Hello everyone!!! Today is one of my favorite feast days of the whole year. It is Corpus Christi, also known as the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ. There are few things that distinguish us as Catholics as does the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Body and Blood we receive each week at Mass. It is a very solemn teaching and central as-pect of our faith. It is why we go to Mass even when we don’t feel like it, it is why we are reverent at Mass and why we try to focus even when our mind wanders, it is why we should nag our kids to go to Mass even if they hate us for it (I give all of you parents and grandparents full approval to nag your kids, one day when they meet Jesus then they will know you were right), it is why we love the Mass even when the music or my homily is bad…all those things that might prevent us from attending and fully entering into the Mass MUST be overcome and pushed to the wayside be-cause of what is made present at the Mass, the Body and Blood of God. Even I dare say, on VACATION…we wouldn’t even consider missing Mass because how could any Sunday be complete without that intimate encounter with God in the Body and Blood of Christ. So now let me tell you about a dream of mine. Much of this dream will come true. Some of you older folks will remember the days of Eucharistic processions. Remember those? They were great! People would walk through the streets with the Blessed Sacrament leading the way, with incense, singing, etc. All through the town for all to see, including fallen away Catholics looking out their windows and non-Christians…the whole town had to check and see what was going on…what those ‘crazy Catholics’ were up to. In the future, my dream is to have a Eucharistic procession here in Richmond. I will let you decide where possibility and my dreams meet. But here’s what I think we are going to do. We will start at St Peter, the original Cathedral of the Diocese. They we will march up Grace Street to the governor’s mansion and the state capital. We will march around the governor’s man-sion and the state capital buildings like Joshua marched around Jericho in the Old Testament. My hope is not that those buildings fall as did the walls of Jericho, but I do hope the walls of arro-gance and ignorance surrounding the hearts of politicians fall so that God’s light and wisdom can shine on them. It will be a glorious procession with the Blessed Sacrament lead-ing the way. Thousands and thousands will crowd the streets just to get a peek at the King of Kings. People will throw rose petals under the feet of those who carry the monstrance. The whole of Richmond will sing and worship and cry out what people in the Book of Revelation cry out all day long while in heaven “worthy are you Lord to receive glory and honor and power, for you have created all things and by your will they came to be and were made” Afterwards we will baptize all who have not yet been baptized and everyone will become Catholic. Then, this scenario will be repli-cated at every town and city across the country and even the whole world, from China to Africa to South America to Antarctica. And all will come to know and love the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. What a glorious thing that will be. One day it will for sure happen. I reckon that’s a reasonable day in the life of Heaven. But for now, I still think we can do a nice bit of it. They have a very amazing Eucharistic Procession each year on the Virginia Beach boardwalk in October. So maybe we will start to plan something for here. Let’s pray about it. I hope you enjoy this wonderful feast day today. I leave you with a nice prayer to say throughout the day. “May the heart of Jesus, in the Most Blessed Sacrament, be praised, adored, and loved with grateful affection, at every moment, in all the tabernacles of the world, even to the end of time. Amen” Fr Rossi
