From the Pastor’s Desk Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Congratulations to Carlos L. Alvarado! On April 08, Most Rev. Andrew P. Wypych, will preside at the Rite of Institution into the Ministry of Reader and welcome him into that ministry at the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception, University of Saint Mary of the Lake in Mundelein. He is part of a cohort of 27 candidates who will
become instituted Readers.
At the institution, Bishop Wypych will charge that Carlos be faithful in handing on the Word of God so that it may grow strong in the hearts of His people. Additionally,
being an instituted Reader also means “taking on a special office within the Christian community.” Besides proclaiming the word in the liturgical assembly, an
instituted Reader is responsible for:
* instructing children and adults in the faith; * preparing them to receive the sacraments worthily;
* bringing the message of salvation to those who have not yet received it.
This is an awesome responsibility. But it is part of the continuing discernment process as Carlos L. Alvarado moves forward on his journey in formation and
listens to God’s plan for him in future ministry.
During formation this year, Carlos is attending academic courses in Church History, Old Testament, New Testament, Ecclesiology & Mariology, Spiritual
Theology, Christian Anthropology, and Worship and Liturgical Music. He also participated in a weekend retreat and will attend a candidates-only retreat prior to his institution as Reader. Additionally, elements of his formation include a Service to Charity field education experience, completed last summer; and this year he is
engaged in Service to the Word field education. He attends monthly spiritual direction and is present for numerous formation sessions as he continues his
journey on the Candidate Path toward the Order of Deacon.
Presently, there are about 500 active deacons in the Archdiocese of Chicago, with 60 men currently in the Institute for Diaconal Studies.
Please keep in your prayers Carlos L. Alvarado, all candidates who will be instituted as Readers, their wives and families, and all candidates in formation, that they might continue to answer God’s call to serve His Church. Thank you!

Del Escritorio del PárrocoEstimados Hermanos/as en Cristo,
¡Felicidades a Carlos L. Alvarado!
* instruir a niños y adultos en la fe; * prepararlos para recibir los sacramentos dignamente;
* llevando el mensaje de salvación a aquellos que aún no lo recibieron.
rostro, no me quites tu santo espiritu.

SAVED BY GOD’S LOVEBecause the people broke the old covenant, God
promised a new covenant, not in the blood of oxen and other animals, but in the blood of the Son, Jesus Christ. This new
covenant, foreseen from afar by Jeremiah and the prophets, was not to be engraved on stone, or written on paper, but carved on
our hearts, so that we might know God intimately. Not by keeping many laws are we to be saved, but by the love of God, living and
real in our hearts through the sacrifice of Christ.
Our Eucharist is the pledge of that indwelling of Christ, and of our response of praise and thanksgiving to God for the mercy, love,
and kindness shown to us in forgiving our sins and cleansing our hearts of everything evil. God issues this invitation to intimacy by offering us the chance to have our sufferings transformed into the
perfect love of the Savior, who first loved us.
Good Friday, March 30th
We warmly invite all members of St. Turibius to join us at 8:45am at Daley Plaza(Dearborn/Washington). We will then cross the Chicago River over the Michigan Avenue Bridge and conclude at Holy Name Cathedral around 12:00pm, stopping for meditations along the route.

Christ became obedient to the point of death, even death on the cross. Because of this, God greatly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name.

We Are One Family, Encircled by God’s Love!
Saint Turibius Parish
Parish Mission Statement
We Believe that God is Love, and when we live in love we live in God and God lives in
us! Therefore we, the Parish Family of Saint Turibius, dedicate ourselves to living out
Christ’s Great Commandment: we will love the Lord our God with all our heart, with all our soul, with all our mind, and with all our strength, and we will show our love for God
by the way we love and care for one another. To this end, we will respond to our baptismal
call, strengthened by the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and empowered by
the Holy Spirit. As a Family of Faith that has an Attitude of Gratitude for the gifts God has given to us, we will share our time, our talent
and our treasure with each other. We welcome into our parish family all people, because we
believe that together we are the Body of Christ and together we can bring the love, peace,
forgiveness, healing, and joy of Christ into our community in ways we never could have if we were to remain apart. May all who meet us, who worship with us, who work and play with
us, know we are Christians by our love!
