El verbo There is/ are.

Life in the Outback:

Life is very difficult in the Australian outback, it is anarea of2,500,000squarekilometres inthe centre ofAustralia; it isvery hot(temperaturesare usually over30ºC insummer) and
there are no facilities around; people live instations (country houses or cattle farms)very far away from any small town. Life in asheep station is very different from life in a town or in a city; they look after thecattle and sometimes they travel some hundreds of kilometres a day looking fortheir food. There is only one big town in the Outback, it is called Alice Springs. Itis in the centre of the Australian Outback. The outback is not an empty place; lotsof people and animals wander around the plains and hills. The Aborigines livein the Outback and they think it is the most wonderful place in the world to live, but just try and spend a week out there and you will realize the type of life youcan have there.
an + nombre singular que comience por vocal: an elephant
a big house
an interesting place
There is only one big town in the Outback(Sólo hay una ciudad grande en el Outback)
There is a train station in this street.(Hay una estación de tren en esta calle)
There are hundreds of places to visit.(Hay cientos de sitios para visitar)
There are some parks in my town.(Hay muchos parques en mi ciudad)
