To say the convention was successful would be like saying that the ocean is a puddle. It was an amazing time, filled with renewed friendships, new one’s forged. At least 20 of our greatest Champions gave up their time to visit the children at SHERO and the LV Boy’s and Girl’s Club. We all felt like winners! The WBC would like to declare this 2012, The Year of Peace and Friendship.Jill Diamond, Chair.

Let’s Feed The Hungry! An Invitation from Monique Rendón

5 years ago the Rendón Family of Tijuana , BC , Mexico took the initiative to make Christmas Eve a little better for the less fortunate. They wanted to make sure that people that do not have a roof over their heads and food on their table

have something to eat at during Christmas Eve. Since then, they prepare dinner and go out and find people living of the streets and feed them. The menu was simple, beans and beef burritos with a soda, yet it was greatly appreciated by the

ones receiving it. 175 homeless including children women and men received a warm meal on Saturday December 24th. It has been a very rewarding experience that brings the family together and it’s a great project for our young ones

to be a part of. We would like to invite you to join and create your own project in your community.

Hace 5 años la Familia Rendón de la ciudad de Tijuana, BC, México tomo la iniciativa de hacer la Nochebuena un poco mejor para los menos afortunados. El propósito era asegurarse que la gente que no tiene un techo, ni comida en su mesa recibiera algo de comer. Desde entonces, preparan cena y salen en la búsqueda de gente que vive en las calles y les hacen entrega de

una cena. El menú es básico, burritos de carne y frijoles con un refresco, pero muy bien recibido por la gente. El sábado 24 de diciembre, 175 personas de la calle recibieron una cena de Nochebuena. Es una bonita experiencia que une a la familia y un

buen proyecto para que los pequeños participen. Te invitamos a que te unas y formes tu propio proyecto en tu localidad.

On, Friday December 2nd, WBC Cares representatives met with students at Universidad Iberoamericana México. The meeting was proposed to show a new program made by the Design students about helping boxers. Most of the subjects presented are already being taken care of by the WBC Cares. This aspects include, bringing boxers to communities and teaching those in need some of the experiences that have help them become World Champions. They proposed a comic, with a lot of drawings and little text to give out to boxers and help them stay clean of addictions. They also presented different posters to prevent drugs and which may be hung up at gyms . José Manuel Rabanales and TortasBustos attended the exposition and invited all the present to a fight.

Students were very excited about having them at their school. The students did a great job planning their program and did a great work visiting gyms, fights and keeping contact with some boxers in order to plan everything with a clear vision. Their Design Project was great, but the aspects proposed were not new to the WBC Cares. I suggested we keep the comic and the poster which may help boxers live a healthier life.

El viernes 2 de diciembre, representantes de WBC se reunieron con estudiantes de la Universidad Iberoamericana de México. El motivo de la reunión fue para mostrar un nuevo programa diseñado por los estudiantes para ayudar a los boxeadores. La mayoría de los temas presentados ya han sido abordados por WBC Cares. Dentro de estos aspectos esta incluido el llevar a boxeadores a comunidades necesitadas y que ellos compartan sus experiencias de como han logrado ser campeones mundiales. Los estudiantes propusieron una historieta donde den a conocer a los boxeadores como pueden mantenerse limpios de adicciones. También presentaron diferentes carteles para la prevención del consumo de drogas y tal vez san presentados en los gimnasios . Jose Manuel Rabanales y Tortas Bustos asistieron a la exposición, invitando a todos los estudiantes presentes a una pelea, todos ellos muy emocionados por su presencia en su escuela.

Los estudiantes realizaron un gran trabajo, visitando gimnasios y planeando su programa, así como asistiendo a peleas y manteniendo el contacto con algunos boxeadores según lo planeado, todo con el fin de planear todo con una clara visión. El diseño de su programa fue bueno, pero los aspectos a tratar no son algo nuevo para WBC Cares. Sugiero que nos quedemos con la historieta y los carteles los cuales ayudarán a los boxeadores a llevar una vida más saludable.

"Comanche Boy" George Tahdooahnippahrecently attended the 2011 WBC Boxing Convention at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV, December 11-17. Tahdooahnippah (28-0-1), who holds the WBC Continental America's Middleweight title, received a Goodwill Ambassador Award from the WBC for his effort in helping others prevent and control diabetes.The award was presented to him by Barry Halbritter, from the Oneida Tribe and Turning Stone Resorts, a leader and activist for the rights of all Indigenous People.“I'm honored to be recognized,” Comanche Boy said. “I'm just doing my job as a health and fitness promoter of the Comanche Nation. Not only Native Americans, but all of us must continue to fight diabetes. I am humbled to be part of such an amazing event,” said Tahdooahnippah. The WBC recognized current and former champions at their 49th annual convention. “Everywhere around me was one of my idols in boxing,” he said. “I shared the floor with Mike Tyson, Oscar De Le Hoya, and Sergio Martinez. Being among such great fighters makes the burn to be a world champion that much stronger. Now I have to put in work!” Comanche Boy plans to return to the ring in early 2012.

