Vocabulary

Dear Family,

Today my class started the Fractions and Decimals chapter. I will learn how

to find the Greatest Common Factor and the Least Common Multiple. I will

also learn how to compare and simplify fractions and how to write them as a

decimal. Below are my vocabulary words for the chapter.

• Give your student the measuring cups. Point out the different size measurements found on each cup.

• Write all of the sizes on a sheet of paper.• Find the least common denominator (LCD) for

all of the measurement sizes and find equivalent fractions with that LCD for each measure.• Order the sizes from least to greatest and arrange the measuring cups accordingly.• Write at least three more equivalent fractions for each size measurement.

At Home ActivityMaterials: measuring cups with fractional measurements labeled, pencil, paper

Travel TalkWhile driving in the car, instruct your student to look for whole numbers in various places and name all of its factors. Have students compare the factors of two numbers to find the greatest common factor.

Aprenderé a
