The cap beam works are performed by a total independent team on the trestle bridge from

the middle of month 6 in the support number 1, until month 14 in the support number 30.

After the pile team has reached the working platform, it will be diverted to the left side dolphins

making the following sequence:

Working platform & dolphins

Breasting Dolphin #1

Catwalk Pier #2

Mooring Dolphin #2

Catwalk Pier #1

Mooring Dolphin #1

After this, the team will then perform the right side of dolphins with the following progression

order:

Breasting Dolphin #2

Catwalk Pier #3

Mooring Dolphin #3

Catwalk Pier #4

Mooring Dolphin #4

The pile works will end at month 15, and at this moment, the platforms deck will also be in an

advanced stage of construction.

Example of working platform

The concrete deck at the working platform and dolphins will be performed in two main stages.

The first one corresponds to the pouring the lower part (approximately 50 cm) of the deck

slab. After the curing period, it is then poured the remaining thickness of each slab.

Two independent teams will be on-site working at same time. The first team will work at the

working platform and the second exclusively on the dolphins platform.

Before the commencement of the concrete works, it is necessary to install a temporary

structure that will support the formwork in place, providing a suitable platform to carry out the

works. This platform will be hanged from a steel frame that will be embedded, afterwards, in

the concrete deck structure. From this steel frame, which connects several pile heads, it is

hanged the temporary falsework where will be installed the formwork.

It is important that the system can be lifted or lowered easily to be capable of strip-off the

formwork and disassemble it quickly.

Lowering the temporary falsework after the execution of the deck

The construction sequence for the deck platforms on the dolphins will be the following:

With this sequence it is achieved the opportunity of building the dolphins to the outside

direction, providing (if necessary) access from the constructed ones. This is particularly

important during the pile works because the jack-up pontoon can navigate easily in the free

zones, without been closed between piles performed previously.
