In 2016 the demand for natural gas increased by 2.1% due to the increase in residential (+3.5%) and industrial (+3.2%) con-sumption. With 321,487 GWh (27.5 bcm), the rise of power generation in autumn and the low wind and hydraulic power production explain an annual increase that has not been seen consecutively since 2008. The natural gas demand for vehicles raised +45% (1,757.17 GWh) according to Gasnam.

GAS GARANTIZADO DESDE 10 ORÍGENES GAS GUARANTEED FROM 10 SOURCES
Spain maintains a high level of security of supply, receiving nat-ural gas from 10 different sources. Of the gas supplied, 58% comes through pipelines while the remaining 42% comes as LNG, which is transported through tank ships that offload it at one of the 6 operating regasification plants. With respect to distribution from sources, the increase in gas from Nigeria stands out. It now represents 14.7% of the total natural gas, compared to 12% in 2015.
