IMPORTANT: This operation to be conducted byqualified personnel only.
To view the burner flame, remove the lower front panelof the dryer.
Close the loading door, start the dryer in a heat setting(refer to the Operating Instructions supplied with thedryer); the dryer will start, the igniter will glow red andthe main burner will ignite.
IMPORTANT: If all air is not purged out of gasline, gas igniter may go off before gas is ignited. Ifthis happens, after approximately one minuteigniter will again attempt gas ignition.
IMPORTANT: If burner does not light, make suregas is turned on.
After the dryer has operated for approximately fiveminutes, observe burner flame through lower frontpanel. Adjust the air shutter to obtain a soft, uniformblue flame. (A lazy, yellow tipped flame indicates lackof air. A harsh, roaring, very blue flame indicates too
much air.) Adjust the air shutter as follows: (SeeFigure 1 .)
a. Loosen the air shutter lockscrew.
b. Turn the air shutter to the left to get a luminousyellow-tipped flame, then turn it back slowly to theright to obtain a steady, soft blue flame.
c. After the air shutter is adjusted for proper flame, tighten the air shutter lockscrew securely.
d. Reinstall the lower front panel.
After the dryer has operated for approximately threeminutes, exhaust air or exhaust pipe should be warm.

The weather hoodshould be checked frequently to make sure the dampersmove freely, dampers are not pushed in and thatnothing has been set against them. This maintenance
work should be done by a qualified service person.
Exhausting the dryer in hard-to-reach locations can beaccomplished by installing the 521P3 Flexible MetalVent Kit, available as optional equipment at extra cost. The kit comes in two halves that can be separatelyattached to the dryer and wall outlet. Once attached, thedryer can be slid back into position and the two halvescan be connected from the front.
Dryer Airflow
Efficient dryer operation requires proper dryer airflow.Proper dryer airflow can be evaluated by measuring thestatic pressure.
Static pressure in the dryer s exhaust duct should be nogreater than that shown in the illustration below.(Check with dryer running and no load.)
NOTE: This can be measured with a manometerplaced on the exhaust duct approximately 610 mm(2) from the dryer, see illustration below.
To reduce the risk of electric shock, disconnect the electrical service to thedryer before cleaning.
