PEACE The greeting of peace at Mass adds substance to a message of today’s readings: peace is relational. When we greet in peace the person near us at Mass, we share the touch of a handshake or embrace, sincere eye contact, and friendly words. The scriptures speak of a similar peace. The first reading from Isaiah describes the peace of the holy city, Jerusalem, a place of prosperity and comfort where the “LORD’s power shall be known to his servants” (Isaiah 66:14c). The Christian understanding of peace changes slightly. Paul writes of the “peace and mercy” on all who are created anew. Jesus describes a feeling of peace that will rest on those who accept his disciples and their message. Peace is both an absence of strife and a personal blessing. PAZ El saludo de la paz en la Misa añade fundamento a un mensaje de las lecturas de hoy: la paz es relacional. Cuando le damos la paz a la persona que está cerca de nosotros en la Misa, compartimos el roce de un apretón de manos o un abrazo, el contacto visual sincero y palabras

amistosas. Las escrituras hablan de una paz similar. In April, we distributed a “How Goes It” survey to find out what YOU, THE CHURCH, found to work well at St. Frances X. Cabrini and what needed to be improved. We received a total of 212 returns: 42 from the 4:00 PM, 42 from the 7:30 AM, 29 from the 9:00 AM, and 72 from the 11:00 AM Masses. Although receiving only 212 surveys out of 1,726 registered families was disappointing, those that did respond provided us with sufficient information to identify the major areas of concern and these areas will now become part of the Pastoral Plan. What this means is that the pastoral council will address these areas until they have been satisfactorily corrected. Some of the other concerns and questions will be addressed in the bulletin or at the Masses. Feel free to contact Ursula Benitez at 909-797-2533 ext. 225 or any of our other pastoral council members for additional information.
