Semana de la Colecta

Por favor, sean generosos en la segunda colecta de esta semana para la Campaña Católica para el Desarrollo Humano.

En los Estados Unidos, una de cada siete personas vive en la pobreza. Con esta colecta, ustedes apoyan a programas que tratan con las causas de la pobreza y proveen un futuro sostenible a los que luchan por salir adelante en el país. Además, el 25 por ciento de los fondos recaudados permanece en nuestra diócesis para financiar proyectos an -pobreza aquí. Por favor, en oración, consideren la manera de contribuir a esta colecta y de trabajar en la periferia. Queridos amigos: el evangelio de este domingo es evangelio de la esperanza. La escena es grandiosa. EI sol se hará tinieblas ya no dará luz. La luna no dará su resplandor y las estrellas caerán. Pero en medio de esa oscuridad total aparecerá Jesús, el hijo del hombre, el hombre Nuevo, el verdaderamente humano. EI es la luz y el verdadero poder. Ante su legada todo queda confrontado por el y se vera lo que es realmente una vida humana. Se vera donde esta la verdad y donde esta la mentira. Quienes actuaron con justicia y quienes han sido injustos e inhumanos. EI amor será el único valor. Se hará justicia a todos los excluidos y maltratados de la historia. Porque Jesús es el sol de Justicia, la Palabra que nunca pasara.

But in the midst of that total darkness will appear Jesus, the son of Man, the new man. He is the light and the true power. Before his arrival everything will be confronted by him and he’ll see what is really a human life. He'll see where the truth is and where the lie is. Those who acted with justice and those who have been unfair and inhumane. Love will be the only value. Justice will be done to all the excluded and battered in history. For Jesus is the sun of righteousness, the word that will never pass.

GRACES DERIVED FROM ASSISTING AT MASS 1. The Mass is Calvary

continued. 2. Every Mass is worth as much

as the sacrifice of Our Lord’s life, suffering and death.

3. Holy Mass is the most powerful atonement for your sins.

4. At the hour of death, the Masses you have heard will be your greatest consolation.

5. Every Mass will go with you to judgment and plead for pardon.

6. At Mass you can diminish more or less temporal punishment due to your sins, according to your fervor.

7. Assisting devoutly at Holy Mass you render to the sacred humanity of Our Lord the greatest homage.

8. He supplies for many of your negligences and omissions.

9. He forgives the venial sins which you have not confessed. The power of Satan over you is diminished.

10. You afford the souls in Purgatory the greatest possible relief.

11. One Mass heard during life will be of more benefit to you than many heard for you after your death.

12. You are preserved from dangers and misfortunes which otherwise might have befallen you. You shorten your Purgatory.

13. Every Mass wins for you a higher degree of glory in Heaven.

14. You receive the priest’s blessing which Our Lord ratifies in Heaven.

15. You kneel amidst a multitude of holy angels, who are present at the adorable Sacrifice with reverential awe.

16. You are blessed in your temporal goods and affairs.

In eternity, we shall fully realize that it was certainly worthwhile to have assisted at Holy Mass daily. Pray for priests that they may offer the Mass with holy love and reverence.

lives in poverty. With this collection you support programs that address the causes of poverty and provide a sustainable future for those who are struggling across the country. In addition, 25 percent of funds collected remains in our diocese to fund local anti-poverty projects. Please prayerfully consider how you can support this collection and work on the margins. To afford all parishioners the opportunity to book Masses, in particular the popular weekend Masses (Saturday 4:30, Sunday 8:00am, 11:00am and Spanish Mass), we kindly remind you that

the following procedure is in place. Masses may be booked:

• No more than six months in advance. • Up to Six Masses may be booked at a time and

only one can be a weekend Mass (listed above). • One intention per weekend.

• Donations for Masses booked by phone MUST be received within 24 hours or Mass may be re-assigned.

Please contact or stop by the office if you would like to have any Masses offered.

It’s envelope time again! We will again be distributing envelopes covering the entire year to all our registered parishioners who want to use them. Please note everyone using envelopes will again receive a new envelope number, and, although you are currently using envelopes, we need to hear from you. If you prefer not to use envelopes, that is fine, we can still record your donation as in the past if you

put a check in the basket or in your own envelope marked with your name. If you would like to use envelopes but are not registered, please fill out a registration form located at

the Church entrance (Robinson St. entrance) and drop in collection basket or stop by the office. The envelopes will be available for pickup some time in December, please check bulletin for the ex-
