What to expect of Cub Scouting?(¿Qué esperar de Cub Scouting?)

• Outdoor Activities (Actividades al aire libre)– Off electronics and get outside!

• Observing the night sky, planning a vegetable garden, going through a fitness course! Day camps and sleepaway camps!

• Try New Things (Probar cosas nuevas)– Learn to love new activities: collecting, building a robot, art, magic tricks. The

new activities don’t end!• Important Skills (Habilidades importantes)

– Reading a map, using tools and basic first aid!• How to Set and Achieve Goals (Cómo establecer y alcanzar metas)

– Physical, nutritional and fiscal goals are part of several years’ programs• Character Development (Desarrollo de personaje)

– Scout activities are above all specifically designed to teach good character including empathy for people with disabilities, service projects and polite and respectful language

Scout Law (Ley Scout)• A Scout is trustworthy, loyal,

helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.

Scout Oath (Juramento Scout)• On my honor, I will do my best to do

How Does Cub Scouting Work? (¿Cómo funciona Cub Scouting?)

DensA small group of Cub Scouts who are the same gender and in the same grade. The ideal size is 6 to 8 Cub Scouts. (Un pequeño grupo de Cub Scouts que son del mismo sexo y del mismo grado. El tamaño ideal es de 6 a 8 Cub Scouts.)

Pack MeetingsGroups of Dens, grades K-5, get together for larger activities(Grupos de dens, grados K-5, se reúnenpara actividades más grandes)

AdvancementA Cub Scout progresses towards a badge of rank based on their grade. (Un Cub Scout avanza hacia una insignia de rango según su grado.)

Ranks are age appropriate so there is no need to earn the previous rank in order to earn the next.(Los rangos son apropiados para la edad, por lo que no es necesario obtener el rango anterior para obtener el siguiente.)

The pack committee is made up of a committee chair, and at least two committee members. (El comité de manada está compuesto por un presidente del comité y al menos dos miembros del comité.)Together, this group:• Plans Pack events (Eventos del paquete de planes)

• Pinewood derby/rain gutter regatta• Popcorn sales• Outings/Community service

• Recruits new adults and recommends adults for various leadership positions• Fills necessary positions, including: (Recluta nuevos adultos)

• Treasurer• Advancement Chair• Activities/Camping Chair• Training Chair• Membership Chair• New member coordinator

What does a Den Leader do?¿Qué hace un líder del den?

• Works directly with other den leaders and parents to ensure the den is active• Plan, prepare for, and conduct 1 – 2 den meetings/month• ScoutBook has an app for this! Den Leader Experience will guide you every

step of the way from start to finish• Assist the Cubmaster at monthly pack meetings• Ensure scouts are advancing in the program and aid them in the transition to

the next rank• Most of all, HAVE FUN!!• Trabaja directamente con otros líderes y padres del den para garantizar que el den esté
