/international platforms.

You will have immediate access to this tool upon registration. In the following

accesses this guide will be available on the main menu of your CIÊNCIAVITAE

account.

The platform CIÊNCIAVITAE is developed and managed by the Foundation for

Science and Technology (FCT).

Registration CIÊNCIAVITAE

1. Go to www.cienciavitae.pt;

2. Click on “Create your account”;

You will be redirected to the CIÊNCIA ID platform, where you should follow the

instructions to complete your registration

3. In “Step 1 of 3”, tick the check-box and click “Confirm”;

4. In “Step 2 of 3”:

Import DeGóis

DeGóis platform is a curriculum management platform. The information imported from this

platform will auto-populate all the functional areas available on CIÊNCIAVITAE. Integration

with this platform results in the importation of about 99% available, so this step is necessary

only once; which is way you cannot do it again.

a. Click on “Import account”;

b. Enter your access credentials “Connect to DeGóis”.

Import FCT|SIGcv

Similar to DeGóis platform, the FCT | SIG CV platform is a curriculum management platform.

However, because its structure enables the introduction of free text content, the import of

structured data from this platform is limited. Thus, all information imported into the

functional areas Projects, Outputs, Activities, Knowledge Fields and Resume is available in a

post-it format:

a. Click on “Import data”;

b. Enter your “FCT SIG-CV user”;

c. Click on “Confirm”;

If the e-mail address with which you registered your CIÊNCIA ID does not

correspond to the e-mail address associated with your FCT | SIG CV, you will be

asked to provide additional information to validate your identity:

d. Click on “Confirm”;

a. Select the information you would like to import

b. Click on “Import Education”;

c. Please correct or fill in the missing information;

d. Click on “Import Education”;

e. Click on “Finish and Proceed”.

You can also import data from the areas: Contacts, Knowledge Fields, Languages, Affiliation,

Projects, Outputs, Activities, Distinctions and Resume.

ORCiD Synchronization

Ther ORCiD importer is also a management platform. However, its integration with

CIÊNCIAVITAE platform is based on a bidirectional information exchange - synchronization.

You can find out more in the FAQs available on the platform.

a. Click on “Synchronize data”;

b. Select the “Sign In” option in the pop-up window;

c. Enter your access credentials;

d. Click on “Sign into ORCiD”;

Projects Functional Area (eg)

a. Select the projects you would like to synchronize;

b. Click on “Synchronize”;

c. Click on “Finish and Proceed”.

For the moment, the CIÊNCIAVITAE↔ORCiD synchronization occurs only in the functional

areas Projects (exemplified) and Productions.

5. In “Step 3 of 3”:

b. Choose “Search criteria”;

c. Under “Text to search”, you may change the name;

d. Click on “Search”;

e. Select the productions you would like to import;

f. Click on “Import”;

g. Click on “Finish and Proceed”.

b. Choose “Search for”;

c. Under “Name to search”, you may change the name;

d. Click on “Search”;

e. Select the information you would like to import;

f. Click on “Continue”;

g. Click on “Import”;

h. Click on “Return”;

i. Click on on “Finish and Proceed”.

b. Choose “Search for”;

c. Choose “Search criteria”;

d. Under “Text to search”, you may change the name;

e. Click on “Search”;

f. Select the information you would like to import;

g. Click on “Continue”;

h. Click on “Import”;

i. Click on “Return”;

j. Click on “Finish and Proceed”.

6. Click, one more time, on “Finish and Proceed”;

Export CIÊNCIAVITAE

All records of your CV will be exported, regardless of the level of privacy

(Public, Semi-public and Private).

7. Click on the options icon available in the upper right-hand corner;

8. In the drop-down menu, select “Export curriculum”

9. Choose “Export format”;

10. Choose “Curriculum model”;

11. Choose “Period”;

12. Choose “Order of presentation”;

13. Navigate through the Functional Areas and uncheck the items you do not

want to export;

14. Click on “Export”;

The file, with the title of your CIÊNCIA ID identifier, will appear in the download bar of your

browser.

Publication of CIÊNCIAVITAE

Only the "Public" privacy level registrations will be published.

15. Click on “Unpublished”, available in the upper right-hand corner;;

16. Click on “Confirm”;

Search CVs

As previously mentioned, only the "Public" privacy level registrations will be

made available to the remaining users of the platform.

17. Go to www.cienciavitae.pt;

18. Click on “Find CVs”, available in the upper right-hand corner;

19. Under “Researcher name”, type the name to search;

20. Click on “Search”;

21. Select the CV by clicking on “View curriculum”.
