Buena Nueva Good News Reflection The Fifth Bread

"Love is like five loaves and two fish, always too little until you start giving it away." This is the message

inscribed at a shrine near the northern end of the Sea of Galilee, built where Jesus multiplied a small amount of food to provide for the needs of everyone in the large

crowd who had come to see him.

In front of the altar is a Byzantine mosaic of the loaves and fish, dating about 480 A.D. It's next to the rock upon which Jesus blessed the food. However, in the mosaic you can see

only four loaves, not five. Why?

The fifth loaf is the bread of the Eucharist in which Jesus comes to us in Holy Communion at every Mass.

The Eucharist is more than the True Presence of

Jesus. It's more than a communion with the Body of Christ that's become the whole Church community. It's a miracle of multiplication. Whatever we lack from God, it comes to

us in Jesus through the Holy Spirit, and when we participate in the Eucharistic celebration of Mass, we can

(and should!) ask Jesus to multiply our insufficiencies into an abundance.

We can trust that he will give us all that we need, at the

perfect time in whatever way we're able to receive it, albeit often through a growth process.

Do you have enough love in your life? Most of us would

say no, because there is no one -- except God -- who is capable of giving us all the love that we need: No one, regardless of how close to us they are,

regardless of how loyal and trustworthy, regardless of how close to Christ they are.

The Eucharist is our earthly, direct connection to all the

perfect love of God. The reason we don't feel the fullness of that love is because we don't fully understand how to unite

ourselves to the Eucharist. To receive the life-changing impact of the Eucharist fully, be the Eucharist fully. The Eucharist is love given in sacrifice for the sake of others. If you're not receiving enough love,

give more love -- be the love you want to receive. Be Eucharist for others.

Questions for Personal Reflection:

Is God's love sufficiently filling in the gaps where others don't love you enough? Take your needs to the Eu-charist; ask the Holy Spirit to show you how to give more love instead of focusing on getting more, then ask Jesus to

multiply the love that you give so that it's more than enough for your needs as well as the needs of

others.

El Quinto Pan

"El amor es como cinco panes y dos pescados, siempre muy poco hasta que comienzas a repartirlo." Este es el mensaje inscripto en una capilla cerca del norte del Mar de Galilea, construida donde Jesús multiplicó una pequeña porción de comida para satisfacer las necesidades de una gran multitud que había ido a verlo.

Frente al altar hay un mosaico bizantino con los panes y los pescados, fechado alrededor del 480d.C. Está próximo a la roca sobre la cual Jesús bendijo la comida. No obstante, en el mosaico sólo pueden verse cuatro panes, no cinco. ¿Por qué? El quinto pan es el pan de la Eucaristía, en la cual Jesús viene hacia nosotros en la Santa Comunión en cada Misa.

La Eucaristía es más que la Verdadera Presencia de Jesús. Es más que una comunión con el Cuerpo de Cristo que se convierte en toda la comunidad de la Iglesia. Es un milagro de multiplicación. Cualquier cosa que nos falte de Dios, viene a nosotros en Jesús a través del Espíritu Santo y, cuando participamos de la celebración Eucarística de la Misa, podemos (¡y deberíamos!) pedir a Jesús que multiplique todo lo que nos falta y lo transforme en abundancia.Podemos confiar en que nos dará todo lo que necesitamos en el momento perfecto, de la manera que seamos capaces de ecibirlo, aunque, generalmente, a través de un proceso de crecimiento.

¿Tienes suficiente amor en tu vida? La mayoría de nosotros diríamos que no, porque no hay nadie -- excepto Dios -- que sea capaz de darnos todo el amor que necesitamos, nadie, no importa cuán cercano a nosotros sea, no importa cuán leal o confiable sea, no importa cuán cercano a Cristo esté.

La Eucaristía es nuestra conexión terrenal directa con todo el amor perfecto de Dios. La razón por la cual no sentimos la plenitud de ese amor es porque no comprendemos plenamente cómo unirnos a la Eucaristía. Para recibir plenamente el poder de la Eucaristía, y que cambie tu vida sé la Eucaristía plenamente. La Eucaristía es amor dado en sacrificio por el bien de los demás. Si no estás recibiendo suficiente amor, da más amor -- sé el amor que quieres recibir. Sé la Eucaristía para los demás.

