3. Installation and Wiring

2. OverviewThe Electro-pneumatic Converter EN40 converts current input

signals into pneumatic signals. It is designed to provide high

accuracy, output pressure and excellent response.

3.1 Precautions on installation

[1] The EN40 can be mounted on a wall, floor, or manifold.

[2] Install the EN40 at a place free of vibration.

[3] Install the EN40 vertically.

[4] Refer to Figure 10.1 External dimensions for mounting the

EN40 on a manifold.

3.2 Pneumatic piping

[1] Be sure to use a filter and mist separator to prevent dust, water

and oil because the EN40 Electro-pneumatic Converter is

equipped with a precision pneumatic circuit.

[2] Refer to Figures 3.2 and 3.3 for the system configuration inapplications where an oiler is needed to the operational

controlling element or not.

[3] The standard specifications of the air pipes are as follows:

Supply pipe (IN) : More than 4mm in inner diameter

Output pipe (OUT) : Less thanφ6 x φ4 x 10 m

3.3 Electrical wiring

Open the cover and remove

plate. Connect the cables fro

input signals to the positive (+

Wear appropriate working clothes for safety.

Take necessary safety measures before startingwork so that the line and the units will not moveaccidentally while you are working.

Note

It is difficult to adjust the span if a constant-voltage output amplifier is used. Be sure to

use a constant-current output amplifier. As shown in Figure 4.3, the indicated value of

the ammeter does not change even when making span adjustment.

4.3 Range of zero adjustment

The zero adjustment is made in the following rang.

4.4 Variation in supply pressure

The supply pressure is adjusted as shown in the table below. If

another supply pressure is used, the zero point changes slightly (thespan does not change).

Therefore make zero adjustment again according to section 4.1.

4.2 Span adjustment (SPAN)

Open the cover and make span adjustment using a small keystone-

tipped screwdriver.

Turning clockwise increases pressure. Make span adjustment twice

or three times on the full-scale because the zero point changes

when the span is adjusted.
