The Collserola Tower is the telecommunications tower built on the Collserola mountain range, parallel to the

Mediterranean Sea, designed by English architect Norman Foster with the collaboration of the company

Ove Arup & Partners for the 1992 Olympic games

This tower with 288 meters high, is the tallest building in the city and is a member of the World Federation of

Great Towers.

Collserola's Tower is the knot of Catalonia's telecommunications; for the Tower passes 100 % of the

Television and 95 % of the radios that we listen in Barcelona and his metropolitan area.

In the tenth of thirteen floors of the tower there is a Viewing-point opens to the public , that offers you

magnificent views of the city. From the Viewing-point you can enjoy a vision of the city to 560 meters of height and with good atmospheric conditions it’s

possible to see the Pyrenees.

This tower, to Norman Foster should be a new symbol for city, a representation of his new stage and his future. For this reason, he designed a futuristic and simple tower.

Norman Foster was born in Manchester in 1935. After his

graduating in Manchester University School of Architecture and City

Planning in 1961 he won a Henry Fellowship to Yale University, where he won a Master’s Degree in Architecture.

He is the founder and chairman of Foster + Partners. Founded in London in 1967, now it’s a worldwide practice,

with projects in more than twenty countries. During his life, Norman has won more prizes but in 1999 he was

rewarded with Prize Pritzker, the most prestigious recognition in the area of the architecture to his professional

path.
