Recurrent laryngeal nerve palsy: case reportA 48-year-old man developed recurrent laryngeal nerve
palsy while receiving vinblastine and emtricitabine.The man had been diagnosed with HIV infection in 2008,
and had subsequently started antiretroviral therapy whichincluded emtricitabine [dosage, route and duration of therapynot stated]. After presenting with weight loss in May 2012, hewas diagnosed with stage 4B Hodgkin’s lymphoma and hestarted receiving four-weekly vinblastine [dosage and route notstated] with doxorubicin, bleomycin and dacarbazine. Hereported hoarseness of voice 2 weeks after starting thetreatment. Flexible nasoendoscopy confirmed paralysis of hisleft vocal cord in the lateral position [outcome not stated].
Author comment: "We report a man with AIDS whodeveloped hoarseness of voice due to [recurrent laryngealnerve] palsy during treatment with vinblastine for Hodgkin’slymphoma. . .