Preguntas para la Reflexión Personal: ¿Es suficiente el amor de Dios para que llene los vacíos donde otros no pueden amarte plenamente? Lleva tus necesidades a la Eucaristía; pídele al Espíritu Santo que te muestre cómo dar más amor en vez de enfocarte en recibir más, luego pídele a Jesús que multiplique el amor que das para que sea más que suficiente para tus necesidades como así también para las necesidades de los demás.

Solmenidad del Corpus Chrsiti

Un milagro eucarístico del siglo XIII fue el origen de la

Fiesta del Corpus Christi, que la Iglesia celebra el jueves

siguiente a la Solemnidad de la Santísima Trinidad; aunque

en algunos países las Iglesias locales deciden trasladarla

para el domingo por una cuestión pastoral.

En esta solemnidad la Iglesia tributa a la Eucaristía un culto

público y solemne de adoración, gratitud y amor, siendo la

procesión del Corpus Christi una de las más importantes en

toda la Iglesia Universal.

A mediados del siglo XIII el P. Pedro de Praga dudaba so-

bre la presencia de Cristo en la Eucaristía y realizó una per-

egrinación a Roma para rogar sobre la tumba de San Pedro

una gracia de fe. Al retornar, mientras celebraba la Santa

Misa en Bolsena, en la Cripta de Santa Cristina, la Sagrada

Hostia sangró manchando el corporal.

La noticia llegó rápidamente al Papa Urbano IV, que se en-

contraba muy cerca en Orvieto, y mandó que se le lleve el

corporal. Más adelante el Pontífice publicó la bula

“Transiturus”, con la que ordenó que se celebrara la Solem-

nidad del Corpus Christi en toda la Iglesia el jueves después

del domingo de la Santísima Trinidad.

El Santo Padre encomendó a Santo Tomás de Aquino la

preparación de un oficio litúrgico para la fiesta y la com-

posición de himnos, que se entonan hasta el día de hoy:

Tantum Ergo, Lauda Sion.

El Papa Clemente V en el Concilio general de Viena (1311)

ordenó una vez más esta fiesta y publicó un nuevo decreto

en el que incorporó el de Urbano IV. Posteriormente Juan

Solmenity of Corpus Christi

A Eucharistic miracle of the thirteenth century was the

origin of the Feast of Corpus Christi, which the Church

celebrates on the Thursday following the Solemnity of the

Most Holy Trinity; although in some countries the local

Churches decide to move it for Sunday because of a

pastoral issue.

On this solemnity the Church pays the Eucharist a public

and solemn worship of adoration, gratitude and love, the

procession of Corpus Christi being one of the most

important in the entire Universal Church.

In the middle of the thirteenth century Fr. Peter of Prague

doubted the presence of Christ in the Eucharist and made a

pilgrimage to Rome to pray on the tomb of St. Peter a grace

of faith. When returning, while celebrating the Holy Mass

in Bolsena, in the Crypt of Santa Cristina, the Sacred Host

bled staining the corporal.

The news quickly reached Pope Urban IV, who was very

close in Orvieto, and ordered that the body be taken. Later

the Pontiff published the bull "Transiturus", with which he

ordered that the Solemnity of Corpus Christi be celebrated

throughout the Church on Thursday after Sunday of the

Most Holy Trinity.

The Holy Father entrusted to Saint Thomas Aquinas the

preparation of a liturgical office for the feast and the

composition of hymns, which are sung to this day: Tantum

Ergo, Lauda Sion. Pope Clement V at the General Council

of Vienna (1311) once more ordained this feast and

published a new decree in which he incorporated that of

Urban IV. Later Juan XII urged his observance.

The story of the Loaves and Fishes shows us that when we share what we have, even if it doesn’t seem like that much, miracles can happen!

Do not think that your gift is too small or insignificant! God blesses all the gifts we offer and makes them wondrous.
