Este tiempo verbal se emplea para hablar de acciones que estaban ocurriendo en un momento en el pasado. Observa las imágenes y responde el ejercicio de “verdadero o Falso” “Que estaban haciendo los personajes en el Parque ayer a las 5 pm?

El Pasado Continuo también llamado Pasado progresivo se forma con el verbo To be ( was- were) más un verbo en gerundio, es decir con terminación ING : dancing, running, working…

Here's the positive form:

Next, here's the negative - it's very easy, just add 'not':

Ahora, cuando una de estas acciones es interrumpida por otra acción se usa otro tiempo verbal llamado pasado simple. (simple past) ejemplo.

a. I was sleeping when the telephone rang. (rang es el pasado de ring (sonar))Yo estaba durmiendo -----------es interrumpida por------ cuando el teléfono sonó.

b. Lucy was dancing when her father arrived. (arrived es el pasado de arrive (llegar))Lucy estaba bailando ------ acción interrumpida por ----- cuando mi padre llegó.

c. The students were fighting when the teacher entered to the classroom.Los estudiantes estaban peleando -----acción interrumpida por---- cuando la profesora entró a la sala.

El orden puede ser también : when the telephone rang I was sleeping. When her father arrived Lucy was dancing. When the teacher entered to the classroom the students were fighting..