“Comanche Boy” George Tahdooahnippah recientemente asistióa la convención de boxeo de WBC 2011 en el hotel y casino Mandalay Bay en Las Vegas, NV del 11 al 17 de Diciembre. Tahdooahnippah (28-0-1) quien sostiene el título Americano Continental de Peso Medio, recibió el premio al Embajador de la Buena Voluntad de parte del WBC por su esfuerzo en la ayuda de la prevención y control de la diabetes. Team Achieve Boxing

All participants of Team Achieve have renounced their gang affiliation and are working towards Spiritual, Academic , Personal and Athletic Goals. As a team member of Team Achieve, students must be enrolled in school or College and maintain a 2.5 GPA. In addition, students must maintain good academic attendance and can not partake in violence of any form. As we teach kids how to box we are teaching them the value of perseverance and hard work. Parents and teachers of Team Achieve students report significantimprovement in attendance, grades and attitudes. They believe in transforming lives through faith and education. Así como les enseñamos a los niños a boxear también les mostramos el valor de la perseverancia y el trabajo duro. Padres y

maestros reportan que los alumnos han mostrado una mejora importantemente significativa en la asistencia, calificaciones y

actitudes. La organización confía en que las vidas se pueden transformar a través de fe y educación. Les damos la bienvenida a

Cuando empezamos el proyecto de WBC Gym Pass e incitamos que los gimnasios dejaran a los niños de escasos recursos se

incorporaran, fuimos contactados por James D. Curte de Indiana. James es el director del equipo Achieve. Ellos nunca dejan afuera a

un niño por falta de recursos. Su lema es: ¡Guantes, no armas! El equipo Achieve es una secretaría de Achieve Internacional que

utiliza el programa Estadounidense olímpico de boxeo para admitir adolescentes urbanos para que puedan participar en competencias

sancionadas de boxeo.

Todos los participantes del equipo Achieve

han renunciado al pertenecer a pandillas de gánster y trabajan en su vida espiritual,

académica, personal y en sus metas

deportivas. Como miembro del equipo

Achieve, los estudiantes deben inscribirse a la escuela o colegio y mantener un GPA de 2.5. Además

los estudiantes deben mantener una asistencia regular a clases y no pueden estar involucrados en

ninguna clase de actos de violencia.

When we started WBC Project Gym Pass, and urged gyms to let in needy children, we were contacted by James D. Curles of Indiana. James is the director of Team Achieve. They never turn a child away for lack of money. Their motto: Gloves not Guns! Team Achieve is a ministry of Achieve International that uses the USA Olympic Boxing Program to allow Urban teens to compete in sanctioned boxing competitions.

SHERO + LAS VEGAS BOYS AND GIRLS CLUBBy Jill Diamond

With many of our champions and some top, WBC officials, we

visited SHERO and the Boys and Girls Club of Las Vegas. Eileen

Oser, director of SHERO, made the trip possible. There were

approximately 200 children, and they all got gifts and signed

autographs from the champs. Thanks to Richard Steel, several of

the children showed off their sparring, while Kenny refereed

and the other children cheered! It was great fun!

Con muchos de nuestros campeones y algunos oficiales del WBC

visitamos SHERO y el club de BOY´SAND GIRL’S de Las Vagas. Eileen Oser

directora de SHERO, fue quien hizo posible este viaje. Fueron

aproximadamente 200 niños y todos ellos recibieron regalos y autógrafos de los campeones. Gracias a Richard

Thanks to David Walker, who alerted us to the situation, many of our champs showed their support for Jamie Wood, a young man who loves boxing and has undergone repeated chemo treatments and finally, a long and successful operation.

Our Patty designed this using the quotes from some of our boxers.According to Jamie’s mom, Jaime’s recovering well and very grateful for the well-wishes and attention from the WBC

members.Gracias a David Walker, quien nos alerto de la situación de que muchos de nuestros campeones estaban mostrando su

apoyo a Jaime Wood, un joven hombre que ama boxear había sido sometido repetitivas veces a la quimo terapia y finalmente una larga y exitosa operación. Isaiah Got His Gear!¡Isaiah obtuvo su equipo!

Young, aspiring boxer, Isaiah’s boxing gear, included a glove signed by Sergio Martinez, stolen from his mom’s car. Here’s a picture of a happier Isaiah at the WBC Convention in Las Vegas, where he and his family came to pick up his new gear, including a special set of gloves given to him and signed by Sergio. Lou DiBella, Rudy Tellez and our own Mauricio were responsible for Isaiah’s smile!

The WBC and Eric Naranjo of Everlast joined together to send white walking canes and sporting gear to the Home orBlind and partially sighted children in Cameroon, Africa. Thanks to the good works of Mary Yaya and Sonstone Kashiba, we will help thes children on their way to independence!

