OPERADOR NORMAL
1. DEFINICIÓN Sea V un espacio con producto interno y sea T: V → V un operador lineal. Se dice que T es normal si T ○ T* = T*○ T.
De esta definición decimos que si T es normal T* también es normal y viceversa.
PROPIEDADES DE LOS OPERADORES NORMALES
2. TEOREMASea un espacio con producto interno y sea T: V → V un operador normal:
i. ║ T( )║ = ║ T*( )║, Vii. Si T( ) = λ entonces T*( ) = iii. Si 1, 2 son vectores característicos de T correspondientes a los
valores λ1, λ2 y λ1 ≠ λ2, entonces ( 1│ 2) = 0

De donde║ T ( ) ║ = ║ T*( ) ║
Es decir, las imágenes asignadas a un vector cualquiera por un operador normal y su adjunto “tienen el mismo tamaño”.
ii. Primero demostraremos que T – I es un operador normal para cualquier escalar .
Por teorema 7 y tomando en cuenta que I* = I se tiene
(T – I)* = T* - I
Entonces, por las propiedades del álgebra de transformaciones se tiene que.
(T – I) ○ (T – I)* = (T – I) ○ (T* – I) (T – I) ○ (T – I)* = (T ○ T* - T* - T + I)
Y también que:
(T – I)* ○ (T – I) = (T* - I) ○ (T – I)
(T – I)* ○ (T – I) = T* ○ T - T - T* + I)
Como T es normal T ○ T* = T* ○ T, por lo que:
(T – I) ○ (T – I)* = (T- I)* ○ (T – I)
Y T – I es normal.