“People who talk without a stammer just don’t know how lucky they are because they don’t realize what it’s like for an individual such as myself to have this condition. For me it’s like fighting a big battle, every single minute of every day. Apart from my family, the sport of Boxing is one of the things that keeps me going right now as my childhood dream is to become a world champion, one day.

I am a very passionate boxing fan and have been since the first time I stepped into a boxing gym seven years ago and never looked back it. Attending the boxing classes helps me to relief some of the stress, disappointment, frustration and anger that I always seem to have purely because of my stammer, stopping me from being the person who I really want to be, each and every day. It kept me off the streets gave something worthwhile to do in a disciplined environment and very focused required was great for me. I grew in confidence, self believe and self worth, it also taught me to respect myself and most of all other people. Now I can cope better with everyday life but when I do have a really bad day I go to the gym and relieve my stress on the punch bag. Boxing gives me the strength and belief in myself to achieve anything in life as long as I but the hard work in. To become a boxer, a physiotherapist and my ultimate goal, that is beating my stammer.

I am now at University studying to become a physiotherapist and having moved to a new town found Mervyn Turner from WBC Cares who has helped me tremendously and I am now training at his boxing Gym and part of his large family of boxers and hope to be competing for the team very shortlyMy name Is Mohammed AmilShafi and I am a Recovered Stammerer. “

“Las personas que nos son tartamudas no saben los afortunados queson y no entienden lo que es ser alguien como yo y tener esa

condición”. Para mí todos los días es una continua batalla el día a día y minuto a minuto. Apartado por mi familia, el boxeo es una de las

cosas que me mantiene a flote así como el sueño que he tenido desde mi infancia de algún día convertirme en un campeón mundial.

Soy un apasionado fan del boxeo y desde el primer

momento que pise un gimnasio de boxeo hace siete años no he mirado hacia atrás. El asistir a las clases de box me ha ayudado a deshacerme del estrés, decepciones, frustraciones e ira que

al parecer son originados por la tartamudez, deteniéndome cada día de ser yo mismo y de lo

que realmente quiero ser . Me mantiene des estresado, me da algo en la cual vale la pena el

disciplinarse y es me mantiene enfocado. Mi confianza y fe en mi mismo ha crecido, así como

mi autoestima, también me ha enseñado a

respetarme a mi mismo y a la mayoría de las personas. Ahora puedo hacerle frente al día a día de una mejor manera y cuando ha sido un mal día voy al gimnasio y descargo todo mi estrés en

el costal de box, El box me ha dado la fuerza y el creer en mi mismo que puedo enfrentar cualquier cosa en la vida siempre y

cuando trabaje duro. Para convertirme en un boxeador y por ultimo en un físico terapeuta, le daré una paliza a la tartamudez.

En este momento estoy estudiando en la universidad para convertirme en físico terapeuta y cuando me mudé a esta nueva

ciudad me encontré con Mervyn Tuner de WBC Cares quien me ha ayudado de una manera tremenda, ahora estoy entrenando

en su gimnasio de box y como parte de su gran familia de boxeadores espero poder en corto competir para el equipo. Mi

nombre es Mohammed Amil Shafi y estoy recuperado de la tartamudez.

What a remarkable and useful way to use the technology for benefiting the young.“I give lessons via Skype but I’ve got some pictures from the children Daniel and I have invited to the boxing show in Kiev last year. They could take pictures with the boxers Volodymyr Sydorenko who became WBC International Silver super flyweight champion and Mbwana Matumlaand were very happy and extremely inspired and became more motivated in studying. This proves that to show the children real examples of success helps to approximate their dreams about their own success in future.”I am visiting my family in Ukraine now where my pupils also come from and I have a great opportunity to organize the Christmas feast at my place with some cookies, thee and watching of the move CHRISTMAS CAROL in English to explain the children by such great mean as a film what Christmas means in English speaking countries and other Catholic countries as well. Nosotros hemos tenido que compartir esta nota por parte de la juez del WBC Olyene. Cabe destacar la manera importante y útil el

venir y utilizar la tecnología en beneficio de la juventud, “doy lecciones a través de SKYPE pero tengo algunas fotos del pequeño

Sydorenko el cual se convirtió en el campeón internacional del peso Supermosca del WBC y Mbwaba Matumla estaban muy

contentos y extremadamente inspirados, llenos de motivación para continuar estudiando. Esto es la prueba de que

mostrándoles a los niños ejemplos exitosos, les ayuda a aproximarse a sus propios sueños y a un futuro exitoso. Estoy

visitando a mi familia en Ucrania, también tuve la oportunidad de organizar un festival de navidad con mis alumnos en mi casa,

comiendo galletas, bebiendo te y viendo una película del Cuento de Navidad en Inglés para poder explicarles a los niños del gran

significado que tiene esta película y lo que representa la Navidad en los países que hablan Inglés y otros países Católicos. Es

importante dar unnuevo panorama a los

Ucranianos ya que la mayoría con Católicos

Ortodoxos y celebran la Navidad de una manera
